One thing I’ve learned about making gravy over the years....if you heat the milk while your browning your flour then when you poor it in the milk it won’t get lumpy and it thickens and gets silky smooth quicker....please try it ....it works perfectly every time 🥰

This sounds like a great tip. Do you want the milk hot or just take the chill off of it?

    • @Stacy-pz9rr

@@deejo2 I like it pretty hot just so it doesn’t clump and as you stir and pour it just smoothies out perfectly 🙌🏻

Your cast iron is a chicken fryer. Your tip is correct and what I do: clean cast iron skillet, towel dry, heat up on stove to dry completely, rub in tiny bit of Crisco, and put away. Love this video!

I watched this live last week & as soon as it was over I went straight to my kitchen & made me some biscuits & gravy. I didn't have any sausage but it was still the best breakfast I've had in a LONG time. My husband wasn't raised in the south & doesn't care for white gravy. Just like you always say, we like what we were raised on.
The big deal here is that I had forgotten how to make good gravy but after watching you, it all came back to me. I was so proud of it I called my family in TN. 😊
So thank you for reminding me how to make good milk gravy & all of the other recipes I learned from you.

I have been binge watching all of your videos and I swear it feels like I've met you before. Turns out I live about 40 minutes from collard valley. I was reading a little on your website about your background and low and behold you lived in dallas, which is where i was born! I went to nebo elementary as a kid as well (im 29) and then lived in cobb county for most of my life. Anyways, what a small world! I live in Carrollton now, and im having so much fun going through your recipes. My husband is having a great time tasting them too. Everytime i watch a video it feels like im spending time with a favorite aunt and uncle in their kitchen, so thank you for sharing. Im so glad i found your channel.

Tammy, you inspire me to cook, and want to cook! I don’t cook much, but lately when I do, things just don’t taste good to me. I am 75 (in 12 days), and my husband passed away 10 years ago (week after Thanksgiving.) After watching your videos, I now want to learn to make biscuits! I made them one time when we first got married, and my husband said that I could make a bunch and give them to his friend that was a hunter! He could throw them at the deer and kill it. You make it look so easy, and I am going to conquer this art!!! Wish me luck! Thanks for your videos and keep encouraging young cooks on “how to cook like mama did!”

I always fry eggs with the lid, the trick is to get that lid on as soon as you've cracked the last egg into the skillet so that the whites don't get too brown before the skin forms over the yolks. I do the same as you do with my cast iron, warm water when I'm done using it and after washing, on the stove on low heat till it's dry then while it's still warm rub in some oil.

When I was a teenage I took the cornbread out of the oven and put the cornbread in a plate and I immediately stuck it under cold water and the whole pan broke all the way into. You make gravy exactly like I do. I've watched so many people on utube that don't know how to do it. However, I use exact measurements on the flour and milk. I use enough grease to make a nice consistency so the rue can brown perfectly. I make the gravy a little thicker so I can thin it slightly with milk at the end. I love your videos.

Hey Tammy, I wanted to share with you my grandmother’s Italian breakfast recipe that my mom and me still make and crave!
    Peppers and Eggs:
2 cubanelle peppers (Italian frying peppers)
    1 sweet onion
2 garlic gloves minced (I know you’re not a fan so you could use roasted garlic powder)
    1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    6 eggs
    Salt
    Pepper
Sauté sliced peppers and onions in olive oil, add garlic and sauté for a minute longer. Whisk eggs, salt, pepper, grated cheese, and add to sautéed peppers and eggs. Cook until eggs are cooked to your liking. Serve on Italian bread.
    Enjoy!

My Mama mage the worlds best biscuits and gravy, in my opinion of course, and you make your biscuits EXACTLY the way, rolled, on the greased pan and let them touch each other. She said yes helped each other rise. She said if you cut them it pinches the sides and they don't rise up fluffy like a hand rolled biscuit. She made her gravy the same way too. See, I told you that it was the world's best, I will bet that your mama made the world's best too.😊

I make my biscuits like you, but I pat them out and use a biscuit cutter. I use Jimmy Dean sausage, but I also add some crisco. I use a large cast iron skillet and fill it to the top. When I make it that is all my family will eat, so I have to make a lot. My mom always added water to the flour mixture, and then canned milk, so that’s how I make it too. But we don’t like pepper in it , just salt, and We don’t like it dark either,, sort of medium. I use more flour and grease than you do, and I use a regular whisk. I never measure anything..Yours looks delicious, and I really enjoy watching you cook. Your recipes always look so wonderful. We always crumble our biscuits too. My husband would love your eggs.

I love watching you cook and all the advice that you give us and I love when Chris is video taping and we can hear from him, and you know Chris made this one video that I don't think I'll ever forget and it was a video about people who put remarks on your page and he said that if you're just going to be writing stuff that is negative he would rather that they just don't write it at all he don't like it when anybody puts anything negative on there for you and I agree with him, I just love the way that he stands up for you it shows that he loves you very much and you guys love each other and God too

Tammy, I am always fascinated by your making biscuits this way. My mom and grandma made biscuits and I make them also. They were from the south and I never saw them make biscuits this way . I am determined to practice till I get the feel of it. It just seems so cool to be able to do this. ☺️

I just rack my sausage to the side of skillet while I make my flour mixer and then just mix my sausage right into my flour then pour my milk in stir til it gets thick comes out just fine. Just like my mama used to make 😀
