Jan, the last few weeks a buddy of mine and I have tried to use jacktrip to jam online. He is on drums, I am on bass. We have struggled to get us to both be able to have voice audio and instrument audio at the same time. We either have instrument audio coming through or voice audio, how do we go about getting both while we are in the online studio?

Hi Moe, do you have a multi-channel audio interface with your microphone plugged into one channel and your instrument into another? Make sure that you have "Stereo" (not "Mono") selected in your audio input settings. If your interface has more than two channels, you may also need to select the appropriate ones.

@@MikeDickey0 yeah I have the antelope audio zen q synergy core, but channel 1 and 2 are on the rear for mic inputs, and channel 3 & 4 are the instrument inputs on the front. Jacktrip settings in the studio for input options had channel 1-20 individually and then I had 1&2 3&4 etc as options. So I picked channel 1&2 and then plugged the bass into channel 2 in the back. I thought this would work but my drummer said the bass sounded poorly. I had other issues with youtube and spotify not playing while using jacktrip and the zen q and I think the zen q is overkill, so I just ordered the audient id4 mkii. I am hoping its simple 2 channel input 1 instrument on the front one mic on the rear end up working nice and I don't have the other bugs I experienced with the zen q.
Hopefully this set up works for me. We are not sure what we need for my drummer. Right now he has the roland td27kv2 and only only get his DI of the drums in jacktrip. Does he need a audio interface like me to be able to get two channels 1 for the drums, and 1 for the mic?

Hi Moe, thanks for reaching out and apologies for the late response - I just saw your and Mike's comments. I have a few thoughts:
      - Sorry to hear you had problems with your Antelope audio interface. Given your setup, I would have tried to select "1&2" under input channel, which would be your rear mic channels. Then, I'd have chosen "Mix to Mono", as you'd want both inputs to be heard in the center.
      - You said the bass sounded poorly. Often, instruments and microphones need a different amount of gain, as the impedance differs ("mic" vs "line" level), so that could be a reason.
      - Since you have ordered your new Audient interface, please let us know how it goes. I agree, it looks promising with the dedicated instrumental jack and microphone input.
      - You mentioned issues with Spotify/UA-cam while using JackTrip. Are you using a windows machine? If so, that's not an uncommon problem, as Windows' ASIO and audio drivers often allow only one program to use a certain audio input or output. Otherwise, I've seen programs crash or the audio distort. On Mac this is usually less of a problem and could be related to your interface's drivers as well.
      - About your drummer friend: Since he has an electronic drumset, it would obviously be best if he transmitted stereo, but for that you might need an additional mixer (since it would otherwise be three inputs with the mic). Is he has a DI with one mono output, yes, I believe he'd need an audio interface and use one input for his DI signal and one for a microphone.
Hope this helps and please let us know how it goes:)
      Cheers,
      -Jan

@@jacktriplabs Really appreciate the reply back. I got an Audient iD4 MKII and was able to use my mic and bass using channel 1 & 2 in jack trip. We ran into some of the same issue with my drummer saying my sound quality from my bass was good sometime and bad others. I am hoping you guys are right about gain settings. We will try again tomorrow so hopefully some fine tuning of gain settings will solve the bass sound issue. As far as voice that seemed to work just fine.
I also no longer have any issues using UA-cam or Spotify while we are in our Jacktrip Studio. I am not sure where the Mix to Mono setting is. I was only able to find the channels options along with choosing stereo or mono. Is mono the "mix to mono" you are referring to?
Now we just need to figure out voice on my drummers end. I get his drums loud and clear no sound issues at all coming from his TK27k setup. But unfortunately it doesn't have a second channel for a mic. Hopefully once he finds an audio interface I will get voice and drums without issues on my side.
Overall we have had our trouble shooting but the fact that he's in the bay area and I am in SoCal and we can legit jam together is so damn cool. Hopefully we will get it dialed and then have to snag the yearly membership so we don't have time limits.

    Hi
What does joining look like for Nelson, did he have to have an account or does the link bring him sraight into tge studio?

Hi Chris, great question! Nelson simply received a link, and had to sign-up before joining. However, the signup process is completely free! And it was up to him to use the Desktop App, or simply use the Web App in the browser. Hope this helps!
