That family is interesting in their extraordinary family life. They loved each other, lived without scandal, and served their country. Thank you very much!
Elizabeth, the Queen mother died in 2002. Her second most surviving sibling died in 1967. She outlived all her siblings by 35 years and her husband by 50 years. The poor woman died right after Margaret who was apparently her lifelong companion.
One little error, during World War 1, The Black Watch was a separate regiment, it wasn't only until the 21st Century that the Royal Regiment of Scotland existed. Fergus Bowes-Lyon also served in The Black Watch.
I am a Lyon decendant. The Queen mother is my 15th cousin. The last ancestors in common are John Lyon Lord of Glamis 1509 and his father of the same name born 1491. Their wives were very important Janet Keith and Elizabeth Drummond. Both of them multiple lines decendants of The Stewart Kings, Robert the Bruce, and Edward the III via John of Gaunt thru Queen Joan Beaufort Queen of Scots wife of King James 1st. All my ancestors as well. There are probably several hundred thousand of us in the world.
Unfortunately at that time institutionalization of the mentally ill was very common. This was a common practice regardless of class. This is what all of society did to the mentally ill. We need to stop punishing people for the times in which they live because I guarantee that we living now will be escoriated for what we have done and what we believe.
@Kevin Richards - Such lofty claims to English royalty, and yet your English grammar is atrocious....the pronoun “myself” is never the correct choice in a sentence like yours....the correct grammar for your sentence is, “Queen Elizabeth _AND I_ have the same 9th great grandfAther” [sic]. _The next phrase is not even a sentence;_ it is a sentence fragment! What is it you wish to say about, “The Warners of Virginia”?!?!?
One of my Linkedin connections is Constanse (I think this is how she spells it) Bowes-Lyon, who is mostly involved in Charity work. I was curious when I read her profile, when she listed the languages she speaks as English and Bokmal. At that time I had not heard of Bokmal before. It is actually Norwegian. So she married into the Bowes-Lyon family.
Funny how all her family died young and she lived til 101. I dare say the Queen will be head of The Firm for many years still. The Jubilee was so fantastic.
It's actually quite common and it continues to this day in my own family. My paternal grandmother died at 38, her husband, twice widowed, at 65, my father (lucky dog!) despite his many health conditions, at almost 94, the longest lived of his family. My mother, who we all expected to live to 105 and bury us all, died ten years ago at only 86, but her older sister died in 2022 at 102! My maternal grandmother died at only 74, but her husband at 97 and was in great shape to the end, his sister at 95, his mother at 105. (My mother's side is known for their longevity). But my mother's other sisters died at only 80, 82 and 86, and their daughters and my cousins, two have already died at 71 each.

The Bowes-Lyon family seat is also in Barnard Castle County Durham. BOWES Museum is the home of the musical silver Swan. They are said to have made their money from coal, which is how they Bowes-Lyons become aristocracy.
I love to see more people appreciating Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother! I love her, while most people are obsessed with Princess Diana, I'm more old-fashioned and have always been obsessed with the Queen Mother. I'd say she's my favourite female royal family member (other than HMTQ herself, of course).
@@stanlywlodykajimenez6983 oh I agree with you. She came from money when her father inherited his title. Same with Diana. Her dad had money but she had more issues than that of the Queen Mother. You take care 🙂
My name is Gary Lyons and I have been visiting the history of the family I found one Janet Douglas Lyons and it is same that I felt for that part of history lies that killed her and she was never cleared of the false charges and restored as a Lady in standing sad.

Thank you very much for your research. What a fascinating family. I’d like to know more now.
I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

... on the backs of miners; as with so many other 'wealthy' dynasties.
@richardkell4888 so what?
The castle is pronounced “glams”. The “I” isn’t pronounced.
I am a descendant of the Lyons family on my mother's side. I hope to one day visit Glamis Castle in Scotland.

@Kate - me too! I have always loved the Queen Mother; she's one of my favorite royals. She was the right woman for King George VI. You take care 🙂

The "i" in Glammis is actually silent
I am very interested in The Bowes-Lyon family which is King Charles III of the United Kingdom’s Scottish family 🇬🇧🏴
Glamis Castle is pronounced Glamz Castle. Cecilia is a direct descendent from the Duke of Wellington.
As well as the Dukes of Devonshire
Actually I think she was descended from Wellingtoms brother
She's also a descendant of both King Henry VII and King Henry IV.
Does anyone know the Stockmann or Bohm surname?
Claude possibly also fathered another daughter as a teenager with a cook at Glamis.
DNA tests support the claim that the Queen mother had this half-sister named Mary.
Great video. Glamis castle is pronounced, Glams Castles.
Oh, thanks for mentioning that!

My favourite Scottish clan.
they belong to the Lyon clan
My partner is related to the bowes family and come from County Durham
The Queen Mother's father was a Scottish Noble
a bit incomplete I'd say! 5 cousins are missing here!!
👍👍👍👍
The queen mother side has Americans in there.
🤔nice👌
Thank you 😇
Those Bowes 😀
Some funny pronunciations there ! But interesting video.
It’s a robot speaking. Someone should have cleaned up the mispronunciations.
The English TH sound is completely missing from the video.
I have the same Birthday of Goerge Washington
Berkshire is pronounced Barkshire!
Much repetition here, amazing nobody checked.
I’m related through the Colman’s and freeman’s to the queen mother xxx
Awesome!
We need a flow chart and better pronunciation. Thanks.
Glamis is pronounced ‘Glarms’.
