I just downloaded that yesterday! I'm way too sick to be on a pc so thanks for the run-through!
Man, you're great. When I saw this video, I just couldn't help but buy Rayman 2 from GOG and see how it holds up. Is it just me or did the game use to play a bit slower? I think the gravity pulls Rayman down after jumping way too quickly, but other than that I think Rayman 2 aged really well.
Anyway, I again have a few suggestions and questions.
1) Maybe I got this wrong, but Rayman 2 was never on Steam by itself, right? Because RCP has the option to buy it on Steam, which doesn't work.
2) I think I already suggested this. There is no standard directory for games, right? I have six Rayman games in the same directory, but I had to navigate to it each time, which is annoying.
3) By clicking "Locate" in Rayman 2, on of the buttons is labeled "ACCEPT", but shouldn't it be "select" or something? (And yes, I would prefer if it wasn't in capital letters, but maybe that's your preference.) But I guess it would be even better if highlighting one option would already select it and close the window.
4) Is it possible to change the directory of a game without removing it from RCP?
5) When changing something in the settings and saving, there's this window saying that it was saved successfully, but I think that's unnecessary because a user would expect it to be successful, so maybe it can be removed.
6) When I select "Lock to screen resolution" in Rayman 2 when my current resolution is already input, it doesn't register as a change, meaning I can't save. But even then the game doesn't seem to run at that resolution and instead something much smaller it seems. I also didn't notice a difference between 1440x1080 without widescreen support and 1920x1080 with horizontal widescreen. Is this working as intended?
7) You can change the language of Rayman 2 in the game itself, so I think there's no need to do that in RCP.
The speed in the GOG version can sometimes run twice as fast. Either run the game with DirectX or in the nGlide config program choose 120fps as the framerate. That should solve it :)
1. Rayman 2 was available as a free bonus if you pre-ordered Origins. But you're right that it shouldn't be available as a purchase option! That's a mistake which happened when I tried automating the options based on available info, and since Rayman 2 has a Steam ID in my program it thinks it's available :P I'll fix that!
2. Yeah, sorry, that's currently not possible. The program should find most games automatically though. Which ones did you have to add manually? Also when you say one directory, do you mean one of the common ones (Program Files etc.) or a custom one?
3. Well the common behavior is that a radio button doesn't close the window/continue. Perhaps I could change the UI a bit there though. As for capital letters, it's set like that throughout all buttons in the app. Tbh I don't have any preference on the matter. Do you think it looks nicer without all capital letters?
4. No. Normally you wouldn't do that since when you install a game the path is set in the Registry etc. So for those few times you have to do so you have to remove and then add it again. If you'd really want to you can manually edit the app data file with the new paths.
5. You can actually disable that in the settings :)
6. The game gets weird with resolutions above 720p. Sometimes the resolution will fall back to the lowest one. You'll have to play around with it a bit and see what works. Rayman 2 is rather complicated to get running well.
7. Probably not, but it was so easy implementing that it feels silly not having it as an option. Of course it makes more sense for games like Rayman 1 where you can't change it in-game normally.
@@RayCarrot Ok, so this seems to be pretty complicated. Do I run it with DirectX by going to Launch -> Setup and then select it? Because if I do that, the game looks like this: imgur.com/a/rnn7LKv I think it also looked like that when I played Rayman 2 on PC for the first time maybe 15 years ago. On the other hand, I can select DirectX in nGlide config, but that didn't seem to do anything. 120 Hz was a bit too slow for me, so I went with 100, but thanks.

3) My point was that having two buttons and nothing else would be enough for this window. Personally, I don't like WORDS IN CAPITAL LETTERS, but you can leave it the way it is. ;)

6) It's weird. It seems that the resolution in the setup is the resolution of the loading screens and the resolution in nGlide is the one used in the game. Not to mention the resolution in RCP and the one you can set in-game. I increased the first two and now it looks fine. However, when I launch the game, it quickly switches between a black screen and my desktop at first, but fortunately I have no issues with flashing lights.
7) Yeah, it's ok.
@@artey6671 That graphic issue is sadly common with DirectX. Sadly I don't know of a fix other than running with nGlide. 120hz is the normal speed, but other ones will work too :)

_Sophisticated_ would be the most appropriate word here; both in terms of development and design! I hope that newbies to the program also experience the UI as user-friendly and not as too complicated -- if exploring the wide range of settings, features etc. ;-) The possibilties are well presented, and nothing beats the Dark theme of course ;-)

Can you please elaborate? Is the crash in the program or in the game? If it's in the program, do you get an error message or crash log?

does rayman control panel work on 32 bits? I ask this because a friend has a 32-bit pc and doesn't open the rayman control panel
Hm, it should. Are you on Windows 7? If so you also need to make sure to have the .Net Framework runtime for 4.7.2 installed.

You don't get an error of some kind? If so it might be your anti-virus blocking it. It does that sometimes since it detects this as an uncommonly used program (I remember Avast would constantly do it when I used it). You could try whitelisting it and see if that helps.
Antiviruses hate him. See how this program can do more for Rayman than Ubisoft ever will
It sometimes gets flagged since anti-malware programs sees it as an "uncommon" exe file, which it thinks is suspicious. You can usually force it to download and then run a manual scan on it to stop it from blocking it, or just whitelisting it.

Also, any way to mod DS4 buttons?
A PS4 controller should work for the game out of the box

I have two questions :
For Rayman 1, are the options similar to what was present in Rayman Optimum ?
For Rayman 2, how is the widescreen option different from the standalone patch ?
R1: Well sort of. Optimum used a special version of DOSBox with different scaling options while RCP allows you to use your own version. Other than that RCP allows you to change any option for the game.
R2: The standalone patch is probably more up to date at this point as I haven't updated the widescreen patch in RCP in a while.
hey man! i've got a bit of a problem, i'm trying to download the patched .BF for RRR, but it keeps telling me the download operation failed
it also pops up with an error that the update check failed whenever i launch RCP, any clue what might be messing up this process?
Hi! That is odd. Are you on Windows 7 or 10/11? Does it say anything else in the error message?

@@hyodraa Ah I see, I think I know how to fix it then. I'll look into it next week. In the meantime you can enable manual downloads in the settings page. That won't work for app updates, but it will allow you to download the BF patch.

This is awesome. :) Is there a way to mod, or import modded Rayman Origins files using this? I'm guessing it has something to do with the Archive Explorer but I'm still very much a noob at this sort of thing.
Yep, you can import files to any UbiArt game :) If you go to the game options in the program you'll have the archive options under "Utilities". Then you can open the game's archive file and replace any file. Let me know if you have any questions!

Depends on the file you're replacing. If it's an image (game texture) then I have implemented the option to import from common image formats (and can add support for more if you'd like). If it's not an image file then the extension will have to match. So if you're replacing a music file in Origins it has to be a .wav file etc.

No. Only R2 and RM since their disc installers don't work on modern computers.

Hi! It's a bit complicated installing it, but what you can do is this:
- Copy the files from your disc to your computer
- in the Rayman Control Panel (RCP) go to the "other" tab under "games" and choose to locate "Educational Games". Select the folder you copied from the disc.
- Press the drop-down arrow on "Educational Games" and chose "Options". Go to the options tab and press the edit button on the game you added. Set the mount path to your disc (select it as a drive instead of a file) and set the launch mode (the difficulty of the game, usually like FG1, FG2 etc.) and accept
- Go to the settings in RCP and set the DOSBox file path at the very bottom
After this you should be able to run the game as normal through RCP :)

@@johnlackland3434 Hm, it shouldn't be running as limited version. Make sure the mounting is set up correctly, so when you selected the disc drive to mount to that it's the same drive letter you have the disc in.
Regarding adding other games, there's a button to add games in the options for the educational games.

i have one more question (sorry) I also own Rayman M with 2 discs when i try to instal theim with a disc it says a file is missing. is there any way to find this file online?
@@johnlackland3434 That's odd. You probably have some regional copy of the game I haven't tested it on. You can just do the same for Rayman M though - so copy the files from the disc to your computer, locate them in RCP and then run the setup and configure the game. Then it should work fine.
Hello! I have a few questions about this:
-Is it safe? This seems nice, but I wanted to make sure not to have any problems with viruses...
-I bought Rayman Forever on the Ubisoft Store, but as of right now, I can't use the Mapper. Everytime I try to, it just deletes itself. So I can only play the levels on Rayman Designer and not much else. Can this program fix that?
-Rayman Forever is missing a lot of the tracks. Can this program fix that as well?
Edit: is there a Rayman Origins complete OST as well? Maybe it's too much to ask, but I can't seem to find the complete soundtrack anywhere else
- Yes it's safe. It's open source as well :) I made this as a passion project to organize Rayman PC patches and tools.
- Sounds like your anti-virus program is deleting it. It's a common problem with Rayman Forever. This is due to some of its files (including the Mapper) actually have a malware in it. It's inactive though, so it won't do any harm, but anti-viruses still detect it. The Rayman Control Panel has the option to replace these infected files with the normal ones (taken from another disc of Rayman Designer which is not Rayman Forever).
- Yes, the Rayman Control Panel has two solutions you can use. The first is to add back the original PC soundtrack and the second is to mod in a per-level soundtrack based on the PS1 version :)

yo, i just bought rayman 2 and its not launching any ideas (uplay)
Try and copy GliVd1vf.dll from the Rayman 2\DLL\Glide folder to Rayman
2\DLL.

@@gabrielvanderhaghen711 I don't own the Uplay version myself so I'm not too familiar with it. The fix I suggested is one I've heard other people say fixed their issues with the Uplay release. Other things I can recommend are:
- Use the Rayman Control Panel to change between DirectX and/or NGlide and see if any of them work

Hi, I'm not familiar with the website that you have linked in the description as the download link, and I'm wondering how I'm supposed to download and install the Rayman control panel. When I went on the website I clicked on the green button that says code and downloaded the zip folder but there was no installation that began or anything when I downloaded the folder. Am I doing something wrong?
To get the compiled exe you need to go the releases page. Here's a direct link to it: github.com/RayCarrot/RayCarrot.RCP.Metro/releases
Then just choose the latest version and download the exe file :)

It worked but the button layout is a little weird, any way you know of being able to adjust the button layout or get around this problem at all?

I have some problems with my Rayman 2 game. I have the old version and I use the control panel to install the game. It works fine but there is no sound at all and sometimes the game suddenly exit with an error message. There is something I can do to fix these things? I have windows 10 if it matters.
Sorry but I don't know how to solve that :/ It seems to be a common issue with the CD release. The digital versions don't have this issue.
1. Download rayman 2 version "Ubisoft" not "GOG"

This is for PC games only.
Its easy
First open file explorer and go to documents and copy the ubisoft folder or rayman legends folder and paste it on your desktop
Second reinstall rayman legends
Third open rayman legends and create a new game
Forth close rayman legends and copy the ubisoft folder or the rayman legends folder from your desktop
Fifth open file explorer and go to documents then paste the folder
Note: the ubisoft folder or rayman legends folder on documents folder is your save game file

Where are you downloading from? If it's not working on raym.app you can try from the releases on the GitHub.

how to open Rayman Control Panel? when the exe file is started, it just crashes, I downloaded only the exe file
Does it show an error message? Does a crashlog file get created next to it after the crash?
@@RayCarrot no file is not created but when you run the exe file, the error "program terminated" immediately appears

@@Mazinilya On Windows 7 you need to make sure you have .NET Framework 4.8 installed. If you haven't run Windows Update in a while it might not be installed, in which case you can do so manually: dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework/net48

hello, Whenever i launch rayman 3 from the control panel my whole screen goes white for 2 secs and then just closes without any error messages or anything

That's the game being weird :p I would recommend using the Better Rayman 3 patch by RibShark.

@@saturnpeax I get notifications for every comment. As I answered on the other video; if you import a mod manually you need to backup your original files. If not then you need to repair the game to restore the files.

Hey, i've tried to open the program go to the settings for rayman 2 but it keeps crashing with the error saying "The requested lookup key was not found in any active activation context"
That's odd. Can you send me the crashlog file please? Either upload it somewhere or email to raycarrotmaster@gmail.com.
@@RayCarrot Its okay now, i fixed the problem by opening with administrator. Another problem im not having is that i cant open rayman 2 with the direct x option ticked.
You shouldn't need to run as admin though, so that's weird.
Regarding R2, what's the issue with DirectX?
RayCarrot well I just select the option to run with direct x, I can see it briefly open but then doesn’t decide to boot to anything at all and shuts its self off yet if i set it to glide there’s no problem at all
Then it's probably best to use glide. The game has a lot of issues on modern computers, so use what works for you.
can you get the original intro video to play on rayman forever using this?
No, they actually removed the code itself in the exe responsible for playing it, so it's not possible to add it back sadly

Optimum uses an older version of Rayman 1 with the intro still available.
For RCP, you need to correctly set the mount path and DOSBox path in the settings.

@@Noh_Mercy The DOSBox path should be any version of DOSBox.exe. The mount path for the GOG version is "Rayman Forever\game.ins".
how do i get rayman 2 to run on the high resolution in the game i went through gog
It just reverts to low or medium settings and i cant put it in widescreen because it does the same thing
@@rockenrobin2585 It depends if you're using DirectX or nGlide. I think only DirectX supports higher than 720p, otherwise it reverts down to a lower resolution.

@@RayCarrot the thing is I want to use direct x but when I try to the game just doesn’t launch at all
I also can’t run in 720 p it’s stuck in 480p or 800x 600 and won’t go up higher or I just don’t know the numbers

The app wont open for some reason. It downloaded just fine, and it's still here, but it doesnt do anything when I execute it
That's odd. No crash log or anything? It should start with a license prompt. If it's in your download folder try moving it out of there. Otherwise it might be some overprotective anti-virus. I know Avast tends to flag "uncommon" programs and prevent them from opening (basically if it doesn't recognize the program it thinks it's unsafe).
Also to double check, your on Windows 7 or 10? The app won't work on other systems.
@@RayCarrot it is Windows 7. And no message appears. It just wont play.
Edit: also, I moved it to tthe Desk Top. Does that help?
@@galegopaulista4564 That's odd. The only time someone else has had that issue was when their anti-virus was preventing it from opening. If it crashes you should get an error message, so it seems more like something is preventing it from opening.
@@RayCarrot yeah, I just don't know what's preventing it from opening. I checked it with McAfee and it didn't find anything bad
Edit: not even Avast found anything bad
@@galegopaulista4564 It's not about them finding anything when scanning, it's a sandboxing feature where they prevent execution of uncommon programs. There should be some settings for it in there. If it's not the case then I sadly don't know what's happening. If there was an error message I could probably fix it, but right now I don't know what the issue is, sorry :/
