By far the best short instructions I've found so far, and you included the abbot play. Thank you! I'm going to have new players watch this before game night so they at least have a slight clue of what is happening.
I finally under stand the stealing part of it. Been playing this game on my phone so it added it for me. I bought the physical game for me and my gf to play and needed to know 100% how to score. This the best most straight forward review iv watched. Thanks!!
Thank you! very informative video. I just bought the game recently and going to play it with friends the very first time. you make it much easier for beginner. thanks again. :)
No BS Guide yes please! I just got Carcassonne in the mail today and im going to play it later with some friends. and my friends have no patience for me to teach them the rules for Shadows
If a tile has a city and a piece of road.. and if city is getting completed and for road there is no road around... can i place that tile? Will this be allowed?
I like the alternative harder rules: - 2 monastery cant be next to each other side by side - city made from 2 tiles only scores 2 points, not 4. (or just 1 point to make players avoid do small cities) - unfinished features all scores half points, not just cities (orharder level: just 1 point only for each features, no matter how many tiles) With harder level rules you need smarter strategy.
I'd really love to see you do a 'no bs' guide to caverna games. All the introductions found on the web are usually 40, 50 minutes long.. I believe you can do better :)
The River REPLACES the start tile. First, place the spring in the middle of the table, then beginning with the youngest player, players take turns drawing and placing river tiles until they run out. You must connect river to river when placing river tiles. The final player then places the lake to end the river (or in the case of the River II, they'll place the Volcano. Also in the case of the River II, the beginning player will place the Fork as their first tile). Whenever you place a river tile, you may place one of your meeples on that tile. The river may never U-turn (additionally with the River II, the forks of the river may never meet). After all river tiles have been placed, play continues as normal, and you'll have a much bigger area of tiles to start the game off with.
It's OK. You should probably have mentioned somewhere that there are many expansions. I've never played with the abbot or gardens myself and have played several different expansions.
This video does not include any expansions. These instructions are for the most recent edition of the base game of Carcassonne by Z-Man Games. Older editions do not include the abbot. Thanks for the comment!
If a player doesnt have a meeple on an unclaimed road or city, and their new tile completes it. Can they place a meeple and immediatly earn those points?
Thanks for the no bs. Im tired of the 12 minute introductions and antics from washed out celebrities trying to pay the rent. Just fucking tell me how to play the game already! Thanks again, man!

Thanks, Mark! I hope your players find it helpful.

That's the best part of all! Keep on gaming.
Great explanation of an classic tabletop game. Thank you!
Thank you! very informative video. I just bought the game recently and going to play it with friends the very first time. you make it much easier for beginner. thanks again. :)
This is much clearer than the tutorial on the Board Game arena. Thank you!
I recently started playing this game on ipad and it has me hooked......Great classic game
Yeah this is the best explanation out there! Thanks!
Thanks for this - best Carcassonne tutorial video with No BS! :)
You're welcome, I'm happy you enjoyed it!
Nicely done
Really NO BS - VERY USEFUL, thanks !!!
Absolutely!
Great explanation. Thanks a lot! I've been playing the iOS version. I don't think that has abbots -- unless I've been oblivious!
Nice explanation
good explanation and short enough

Have fun, Carcassonne is the game that got me into gaming! Lots of fun memories.

thank you! Finally understand them damn Abbots and Farms
The Abbots were a very strange addition to the core game. I'm glad I could help you better grasp their function!
No BS Guide Ever think about doing the rules for Shadows over Camelot?
Indeed I have! I'm currently writing the script for Caverna, so maybe I'll have to tackle Shadows over Camelot down the road.
No BS Guide yes please! I just got Carcassonne in the mail today and im going to play it later with some friends. and my friends have no patience for me to teach them the rules for Shadows
good one - support comment
If a tile has a city and a piece of road.. and if city is getting completed and for road there is no road around... can i place that tile? Will this be allowed?
If there is an incomplete city with meeples placed and there is no way the city can be completed can I put the meeples back to my supply?
I like the alternative harder rules:
- 2 monastery cant be next to each other side by side
- city made from 2 tiles only scores 2 points, not 4. (or just 1 point to make players avoid do small cities)
- unfinished features all scores half points, not just cities (orharder level: just 1 point only for each features, no matter how many tiles)
With harder level rules you need smarter strategy.
If you add Inns & Cathedrals expansion, the game will get harder and a lot more interesting
My game has a river as well, but I cannot find the instructions. How does that play into this?
I'd really love to see you do a 'no bs' guide to caverna games. All the introductions found on the web are usually 40, 50 minutes long.. I believe you can do better :)
You're in luck! Caverna is the next video I'm making!
A guy I knew got his jaw busted in this game over an argument about some road.
How do the rivers work? Do I place them down before the start tile
After all river tiles have been placed, play continues as normal, and you'll have a much bigger area of tiles to start the game off with.
Is that a legal move at 7:32? Can you place a meeple when it's specifically the last tile placed on a feature to bank the points?
Yes, in other video show the same situation and they confirmed that you can place meeple when place the last title.
It's OK. You should probably have mentioned somewhere that there are many expansions. I've never played with the abbot or gardens myself and have played several different expansions.

If a player doesnt have a meeple on an unclaimed road or city, and their new tile completes it. Can they place a meeple and immediatly earn those points?
Yes. But then you can not claim anything else on that tile :)
Thanks for the no bs. Im tired of the 12 minute introductions and antics from washed out celebrities trying to pay the rent. Just fucking tell me how to play the game already! Thanks again, man!
your supply is *FINITE*

What is BS?
I feel ipad version is better than actual physical game....abbott is my favourite expansion
I understand what a knight, farmer, monk, and abbot are, but WTF is a meapel?
