R32 GTR Low Oil Pressure?!

Having low oil pressure on a Serie 1 Rb26dett can get quite scary. Those engine thend to have a small crankshaft to oil pump collar and fail - in this video I show my diagnostics and how I fixed my issues on the 1991 R32 GTR.

A couple pieces of advice for anyone doing this after I did this myself. 1. The piece that the pressure sensor screws into can be removed by removing the 2 10 mm bolts below the sensor. If you're already changing your oil, just remove those 2 bolts and save yourself the headache of trying to unscrew the sensor in such a tight area. I discovered this after hours of screwing around with a short 17 mm wrench and not being able to get enough leverage to get it off. 2. The oil pressure sensor for these cars is the same as the 300zx, so if you don't want to pay for an oem one, or you don't have the time to wait for one bought online, just source one for a 90s 300zx from your local parts store.

I stumbled upon your video while having the same issue with my car. Oddly enough I've thought the gauge was kinda low but never bothered to look up what the normal reading should be. Have you had any issues with low oil pressure or related issues since you replaced the sender?

Yes the senders have been on the engines over 25+ years. You did a great job check with a mechanical gauge

Thanks! Weirdly enough, I think the actual gauge on tge cluster is also acting up after having replaced the sender unit.
