one of the reasons I think the response to this album is somewhat polarized is expectations. a lot of people seemed to have been expecting self-titled 2.0. whereas after the self-titled bonus tracks, Pull From the Ghost, and first single, I thought it was pretty clear they were evolving their sound a bit.
Well. I did enjoy the self titled, but I got really bored after only a few listens. I was turned off a little by all the comments I read about the new album, but now I'll check it out for sure. I feel like I'll probably enjoy it more than their last few albums.
Yeah in my opinion it was also the way they put out the singles and the order in the album In my opinion they selected the singles very wrong. Crawl Backwards out of Heaven would be an amazing non-single outro track. Blue reverie would be a great break track (a sort of a softer moment in the album). Cure overall is too outstanding to put out as a single - by that i mostly mean he chorus vocals, and after listening to the entire album I feel like Idle Wild is a weaker version of Pale Iris (mostly because the chorus in both songs sounds very similar). What I would do is swap Pale iris for Idle Wild, not release Blue Reverie as a single, swap CBOOH for Wish and Glimpse, and instead of Cure I'd have wave as a single. Also the order of the album should change and bonus - I would put pull from the ghost in here as well. Wish/Glimpse should be the intro while CBOOH should be the outro
As someone that is obsessed with Health, I’m very happy to discover this album through you, never heard of Erra and this song sounds very Healthy indeed. I adore industrial/metal/dance hybrid music 🔥
God I really love this album. I am all for the mellowed out evolution to their sound. A really nice mix between softer and the more energetic stuff would be ideal imho
Yea this album SLAPS and imo completely changed the trajectory of this band if their management does them right. They needed THIS album and they did it perfectly.
Nath and johnnys (The Breakdown) interview with them is a must watch. I wasn't sure on first listen but after hearing jesse and jt explain there ideas and motions for the songs, my perspective has completely changed. This album is beautiful!
I struggle with those dudes. Like, they seem nice enough, but the way they constantly pause songs during reactions means the listener (and most importantly them) can never get a proper feel for the flow of a song. Same energy in interviews. Couldn't sit through it.
@@cedarforest23 Entiendo el punto pero antes de ver la reacción yo escucho el tema y después la opinión de ellos, lo mismo con Metalbirb, Nik entre otros.
Pew pew pewwwww Their self-titled is GOATed IMO but this song is a step in a bit of a different direction while still maintaining their sound. Def one of my favorites off Cure. And Glimpse. Love this whole album
I fucking love this album because instead of Self Titled 2.0, they gave us Drift 2.0 and Drift is still my favorite album. I love Vibey ERRA more than Riffy Heavy ERRA.
@@vagrantender I could have appreciated the OG comment. But Idle Wild is one of the worst songs they've ever written. Overly repetitive, monotonous, uninspired. You're right, it's not S/T 2.0. Songs like that wouldn't have made their b-reel.
I thoroughly enjoyed this album, loved the vibe Erra was going for with it. Been a fan since the beginning and have no issue when bands evolve and try new stuff, people are clutching pearls acting like they can't go listen to Impulse and Augment to get the old sound.
Have to admit i listened to the new album in the car first time round and was a bit underwhelmed, but has been playing non stop on my headphones since Saturday. Agreed self titled was amazing but a different era, and would have probably been more dissapointed if it were self titled 2.0. Fab job guys
This will be out of context here we are: I still think if Alan Rigdon never left, it will be a lot of different. Since Alan Rigdon left, All Guitar riffs was written entirely by Jesse from Drift up to Cure. Never heard that sean price or the new guitarist write an entire song like Alan did.
i am on pro erra twitter so maybe i only saw the positive, but i havent seen much hate now that its fully released. I think people and myself included were a little underwhelmed with the singles as they didnt stack up to the best of the rest of their discog. But with context, everything makes sense and its definitely a record that is meant to be listened to as an album, not something that you pick songs from. I have favorite moments from the album for sure, but the entire thing feels like a front to back experience which is something we rarely get these days and especially in the oversaturated genre that is metalcore.
The best song off this album is Rumor of Light that chorus especially the ending chorus is sexy af but then again so does the rest of the album haha rare 10/10 for me
Pewpewpew. But seriously folks. I've been a huge fan of erra since impulse! The only album that was meh to me was neon. Otherwise, they have no bad albums! The first play of this album for me was underwhelming. BUT. Now I can't stop listening! Cure, idle wild, and glimpse do something to me!
I definitely heard Bad Omens influence on this one... but also "Rule of Nines" type Spiritbox influence too. Unless I'm completely imagining that, but considering they've worked with Courtney before it's not a huge stretch. Also pewpewpewpew
CURE is a Good Album. I miss some heavy parts like in the Self Titled Album, still their Songs are unique. The Mix of the Cleans and JT Screams is Good. I Like the change of sound and more of Jesses Vocals. Still all the Released Songs as Music Videos are Great. Wish as an Intro for Glimpse is Cool. I Like the Self Titled More and is even one of my Top 5 Albums. I Rate CURE an 8.5 out of 10. I Miss some Heavy Parts but its still an Good Album and will be jammed until i got my CD.
Pew pew pew pew pew. The album if fine, but just not for me. I prefer what makes Erra sound like Erra. If the album was covered by another band, I would never guess that it was an Erra album.
I find that Erra has really moved from a band that would do one, maybe two choruses, with tons of fun leads and guitar work, to what we get with Cure. And while half of the album is enjoyable, it's also bogged down by songs with 3-5 choruses each. And that's just way too much repetition. This album feels very BMTH influenced, with more electronica and industrial vibes. In places it works, but like with Silent Planet and While She Sleeps, it quickly becomes grating if overused. I'll say, this song is a 7.5 for me, and it's still a highlight at that.
It’s really not though. It’s ok, but this whole album is a complete change for me. Where’s the complex and melodic guitar parts? Everything is basic on this album.
It’s wild to me that people think this album is average. I can understand maybe thinking average for an Erra album, but the music itself is still top tier compared to everything else out there

It was pretty clear, people just aren’t being very open minded over it. They’re judging the album by what they expected rather than by what they got
