What's it like living in Miami? Well first off, there's perfect weather for half the year but the other half is hot and humid with hurricane season and lots of rain during the Summer. It's actually one of the largest cities in the USA and one of the best cities for young professionals, which is probably why it's growing incredibly fast! It's also, along with Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Jacksonville and Miami Beach Suburbs, one of the 10 best places to live in Florida AND all of America. If Florida has a high quality of life with the most beautiful beaches and sunsets on earth, why shouldn't you live in Miami, Florida?

Glad to hear you found it accurate! I do a lot of research haha, did a little extra on this one as I'm seriously considering moving here as well :)

I was waiting on this I just told a friend from Michigan I would trade all day and every reason you said is so true. Everyone screams they want to live in South Florida until they get hit with that summer heat and they run right back north.
For real. Seems people are super lazy fucks and can't stand shoveling their driveways. Just deal with it, your alternative is feeling like you can hardly breathe for half the year. It's that bad. As an asthmatic living here in the summer is near torture.

I didn't even know what was going on. It was like a movie scene. Explosions in my rear view mirror. People flying off of overpasses. Cars ramming each other. There are no words. I still to this day don't understand it. Mind blowing.

How would you compare pros & cons between your time in Phoenix to Miami? I’ve been living in Phoenix for the last 5 years and had thoughts on moving down to Miami.
@@adamwiley4306 Two of my favorite places. Well, Scottsdale and Miami. Miami is more cultural. It feels like latin America. Great food, great nightlife, great beaches. It has that hot, humid, tropical vibe that a lot of people love. Lots to do, especially considering it's on the ocean. Scottsdale is little more resort-like. More pristine, more luxury, more organized. Nightlife is obviously still very good (old town) and golf is unbelievable. It's a much bigger area (the whole valley) and it has the "mountains" which adds to the landscape, but Miami has the beaches and ocean. Women are beautiful in both places. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either, it just depends on what you prioritize. I'd say give it a go. You can always move back if you don't like it.
Yea they can't drive
Ig you haven’t been to Pune(India)
I am from Miami. Have lived there all of my life.
Pros:
Incredible restaurant/food scene
Culturally latin and diverse
Shopping, museums, architecture, art, and culture
Nightlife and music scene
Amazing winter and spring
Lots of unique areas/ neighborhoods
Cons:
Extremely expensive
Hot, humid, and rainy May - November
Hurricanes and flooding
Vain and narcissistic people
Low wages compared to cost of living
Strong economic divides
Traffic, drivers, and parking
You hit it on the head!
yes, Felipe! I lived there for 20 years. I did not have roaches or pests and with a nice breeze off the ocean, no mosquitoes. The materialism and vanity got to me for sure. Now happily living in the countryside of upstate New York.
@@orbitunderground4475 great! And yes I personally do not think summers in Miami are that bad. And I never had a bug problem either. August and September are typically the worst months of the year because of the hurricanes. I love the city I grew up in and also recognize the many problems.

But still “a paradise”.
Born and raised in the Miami area for 18 years. The materialism and gold digger part is so true. It's honestly not the place to be if you hold any humble values. Like he said, the main positive part about this area is the year-round warm weather; but Southwest Florida experiences the same and so do the Keys if you can afford it. @@Xrpxlm7 Dallas right now is rapidly growing and thriving, both economically and population wise, so Dallas would honestly be a better choice. And its much cheaper living there. @Papa Nico no papi stay over there or reconsider some place else the point of this thread and entire video is based on why you shouldn’t come here. Trust me your not missing out on a life you weren’t born into

Thanks for this video. Last time I visited Miami was 2017, and vowed I would never return. It's sad that a place so beautiful can actually be so ugly. The people are horrible. You are spot on with all points covered...
I’ve lived in Miami for almost 2 years, and it’s by far the worst place I’ve lived. Coming from the Midwest, I’ve never gotten used to the lack of character and lack of manners from the “people” down here. I keep counting down the days until my lease is up, so I can move back home.
Move out of Florida this state sucks.

Me and my wife went to Miami for 5 days. It was out worst vacation by far. The people were rude and self centered. The people had a really bad attitude. The customer service was the worst I've ever experienced. I went to a bar / restaurant and the lady literally never gave us a menu, when we did get one, she never brought us the food. Then she yelled at me for getting mad at them. I've never been to a place where they don't even bring you the food and menu! I had a $200 dollar dinner and the experience was just average! People honk at everything. People move to the city for the Amenities. Miami has none. There was literally nothing to do and the few things you could do closed really early. The price for everything was way too high for shitty service or value they provided. The hotel took our deposit 3 times and never refunded it and this was the first time out of all the places I visited that did that. And the urban sprawl is ridiculous.

I remember this one time when some friends and I visited the US and we drove down to Florida and had to chill hours and hours on the I 95 because of an accident, afterwards we heard that it is the the Interstate with the most fatal car accidents in the us

I agree with the driving part. I drive for a living in Miami. I literally get to work late everyday because of car accidents. Also people never use their turn signals because we don’t let anyone in when they do. So everyone seems like they’re racing but no just a bunch of selfish people. Miami just got more expensive than los Angeles. Miami just became more expensive.
Well-made video! I've still never been to Miami before in my 31 years of living. I definitely wouldn't want to move there just because of the hurricanes alone, but I would feel more motivated to visit if I knew someone who lived there, and if covid wasn't such a big problem there now. Miami sure is a beautiful city though, but the inside matters more than the outside. In city terms, the reputation matters more. I want to be around folks who aren't difficult to put up with. I definitely believe what the narrator said about some of the folks of Miami being obnoxious.
I like the city of Miami, the culture, the tropical weather, the scenery but the people are rude, we experienced rude people in so many different places. It ruins the place, and the drivers are so impatient and aggressive and use the hell out of that horn. Also Miami is so dense and crowded.
I wanted to go to Miami next week but then I start thinking about everything I didn’t like about it and I kinda don’t wanna go anymore, might just go to Tampa: People seem so miserable in Miami. Miami also gives the impression that people have to show off whatever they may have. Lots of exotic and luxury cars everywhere

I was raised in Miami and moved out 8 years ago. I should have left that toxic city 20 yrs ago.
As a someone who was born and raised, and is still living, in Miami, I can agree with most of these points. However, I disagree with the point of poor education. Miami is the 4th largest school district in the United States, and they do a great job of providing us with a free and amazing education. There is little to no emphasis on looks rather than education here.
I agree the education in Miami is better than other states 100% but Good Education in a Bad Environment! Like the dream of becoming an Influencer! Being rich fast! Being able to fit into the narcissist culture, or being left out in a classist society! The emphasis on looks is in the society, and that will influence the kids. I studied in Florida and have always said the education is good but when the kids grow up, they assimilate the culture.
There is no such thing as free Mr Cordova. - we all pay for education no matter how it’s framed or suggested by Obama or Biden or whichever democrat that loves to use the word free.
I was born and raised in Miami for 14 years and moved to a small town in June 2014 due to the high cost of living, traffic, and the mortgage of a house.
As a Miamian, this is 200% true. Let's just say everyone will go in to debt trying to own a luxury vehicle and believe it brings an elite status among the rest, this city is so rude they confuse town's or city's 2 star service is a 5 star service here.

The weather may get bad in the summer but it sure is better than Houston. When I get a full time job, Houston would be the only city I would avoid moving to because of weather.
True
I have lived in Houston and now live in Miami, and can confirm that Houston's Summer is more oppressive. In addition to the heat and humidity, Houston doesn't enjoy the ocean breeze relief and it has air pollution. Houston's daytime highs are nearly always hotter, and its nights bring zero relief. This isn't to say that Miami's Summers are a picnic (they aren't) but Miami's Summers are not the worst in the nation by any stretch of the imagination. It doesn't often get above the low 90s for its highs, and rain often brings some relief to the heat in the afternoons.
@@jlpack62 Houston and Texas in general probably has worst summers. Far west enough to get the 100+ desert temperatures, yet far east enough to get gulf humidity, yet also too far west to get the frequent cooling rain that comes off the gulf, making it worse than sun belt states both to the east(frequent cooling rain and more moderate temperatures) and west(no humidity)
Number 2 is the reason I moved from Miami to Atlanta , the wages are better and the cost of living is cheaper
I have been a Miami native all my life which is 47 years and I must tell you that this video is extremely spot on! With regards to the languages in Miami, even if there is no law, it is highly recommended to know Spanish before moving to Miami. There is no thing as a Hispanic person whose first language is English and not everyone who completes K-12 education is proficient in the language; not one rumor or allegation. The people who love to say how "bilingual" the city is, they are just doing a gloss over all over the Internet and social media. They know the primary/prestigious language is Spanish for those living in the city but don't want to startle the tourism and hospitality industry to protect the bottom line. All the "good jobs" in the private sector demand applicants who speak Spanish or English and Spanish. There is no way an ordinary monolingual English speaker can live in Miami and not feel a strong degree of inadequacy because of a lack of Spanish in mind.
So how can any white or black American move to Miami and not know the language. It is the Hispanic immigrants who are moving to Miami not them.

I mean, they drive like they're IN a Grand Theft Auto Game under the belief that there are no consequences for their ignorant and selfish and DANGEROUS inability to drive. And what's worse, the bad drivers are always the ones who walk away from the accidents THEY cause.
Most of this for the City of Miami is true. If you want to meet less superficial people then leave the City of Miami limits (South Beach, Miami Beach, Downtown, Brickell, etc) and go further north into Miami Dade County and the rest of South Florida. The City of Miami is now made to only cater to the tourists and the rich so it's not truly ideal to live in that city if you're not making that much money. Now for the bugs, weather, and crazy traffic-yeah that's everywhere you won't escape that lol. Coming from a born and raised South Floridian that doesn't live in the City of Miami but watches from a far this video is pretty accurate 👌
agree , this is crazy so much traffic that you cant barely drive. 1 year ago there was a lot of traffic but now it is in another level, horrible HORRIBLE.
Miami area has 7 of the top 10 high schools in Floria, so they do have good education system within the state
Can you do top 10 cities in the world?
I live in Ft Lauderdale and absolutely despise Miami. Honestly Miami Beach is even worse, but either way the infrastructure is terrible and public transportation options are severely limited. It doesn't help that Miami Dade Transit has made several cuts in the past few years and is under threat of even more cutbacks soon. I think one reason for so many cuts is that since 2018, Miami has ordered hundreds of new natural gas powered buses, replacing many older diesel buses as old as 20 years, plus the cost of adding CNG fuel stations in all three of their bus garages. Also the metrorail isn't free, it's only free now due to Covid, however the metro mover is always free, but doesn't cover as many areas.
Shit, I even despise Ft Lauderdale sometimes. As soon as I finish school, I'm moving out of this state.
Where are you going to move to?
fort lauderdale becoming a lot like miami now. more aggressive drivers and more spanish everywhere.
@AuthenticVibezz I’m moving there soon and I’m excited
I love Ft Lauderdale and I love my state, sucks 4 u I guess. You don’t have to trash your state lol no state is perfect
@@dellgary7539 yeah I know. My sister lives here too but she loves it and doesn't ever want to move. That's fine, but this place ain't for me. I grew up in the north so I know what life's like up there and truly miss it. And for what it's worth, it's a beautiful place in general, but I'd rather be here as a visitor than resident.
As a Miami native I can say this is true.
One of my reasons for not wanting to move to Miami is…
If you don’t speak Spanish, then you lost and it’s gonna be harder to build relationships with them.
It’s gonna be very hot all year round and the humidity is worse.
Bugs is also a third reason for deadly viruses.
Traffic is also a major factor and a big problem and the worst drivers by not using turning signals.
High cost living is also gonna be a major issue because rent/mortgage rates goes up every year.
Parking garages is also terrible and we have to pay for it just for parking.
There are a lot of crimes and the neighborhoods are also terrible.
People who are millionaires and billionaires are easier accepted by the wrong types of people.
Low wages is always gonna be a major problem everywhere you go, so it doesn’t matter where you live.
Flooding will also be a major problem if you live by water.
If you want to live in a sauna bath, south FL is for you. I was born and raised in the Houston TX area, which is hot and humid during the summer, but Miami is much worse. I went there once on business and was shocked; I did not know that such a place existed anywhere in the continental US.
Best thing about Miami - it is very close to America. I have a place in Coral Gables and only spend time there a few weekends in the summer and from Nov to beginning of May.
He is spot on about Gold Diggers - if you like having a different depository every night this place is good.
When I was younger I wanted to go to Miami because that's where the Golden Girls lived. 😆
It was taped at Warner Brothers studio in Burbank Cal, the house on the opening was from a set house at MGM studios now Disney’s Hollywood Studios close to Orlando.
Representing life in Miami but I love that show anyways ❤️
omg, same!!! Sorely disappointed when I learned it wasn't even taped there
I lived in Miami for 5 years, now moving out, unescapable heat June to November, its even hot and humid at night, its like walking in a hot steam room at NIGHT, not to mention people suck here. Also in January more than half of days are above 80. You will get sick of it. In cold weather you put on another layer, in Miami heat, you stay inside.
Agreed! I left in early December !
Next : Top 10 Reasons NOT to Move to New York , New York
As a New York native I would definitely want to see that
I just spent a month in miami and everything he is saying is so true.
I live about 1 hour north of miami and have been there countless times and can 100% confirm everything this dude said about the place, especially about the pests, traffic, and the heat that literally has you drenched in sweat after literally 5 minutes outside on a normal summer day.
If you live one hour north then you should have almost similar weather. What 2/3 degrees cooler maybe?
@@Yeshua_is_king_2024 Exactly why living there is a bad idea unless you are a retired cuban.
@@Ben-bm8cu Miami is wild. It makes sense to live there if you’re young and have a good job.
Ok. Thank you so much for telling me about Miami speaking Spanish. Honestly I didn't know that but thank you
First non Native settler came from Puerto Rico.....
Juan Ponce de Leon.
Alot of people came from Cuba so of course spanish is their native language so of course spanish is a necessity
@@donnelladams8362
Florida was a territory of Spain, before any of the 13 US colonies existed.
Thats also why Spanish is common
And a lot of Spanish-language networks(Univision, Telemundo) are headquartered there - they produce some telenovelas (soap operas) there.
@@graydon5497 your cap all Miami speak Spanish I live here u can’t even get a job if you don’t speak Spanish
If you want to live in “paradise” you’ll have to pay for it. The weather fantastic, it is living in an eternal vacation. If you cant afford it”move out like I did”. The happiest people in USA, the best people in usa. Magnificent fruits, great chip food, adorable nighborho, Coral Gables,Aventura, Kendall, Etc were people live in beautiful houses, great schools, if you cant afford it” go live were your pocket can effort it” but dont come to say”queen that everything is horrible because they did not spoke only one language, or dance only one kind of music. So if you redy do as more than 100 of my family and friends did: moved to Miami-Dade ready to enjoy it, integrate to all the group and wirk, yes there is great work. The difference is that people in Miami live in big houses , enjoy luxurious lives and are ready to “dance , go to the beach, try new things and stop looking at life with grey eyes!viva Miami!
I'm not a big fan of bugs and warm temperatures. I like staying nice and cool and bugs are like one of my worst enemies. I can't stand them especially spiders. Miami may seem like a nice luxurious vacation but once u live there for a while it's not like it seems
Number #1 is now so scary true after the Surfside Condo collapse 😳😱
As a former Miami resident I approve. The city is nothing but a big bawdy house filled with drugs and criminals.
I have lived in the Northeast for a long time now. I always wanted to visit Miami and did so last month, I have finally found where I want to live for the rest of my life. I enjoy your videos, however other than flooding issues nothing you mentioned puts me off Miami!
Sorry but that's short sited. You have to live here for at least a year before you know if it's good for you. I've lived in the dead center of this city for a year and a half now and I hate it. The drivers are the most dangerous and disrespectful/uncivilized of anywhere in the entire US, by far. The issue is it affects every other area and category of professional and civil life, because they have a third world mentality so it infects all other areas. School system is bad. Restaurants are not good compared to DC, NYC, San Diego, Denver etc. It's terrible for jobs and pay compared to other major cities. The summer humidity is actually horrific and I say this as a tennis player who spends a ton of time outside. It's unlivable when you sweat 5 minutes after going outside and doing no exercise. All of these factors wear you down over time. It takes about a year or less for you to sour on it in Miami.
Yankees from the Northeast are often rude as hell so they fit in perfectly in Miami. In Florida, southern hospitality stops north of Orlando.
The crime in Florida cities is so much worse than similar sized cities up north. It's stunning. I've been tracking it for years, as I was once planning to move to down there to get away from the winters up north.
Yeah it’s not that bad here YET
You know it's a good day when FromHereThere uploads :)
I thought I’ve seen it all living and driving in NYC, but Miami definitely takes the crown for worst drivers.
The only thing what really puts me off moving to Miami is the people, most people say they are horrible obnoxious judgy people.
Miami is a ruined corrupt Shit hole of criminals con men and they allowed criminals to destroy that place. I am born and raised as a white American with European roots. The jewish community also is very segregated. The worst part is the low wages and the corruption of mafia, gangs, corruption and disgusting people. Fighting legal cases there since of the criminals there. The Spanish people were extremely racist and they didn’t even come from my city. The New Yorkers now have ruined Miami too. The people make the place and similar to London Uk Miami Fl is a cesspool of corrupted people and criminals. I would not recommend living in that city.
How about top 10 reasons not to move to Boston next time? Congrats! Keep up The good work!
You would have to be a really really depressed and negative minded person to live in such a beautiful tropical but modern city and have this kind of view.
Or just not be rich. You're not rich? Sucks to live here. Terrible place for young people just starting their lives, Our minimum wage is a pitiful 8.65. You won't be able to afford anything unless you live with like 4 people minimum. If your life is already at its ending stages and you have all the money to live comfortably then you can ignore the shitty neighborhoods and get yourself a nice quite giant gated house and ignore all the many ugly parts of the city.
its a terrible place. trust me.
Crime has been very high in Miami, that's another reason not to move to Miami.
I am 27 years old. And I’ve lived in Miami since I was 5 and let me tell you. This video & EVERYTHING they mention in it, is absolutely accurate. And I mean it. None of it is over-exaggerated. Hot ass weather that’s unbearable? Accurate. Big ass bugs? Accurate. Everyone flexing the wealth they don’t have? Accurate. People down here are very very superficial. If you don’t have money, or LOOK like you have money, you’re a “loser”. It’s so toxic here. The vast majority of people here are straight up rude. The gators thing is also true lol. Just last week we had florida wild life remove a gator that was in my friends backyard. If you’re looking to move here and don’t make at least $120K.... don’t.
OH, and we HAAAAAATE spring breakers. They litter & destroy our beaches. But the local government caters to them because CREAM cash rules everything around Miami
Perspective from a resident: the main problem that Miami has is low incomes relative to the cost of housing. Family incomes of 60k support a mortgage of roughly 200k. Average house price in Miami: over 400k. Average condo price 300k. Right now, prices are rising at almost 20% per year. This in the only city in the US where renting is more expensive than buying. Result; a “rent trap” whereby the permanently higher cost of renting keeps buying out of reach. Whether or not language is a problem depends on where in the city you are. Many of those 77% who speak Spanish at home are bilingual, or if not, there is usually someone available who is. The narcissistic image is true, but also only in certain parts of Miami. Other parts are full of people who are just scraping by, and don’t have the money to project this image. Re raising a family, very doable here, as long as you have the money to live in a decent neighborhood, Florida schools generally suck, because they are underfunded. Miami is no exception. Re the Party atmosphere. Again, only in certain areas, and only in younger people. Re drivers, i have to agree. Roads are the Wild West, people do whatever they want. After a while, i started doing same, so it evens out. Summary: Miami is a divided city, affluence and poverty. If you don’t anticipate a family income over 100k, don’t move here. Smaller cities north of Miami are much more reasonably priced, and have a similar climate. It’s difficult to find work here that pays enough to comfortably afford housing. This used to be an easy city for people of modest means. Not any more. Why don’t the 23.4% who are poor leave? Latino family, language, culture.
Why don't they go back home to Cuba? That would free up housing for actual Americans, and not immigrants...or anchor babies of immigrants.
I doubt 77 percent are truly bilingual.
I was born and raised in Colorado and have had to suffer through Miami for the past two years. Everything in this video is 100% accurate. Miami is soul sucking and awful. Living here threw me into a deep dark depression that even the year round sun couldn't cure. But I am actually getting out in two weeks!!!! WOOO! Long story short, don't move here. You'll regret it every day of your life.
How did it bring you into depression?
I agree but i find worst to live in a city than everyone is racist
@Vantum Noir why though?
dude....same. moved here from broward some years ago to live with my husband. miami is awful.
Yeah it's pretty hard living in Miami. It totally sucks.
As a proud 305´er Ill say I agree with 90% of this, surprisingly.
Generalizing that people here suck and that its not a good place for kids are the two I cant get on board with, Miami is A LOT more than South Beach.
It's expensive to live in FL, to live in a state that has no state income tax I'd rather live in Las Vegas NV, or any of the metropolitan areas of Texas
