What's worse is that this show always premieres at night....
Yes and in the morning on 6
@@virtuous_veza4924 Same, i used to always watch it when i was a kid.
😂 I remember
Yup!
True
I love it when Courage speaks.
SAME XD
+The DayDreamer I realized in later seasons he didn't speak as much as he did in the first season or second
+Taylor T people complained that since he was a dog he shouldn't be talking so much in the episodes so later on in the seasons he just babbles.
I liked him better when he talked. he was a dog, but who gives a shit. no one understood him except the audience.
+The DayDreamer You gotta be kiddin meh ;(
this show was never traumatizing for me, but more depressing and sad... but none the less a beautiful show. I loved it alot
How?
@@Say_King77The utter poverty they live in
@johnfarlio1830 they didn’t live in poverty though. They had a nice house and a farm with a lot of land.
It was bleak. Invader Zim had the exact same feeling. Idk what was up with these Cartoon Network shows at this time period but they were SO depressing.
@@edot5486people been brainwashed into thinking living and owning a house in the middle of nowhere is poverty but renting a 5k small apartment in nyc isn’t
its so weird to go back to a show i loved as a kid but to grow up and realize how frikken disturbing it really was
word
the last on scares me the MOST cause my brother kept saying "Return The Slab" while i was trying to sleep cause me and my brother used to sleep together
Jimmy Reed homophobe
just because brothers share a bed doesnt mean theyre gay. you must be very insecure with your own sexuality.
Jimmy Reed cyanide and happiness moment right there
Brian Dayawon I thought he said "Return this land".
Raine Bows plus, they are brothers, that would be a very fucked up case of incest.
He meant they share a room
This is a show for KIDS? WTF it scares me even as an adult.
yeah somehow the show was rated y7 (seen at the beginning of the video)
Happylocs ikr
Nai DAngeles tvy7
Nai DAngeles duuuuude Courage was THE SHIT when I was a kid you just being a drama queen 😂
Kid wont scare trust me
Im not until now
That white moon head was a million times more horrifying than king ramses. Ramses was nothing compared to that.
Return the slab.
Dini shire Ahmed Shire the white moon head is nothing compared to the demon clay girl
Return the sla🅱
i know
I think the way the dead spirit says “return the slab” is very disturbing. And the opening scene of that episode is just wtf, I mean, the way it shows the car getting swarmed and shredded by locusts, and then next thing, this whole “curse” is gone. Also, the murky-ness of the scene in general, it’s rendition is terrifying to think that something like that in real life would happen.
I hate the episode where Murial and Eustice turn into puppets. Cause then Courage decides that he's going to use they're dead body's and pretend like nothing happened.
That episode messed me up 😂😭
XD
Ninja_Baseball_Haruhara that's called the great fusilli
You know what's more disturbing?
This was supposed to be the FINAL episode of the whole series. Fortunately, the series was renewed and the show continued. Otherwise, Courage would spend the rest of his life playing with the dead/puppeted bodies of his owners in order to retain his sanity
That fusillis face was nightmarish tbh😂
It still cracks me up when Courage freaks out and turns into a skeleton in a split second when the tree begins to speak. Never gets old.
return the slab scares me to this day
I'm traumatized. when I hear someone mention this show this is the first thing I think about and I shake.
+baconiv1 not really. Everybody has their own perspective of beauty and fear.
Bro same
I was 5 when I saw this and had nightmares for the rest of the week
Yeah I would hear his voice in the middle of the distance.
Glad to know I was not the only one who had nightmares from Ramses. The use of alternate animation styles really helped push the uncanny levels of some of these. The other episode that scared me the worst was the one with the spiders in the motel (I used to be VERY arachnaphobic).
HOLY SHIT I somehow remember this one that u just mention, New memory unlocked
My reaction to the Ramsey episode was the same as yours. It wasn't so scary at first, but after watching it some more and thinking about it it got even more scary and creepy. Even worst the image persisted in my mind and was one of those thoughts in my mind that kept me awake with the lights on at night. I'd lay awake thinking Ramses would show up at the end of my bed, I knew he wasn't real and he wouldn't, but the innate childhood mind couldn't shake the scared feeling.
I totally agreed with you I just woke up the middle of the night just thinking about it and just told my mom like I was saying "mama there's a ghost in the tv show before bed time" so I have to sleep with my mom and dad in bed so to keep me safe I was to young that I'm not safe or not but when I got older I knew I'm safe
I dont know why but, my 4 year old self loved that episode, probably because everyone was inside the house where they are safe, while the threat(Ramses) was outisde doing jack shít.
I had mixed feelings when found out recently that this cartoon was actually inspired by a real life event about an elderly couple who lived in a farm along with their dog vanished the day after the reported seeing strange things happening outside their house one night and their dog was left behind. Courage the cowardly dog was one of my fave cartoon series along with the power puff girls and scooby doo mysteries.
That’s so interesting, I wonder what really happened to them
I would always be afraid of this show when I was little too. Every time it would come on I would turn the cannel so fast....
Damn weird seeing this comment when I watch your vids years later
*Channel*
Woof woof woof
Rawr rawr
I love my mommy 😋
This show taught kids to be courageous actually, i mean..
Dilworth knew a secret that went a long way toward making this show the scary shit it was: sudden switches from one animation style to another are just....incredibly frightening. When we first see it, our brains can't make sense of it for the first second.
Just realized now after seeing Ramses about 15 years later that I remember vividly the creepy music that plays when he asks for the slab back, and it sent shivers down my spine. Like it was ingrained in my memory. Weirdly enough, I was living in Egypt at the time it premiered on cartoon network and a real locust storm happened the same year, a big red cloud. They were bright red, about the length of a hand and dropped by the hundreds to the ground. I had to run with my mom from the shop to home dodging them. No wonder I'm terrified of bugs.
Your picture...
+Aidan Chea LMAOO yo he wildin
You lived in Egypt how
The episode where that clan of eggplants tries to kidnap Murial scarred me. Ever since I saw that episode as a wee child, I've been terrified of eggplants. I've never eaten an eggplant and whenever I see one I get super uncomforable
Everyone is always talking about how much this show scared them as a kid, but for me, I never found it scary. I just remember really loving this show
Number two was the worst for me, I was little when I first saw that head and it scared the shit out of me. I saw 'Perfect' years later when i was teen and that scene never ever bothered me though. As for the 'Return the slab' bit yeah i was scared, but not by King tut, but it was just the opening that always scared me with the bugs coming out of nowhere and swallowing the car whole.
Evilkat23 king ramses, not king tut lol
Un-Allied Opps sorry, I forgot the mummies name and just went with the first one on top of my head
Oh ok lol
Evilkat23 what's the name of number two? i saw it once and i had nightmares for a month
Carlos Sandoval I believe it's The House of Discontent ft. Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir.
Everyone else in the world: “Scared because of the scary scenes.”
Me: “Scared of the old man.”
How do you not mention the Kats Motel with all the giant spiders?! :"(
Love that episode!!
That scared me so much as a kid didn't help I was already scared of spiders before Watching that
Anna Grim I like that episode and I wish Katz' Pet Spiders appeared in more episodes.
i love katz
I love Katz and his theme music, but i didn't love his pet spiders in that eps.
Forget the damn ramses guy! The scarriest guy in the series were that guy with the biggest smile ever and a green costume and he had a hair fetish!
Freaky Fred?
yeah! lol
Naaaaughty
That was definatly one of the creepiest ones i've seen. Had nightmares days after.
I know right !!!!
I looking this 10 years ago later 😂
Still kinda surreal to me that this one just hit 1,000,000 views. It's... not my best work to say the least 😅
I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one that was scared by the tree! It was just such an unsettling transition.
This show used to air at 11:30 pm in my country me and my brother sneak out of our room to watch this and get nightmare.... I love it with every living cell of my body
Goddamn Ramses! I still can't watch that episode without cringing or whimpering.
haha whenever i ask anyone what scared them the most about that show, they say the one with the "return the slab guy" lmao
I misread your comment for "Gordon Ramsey!" and was incredibly confused for a moment lmao
Man it gets me goosebumps when I saw him the first time.
I personally found freaky fred and the weremole terrifiying but the fear has worn off with age. Great show.
The thing is, I was never scared by the grotesque monsters and beings that would appear on this show. I suppose that was because I was exposed to the horror genre long before this but while I recognized that the art style and the creatures and people within were quite hideous, it never fazed me. And that is not written with the intent to make myself sound like a badass, because cartoons like CatDog still greatly unnerve me, even as a late teenager. Absolutely loved this show to death, though.
I always thought that tree look like bat man 💀💀💀
We all get traumatized by weird shit throughout our childhood..
In 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', during the "Spoiled All" song, there's a doll in the cemetery that haunted my dreams for years of my childhood. It was just a doll that didn't move or anything, but those eyes... It was probably more traumatizing than most of you could ever imagine.
Shoegazeable
I think I was crazy, but when I was a little kid I loved Freaky Fred and all the episodes of the show.
RETURN THE SLAAAAAB
What's your offer?
***** *waves my arms around*
mkpepperoni Eh screw it *flips the bird*
If you saw the episode you would know he was talking about a slab lol
Sean Harvey I thought he said "slug".
That violi. Girl scared thr shit out of me and i saw that episode and every single one holy shit
The blue trumpet thing and King Ramses creep me out a bit now as I'm re-watching the show as an adult, but I honestly don't remember getting freaked out by them as a kid, even though I know I did see both of those episodes multiple times. I'm not really sure which scenes I would say were the creepiest for me, maybe Freaky Fred, the windmill curse, or the claymation jumpscare girl.
best cartoon ever made
Fr
The most traumatizing one for me was the episode with kitty. That big mask she wore just haunted my dreams. Especially since I lived out in the middle of no where!
I just watched that episode ;_;
For me it was the one where courage had a dream where these pages shown imperfect beings and showed this freaky Angel just before he woke up. It was the episode "perfect".
the you’re not perfect guy looks like something out of a children’s museum. that’s been defunct for at least 12 years.
Well made list :) It even included most of the things that scared me and my brother when we were watching it back in the old days... I remember being completely traumatized by King ramses and even crying late at night..
The scene where Eustace is on his knees in front of Ramses just antagonizing him...I remember clutching my pillow at the edge of my bed when I was young. Freaking shit. It was terrifying...he just stood there silently. This show brings me great memories.
Yeah I would do the same thing when it actually put on ramses face I would hide my face
The scariest episode for me was the dead vikings attacking the farm.I was watching it alone in my room, everything was fine until I saw a big scary skeleton pop up on my screen.I injured myself from running out of my room that time.God the memories.
Number 1 for me is the episode The Great Fusilli. There's nothing particularly "make you scream" scary in the episode, but when you realize that, at the end of it, Courage is controlling lifeless marionettes that used to be Eustice and Muriel, it's pretty disturbing.
1:00 this always haunted me when i was a kid ☠️
I loved this show as a kid. And never thought anything about it before now when I have grown up.
As much as this show scared me, I absolutely loved it
Scariest episode for me was the season 1 finally were only the dog lives and is mentally insane and is in denial and cant accept it and tries and recreates everything the family becomes puppets forgot what the episode was called
XrunGaming the great fusili
XrunGaming that one traumatized me the most. The more you think about, the more you want to watch one the funny episodes like "Car Broke. Phone. Yes?"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't remember being scared of King Ramses but I used to have nightmares when watching the episode with zombies. Now I watch Courage for fun and "return the slab" is one of my fav quotes of the show
I just wanted to say even though the show was terrifying at some points it was still one of the best shows CN ever had
For some reason courage the cowardly dog didnt traumatize me or scare me as a kid, but the only thing that scared me is the big smile at the end of the credits that would not laugh for a long time
I got over King Ramses quite quickly, but that little girl playing the violin and "You're not perfect" down right traumatized me. They were so unexpected and disturbing.
When I was young, the creepiest part of that episode to me was when there was applause, but only 3 or 4 empty chairs where it came from. Now I see where the episode is really creepy though
The "possesed mattress"
Episode traumatized me the most i watch courage the cowardly dog when i was 3-4 years old and i still remembered it till this day
Never been terrified of this show and I find it delightful and always looking forward watching it as a curious child. Maybe because I have that brain capacity to separate real from a cartoon at such a young age. Idk. I always love how each monsters are presented (drawn, clay, human) and draw monsters in my notebook back then. I love the show for its creativity and Courage was a good comfort character and maybe I only watch this show early in the morning instead of night.
Used to watch this every single night when I was like 4-5 years old, kids these days can’t handle this level of scary cartoons. *2000s era kids built different 🤪*
I used to remember the return the slab sometimes since the last 8 years and was one of the only things I remembered about this show. Scared me for years
"What's your offer?!"
Only Eustace Bagge could ask a freaking mummy that.
KING RAMSES!!! the man in gauze, the man in gauze.
i cracked up laughing when i heard that song play, I just find it hilarious that Muriel and Eustace thought of it as torturing.
I find it as my favorite song.
I can’t hear it because of how loud he talks
This episode gave me so much nightmares as a child. It was scary as hell. And even now it’s still freaky as hell.
The bluepotatothatgrewaface and ramses are what scared the shit out of me when I was a kid
"Mr. Potato Head: Chernobyl edition." Lol!
"RETURRRN THE SLAAAB." "What's your offer?" He's got the right attitude with this guy.
this was my fav show as a kid. it’s no surprise i turned out like this.
Yo came back many years later . ✨
My favourite show
one thing that crepped me out: when courage was running at an angle from that big cockroach guy, bull swick
The second one use to scare the hell outta me!
King Ramses and that giant floating head thing gave me nightmares and scared the shit out of me when I was young
The shadow of that tall boi: OMG IS SLENDERGUY ir spidyboy
I must agree with Ramses! But really, this is one of my favorite episodes, because it was so scary! I loved how they could actually make something this frightening and also, very intimidating with his voice! Not a moment goes by though, when "Return the slab" echoes in my mind at night, that sometimes I still need to turn the lights back on xD!
Does anyone ever mention the flan guy, the quilt, or the episode where Muriel and Eustace turn into paper or something? 0_o I was also just a BIT freaked when that one dude came out of a record player...
No, I'm not referring to the puppet one - I'm sorry, but thank you. There's an episode where they go to, I think, some fair and have someone cut their shapes out of paper. I think Muriel and Eustace planned to frame them. But the sheets of paper come to life and try to take their place(?)
Taylor Fulton I think that one is called profile of a courage or something like that
That fucking violin girl should be number one.
Had nightmares over that shit
We need shows like this that aren’t afraid to scar children
This show is the definition of nightmare fuel
I was a bit more odd. None of these actually scared me when I was little, in fact the Ramses one was my favourite episode...however, there is one scene, that not only scared me, but actually brought me to tears and my mom had to change the channel. I'm talking, of course, about the scene where the fucking Water Lady just appeared at the bottom of the stairs and started to go up...that...was horrible.
How did I managed to sleep at night watching this as a kid anyway? I can't recall
The flan.episode was funny
Alton Rodgers buy fantasy flan 🍮
The CGI is so bad but so scary and this is the creators being low on budget when they made the episode. Amazing work.
I didnt got scared by any episode but the smiley guy who cuts hairs TERRIFIES ME
The one that scared me the worst, I think, as a kid was the goddamn paper one. Sure, it had a happy ending, but when the paper like ABSORBED Muriel and all that was left was her practically mummified corpse...
No thank you, sir. I think I actually avoided this show for the most part until I was almost a teenager because of moments like that.
its a opinion thing but you should switch 4-1 i think
Exactly! That little bitch scares me to this day.
We interrupt this program to give you,
*nightmares for the rest of your childhood*
Ramses isn't scary at all :/
Ikr I find it funnier than scary but he scared when I first saw him when I was younger
I'm pretty sure he's a lot scary
Yeah, King Ramses isn't scary. It looks like he's dancing.
I thought it was scary dancing. i laughed because it looked like dancing, but was freaked the fuck out as well
This resurfaced so many traumatic memories from my childhood. My fear was immense. I had horrible night terrors. I would sleep under my bed in a hidden space because I knew pharaoh wouldn’t find me there
Jesus Christ is Lord and he Loves you ✝️❤️🙏
A shovel handle, razor blade and a light for the attic. What was he plotting?!😮
For the third one, It’s like they took a child’s drawing and said... “ this is it!”
The puppets...FUCKED ME THE FUCK UP.
That lady head had to have been the creepiest. She was so peaceful until she turned around lol
When he said get out of my face and eustace says make me was hilarious
Looking back, the animation was truly ahead of its time
"wait until midnight comes around" made me shit bricks
The parts that scared me were the "perfect" jump scare and the end to the great Fucili.
The little girl playing the Violin and the Blue guy got me as a kid. Also, the one with Courage's parents being sent to Mars scared me. Maybe it was the kidnapping and being alone that scared me.
Freaky fred is what traumatized me
In my opinion the quilt club was the most terrifying one
Oh yeah, I totally remember King Ramsis! That was the first episode I ever watched of the show. I was six or seven when I first saw it, maybe eight. I remember being a little scared, but not so much scared as fascinated. Probably some of the scarier moments for me in the show were (of course, that door opening scene!) and that one episode with Freaky Fred (Thank one was one of the only episodes that really scared me as a child 😬).
I love Eustace smack talking with the harvest moon
The scariest moment of this show was the ending of The Revenge of The Chicken From Outer Space with headless Eustace
2:38
2:34
what's weird is i watched loads of courage as a kid but never even saw the episode with the floating white head. I do believe there was another episode that cartoon network banned as well.
For me, Ramesis terrified me as a kid, I thought every time I looked out the window at night he'd be there. Fred also kinda creeped me out. And then the Gerbil episode just made me super uncomfortable. I didn't feel right after seeing it.
I remember when we'd vacation to somewhere desert like I too feared he'd come a knocking.
I remember whenever it's night time this would always air on tv, and each time I watch it I sometimes change channels because j remember it always use to creeped me out sometimes or is just a sad feeling.
0:29, HOLY SHIT, THE GREAT DEKU TREE!!!
