Can't believe there are 60+ a holes giving a thumbs down. I thought this was very well done and explained well. Gave me some good info for building my own. Thank you!
The most informative and actually heelpful DIY bike trailer video I ve watched so far! And I ve watched many! Well done and thank you for the effort to help and not just brag about what a good trailer you ve made! All the best!
Thank you so much for sharing your designs and your comprehensive discription of your work. I have been toying with the idea of a trailer for a while, and now I really am going to do it. There will soon be a trailer being towed around Scotland!!
@@tonybucca5667 Oh ok, well, I'm sure you have given it a lot more thought than I have so I am by no means trying to be a know-it-all :) The hitch would need 1 more pivot point for a traditional style trailer. It would need a twisting action so that the hitch wouldn't bind when the tractor transitions to a different plane then the trailer (tilting from left to right) Like I said, I'm sure you have given this more thought than I have so you've probably got it covered. It's just an issue I foresee so I had to mention it. In any case, I hope your project goes well and I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful in some way!
I like your trailer, trailer design and your video's. When you cut a hole and weld thru it's called a "rosette weld". I only know because I showed your video to my brother and he's a certified welder.
Gracias amigo,yo no entiendo bien el inglés,pero por los detalles que muestras ,lo entendí casi todo, excelente trabajo, eres un chingón, así les decimos en México a las personas como tu, saludos y buenos deseos.
Very nice and helpful, thanks bro, ...not all people there sincerely show the details. I was looking for ideas practical for my bike, and here you are showing me exactly my mind , already done.... thanks. You are genuine person who wanna help.
Fantastic build and great content very self explanatory just fantastic to the 58 people that don’t like this video stop hating cause you can’t build it
Thanks fore sharing... great simple build and it looks great!!! 💯 % function !!! I guess the only thing I would add is some kind of top rack... I love to fish so I'd build something that could hold my fishing rod case on top... it may fit inside or I just may have to get a smaller rod 🤔 but for the minimal added weight even some simple D ring tie downs would work.. great build!! Took some serious thought and the welding looks top notch. Good work!!!
Like it. Done well, competently, constanna thought-out solutions for details and a good incarnation in the metal. I respect this approach and problem solving.
Thanks bud from Cape Town South Africa, going to build a lightweight version of yours for a Honda 250 Tornado, mainly for off-road. Just need to work out the hitch for the bike the trailer is 100% explanatory thanks. Peter
By far the best video of single wheel trailer construction on UA-cam. I hope you dont mind I will make me one of these in the near future. It would help if you would do a video of the "box" construction. I want my box weather/water tight. Thanks
Great video. I just came back from a 3,000 mile ride to Americade, and Laconia, and a trailer that hits all the points you described as you went around your trailer was rolling around in my head on the way home. Glad to see I wasn't the only one that wanted something very specific and reasonable in cost.
Great job. I have had an idea for quite a while to build something very similar but use a twist and go scooter rear end. Becomes a powered trailer to push you uphill or if your bike breaks down. A 125 four stroke should be OK.
Excellent!!!.Congrats!!!!. Not only very well designed and built but also a very detailed explanation. By any happen aren't you building them for sale?. I want one of it to take my dog with me. Off course, I would need some mods for me to fit my bike as well. Looking forward to your comments 💪
Vert nice design and very nice video. Thanks for sharing this project. The only stuff you can improve is the weight. It is probably way too strong /heavy. Last part I will not copy is the bike part as I want it to be easy and completely removable!
This is fantastic! Thanks for all the information & details you shared. What a tremendous help. I'm hoping to do something very similar but all or mostly aluminum if possible for weight savings as I will be pulling it behind a Yamaha XMAX 300 cc scooter. Not near as powerful or stout as your V-Strom. Thanks again for all the great tips & ideas. Cheers.
Thank you very much! Most of the frame is 1X2 (Can't remember the gage... thin stuff) The tongue and hitch is 1 1/2 X 1 1/2, 1/8. Also the swing arm assembly is 1/8 as well with 1/4 plate for reinforcement. Let me know if you have other questions that I missed, I'll be happy to answer them!
Very nice Trailer do you sell Blue Prints.. ? I asked about a Blue Print before I saw the photos of the individual parts.. They are very helpful .. I think I would make the box from aluminum .. I have seen the expensive factory trailers with fiberglass molded boxes.. Industrial Hardware suppliers would give you hundreds of options for latches and hinges ect.. Tool Utility Trucks ect use many styles of latches and hinges stainless steel ect. lockable ect..
The build was good I was a welder at a motorcycle trailer mfg company in Tennessee called Bushtech your trailer is simple but in a lot of ways it's better because you know everything related to the actual build including where to find low cost replacement parts most people that but a ready made trailer have no clue about the way the mfg company's use certain parts that will fail after only 7000 miles of use and then cost several hundred dollars or more just to get a replacement sent out from the mfg wheel hubs for example are not automotive grade they are utility grade the difference between automotive vs utility grade quality is the utility grade will last maybe 1/10th the mileage and weight use of that of automotive grade technology so hopefully you used an automotive grade wheel hub if so then the components seals barings can be greased and or replaced after 100,000 miles of use the only components in your build that I could see maybe needed upgraded was the wheel Barrow bearings you can stay with them but you mite want to keep enough on hand for 3 full charge outs in the future otherwise great build and thanks for your video
Howdy. I was going to make a similar trailer to tow behind my ST1100s but my job moved from Texas to north Wisconsin (I live in Michigan) and it and my new house have ate all my time. Chains: With the hitch style some places will not require the chains. While it would be unfun to try riding the bike if the trailer fell off and was attached by the chain, most likely for that to happen, there is slim chance you will be in a rideable situation. it isn't like you can have a ball setup that, though locked, is worn enough, or improperly sized and comes disconnected. But I planned to have a chain on mine just to avoid hassles with police when traveling, having already spent an hour in Chicago waiting for a cop to realize that Texas doesn't have registration papers and how to read the endorsements on a Louisiana driver's license (moved to Texas from the New Orleans area and hadn't fully transferred everything before the trip). Before the location change I rode 25,000 miles a year with at least one long trip as a vacation, and several trips to Memphis from DFW. I wanted an easier, lockable way to carry rifles, camp gear etc. Just very back burner now. I see you use Shinko 705 tires. I got 11,000 miles from one rear on my ST. I did modify the tread blocks with sipes and holes to prevent blistering. Uncut, the tires blister in the combo of 900+lbs of bike/rider, and 100+f Texas Heat. My backup bike still has a 705 in 150/70 on it though I need to change the bearings in the wheel and sort an oil leak. Road traction is good enough to drag the pegs, and it was handy when riding the gravel and dirt roads back to some places, though I have little trouble with the Avons on the other bike, the OEMs and the Metzlers I tried were bad on gravel/dirt. Okay, enough rambling. After breakfast, it's out to sort that oil leak on my bike so I can ride.
Great video very well made trailer looks great, is there any room to have a spare wheel fitted , save worrying about the unlucky event that you did need to repair the tyre you could just use the spare., or maybe you have considered it but not thought it is wort it! anyway it looks great and the best of luck with your trailer HAPPY BIKING
.... how about a metal boat trailer fender that you could cut back to the length you desire ... bet harbor freight would have an economical one ..... you've solidified in my mind how I want to construct mine, the frame, the container is still in the works, could be higher with heavy in the bottom and light stuff on top .... thx for your share ... never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....
ingenius design! especially using wheelbarrow bearings for the pivots, one suggestion i have is to not use marrettes on the wiring as they dont hold up to vibration in the long term.
Thx alot for your great idea for the hitch i only got my L for my bike a few weeks ago and was wanting to build a trailer for camping but the hitch was the biggest problem thx
Best design I've seen yet. Been looking for ideas so my dog doesn't have to sit on my lap and can do longer rides.
Can't believe there are 60+ a holes giving a thumbs down. I thought this was very well done and explained well. Gave me some good info for building my own. Thank you!

I'm going to adapt that hitch to a yard cart for my lawn tractor...your explanation of which side goes to the front sold me!
Cool! Is the trailer for your tractor a single wheeled trailer...?
@@mainstreammoto4856 actually, it's 4, but I have had problems with the tipping...It's a homemade cart
@@tonybucca5667 Oh ok, well, I'm sure you have given it a lot more thought than I have so I am by no means trying to be a know-it-all :) The hitch would need 1 more pivot point for a traditional style trailer. Thanks for the excellent explaination of how the joint should be! i figured it wouldn't work the opposite way, but you clarified it for me
I call bullshit. It’s effectively the same thing either way.
I like your trailer, trailer design and your video's. When you cut a hole and weld thru it's called a "rosette weld". I only know because I showed your video to my brother and he's a certified welder.

The U-joint explanation was news to me. Thank you!
Dude, you have golden hands, that finish is awesome so far. Great job ! :)

Projecto???
Good job. You've got good welding skills! I like the frame and would make a false bottom to put my
'survival tools' in!
Ur presentation was in detail. Grand work.
Super nice build, great attention to details. Thx for some ideas on my build.

Good job. I like your chasis design. Simple, inexpensive and parts available anywhere.
Hi Mike... thanks very much for sharing... I will build my own one and you are helping me to avoid mistakes... I really appreciate.... 👍👍👍👍

Smart fella. Ty. Helped me connect dots in my head for my possible build

thank you bro for this idea that was so nice, from Philippines.
Thank you very much, you helped me with your ideas and decisions!
I have a Suzuki v-strom 650 and I was wondering how you made the trailer hitch for your motorcycle. Please let me know. Thank you so very much!!!

Did the same build, but used a cooler then change to a saddlebag trailer worked great
That sounds like a cool idea!... I see a saddlebag trailer in my future...

Good job. Thanks for sharing.
How you made the swing Arm. Looks really awesome.
I think you should put a flat plate to the axel and screw on to the fender that will keep it from shaking

Отличная работа!!!! Сделаю себе такой-же!!!!
Awesome build, why don't you add crash guards bro like the little tabs to protect the box?
i agree with you about the chain lol
Could you actually do another tire up front to keep weight off motorcycle? I have a specific use for the trailer but a smaller bike.
Nice job given me some good information thank you
Great video thank you... thanks for sharing your great ideas :-)

thanks for the very informative video! your the best!
Sir I well understood 👌
CONGRATULATIONS
This is pretty cool. I think if I were to do it, I'd put two, independent wheels on it. Just for shits and grins. But, again, very cool.
Do you have any measurements of the materials you used you could share please?
Thx alot for your great idea for the hitch i only got my L for my bike a few weeks ago and was wanting to build a trailer for camping but the hitch was the biggest problem thx
hello mate, do you have a video with it in action?
nice trailer...did you sell same trailer?
cool video dude I subscribed
