I'm honestly not surprised the Spurs are losing with this young core. No way the Spurs were gonna thrive in such a stacked Western conference to begin with. Also, Pop changing the starting lineup makes sense they really need to find a stable lineup that will allow Wemby to succeed while patching up their turnover problem

Pop is a champ. He knows what he is doing. Think about it - if he tanks for the next 20 years, that will be 20 overall #1 picks on our team. Look at what Wembayana would be surrounded with. NBA players in the future will probably play till they are 50-60 with all of the technology that we have now in medicine. Defintely worth the investment to tank for 20 or so more years.

Hes a rookie and its still an incredibly young team trying new rotations. Pop is trying to develop the other players too which is why they have been filling in different positions. This was never gonna be an overnight change i expected results in like 4 years honestly
Pop signed a new 5 year deal and fully knows they won't win a chip anytime soon so might as well develop players and quietly tank for more lottery talent to coincide with Wembys timeline. I am guessing they are angling for Nicola Topic. And then they have their PG for the future.

Developing players and tanking simultaneously is literally the best result possible. None of the players in the current roster except for maybe Sochan and Keldon Johnson will be there in the next 4-5 years when the Spurs could actually compete for a championship, and they attract no free agents, so they should definitely be tanking.

As a spurs die hard fan - I’m not worried - considering the draft capital they have available they can shuffle everything around. IMHO - I think they’re playing the long game rn and really might just be tanking for another generational talent but possibly a point guard - I could be wrong but only time will tell. It is a disappointing season for sure but I’m a lifer

You can experiment all you want but this season is about developing Victor so why not get a veteran PG to help mentor him, that knows how to set up and feed a young player and teach him the ropes on the field. And someone who knows how to get him the ball. I'm not talking a starter caliber but a vet for 1-2yrs. Hell he doesn't have to help win just help Victor. Watching Sochan trying to learn how to make a simple outlet pass (never mind know a few different ways to do do it) to Vic does zero for his development.

The most important aspect so far for me has been Wembanyama's durability. I thought the NBA game might be too physical for his frame, like Chet Holgren last year. Luckily, it looks like I was wrong - I would say so far so good for Wemby.
He gets good stats but can’t lead his team to shit! He ain’t that dude like Lebron Jordan or any of the greats!

Adam Silver should really look into and investigate those tanking teams. I believe there are teams who doing on purpose for that high draft slot, which ruins the game. We saw that last season with the Mavs.
Coach Pop already has the blueprint on how to play Wemby. Just look at how the Nuggets run offense and defense with Jokic. Wemby has shown flashes of playmaking. Imagine if you develop that playmaking with all that height, flexibility, and reach.
Euros typically has very good play making abilities because they actually play games there by sharing that ball more. In a game when Wemby had no assists, his coach in France called it embarrasing. They are tanking for that 18yr Serbian PG Nicola Topic and then the Spurs will have their PG for the future to pair with Wemby.

Yes the Spurs are legitimately still in rebuild mode after tanking for the first time in a few decades last year when they won only 22 games. The team just isnt being as honest and straight up about it as they were last season. We need to realize when small market teams rebuild it takes a few seasons of tanking to pick up pieces through the lottery due to not having the luxury of signing superstar free agents like big markets do. Also they have almost as many draft picks as the thunder do through 2030 but not many people know this outside of the fanbase so the future is bright.

The Spurs leave Wemby to play PF or any position he liked and take any shot at the beginning. Last few games he is playing at center and we can see an improvement in his game. After this season they will know his position and what players they will need to surround him.

I am not sure what people expected, the Spurs are obviously tanking and should be exatly doing what they are doing right now, winning the least amount of games possible. We should expect them to do this for at least 2 season, but it is more likely gonna be 3. This season is going great so far for the Spurs, they get to develop players while tanking.

They’re trying to completely rebuild around him, so we should be viewing this as virtually a new team with Wemby as their centerpiece. If they’re able to draft 1 or 2 solid franchise guys in the next 2-3 years along with adding experienced talent / veteran players via free agency or trades, they could easily be serious contenders around the time Wemby signs a new contract.

Yeah Chet has an argument as being their 2nd best player. Literally can borderline be an all star this year depending where they are at the all star break but I think Sengun will edge him out. The Spurs struggles IMO are just about everyone’s fault BUT Wemby from what I’ve seen, his teammates don’t share the ball, they constantly overlook him on fast breaks, don’t throw him lobs, they rotate AWAY from him when he gets positioned in the paint. There is something really weird going on with this team that we dont know about yet.

Spurs currently own a top 3 & 10 pick (TOR's), theyre in AMAZING position for next years draft. They can pick up either Sarr or Topic and then someone significantly better than Collins or Jones with the other pick. Everybody will be a year better, throw in a FA signing and SA can be a playoff team as early as next year.
