For me, Amon Amarth and Dark Tranquillity are the summum. I saw them in show third time for Amon Amarth and twice for DT and they play the same as their albums sounds. They are simply one of my favorites of all time! In Flames? They WERE good (my personnal opinion) and COB too. Insomnium and OG I don't know them so I'm going to listen to them soon!

It is remembered, but they were a pioneering Gothenburg metal band. I like the album with the weird cover the most, Terminal Spirit Disease. It was huge leap forward, with the title song sort of defining my taste in metal back in 1994. They have sort of regrouped, but no new album has come forth. I suppose they want to do it right, and following up 1995's classic Slaughter of the Soul in a meaningful way must be hard indeed.

In Flames would be 3rd cuz they do have alot of good and intresting songs, but they lack a ''certain something'' in most songs. then Dark Tranquillity, Amon Amarth and last CoB. because they suck live...
I'm not the biggest fan in all their new material, but there's plenty of new stuff that is actually good. Maybe not the taste of a metal elitist, but there are some good tracks here and there. I can't stand the pretentious theme that goes on in COB's music, and Amon Amarth is just way too nerdy for me. Sounds like generic Melodeath with some nerdy ass lyrics that I can't relate to in any way shape or form.
AA and COB is for nerds. I'd honestly rather listen to New In Flames than some nerds who think they're vikings, or some pretentious band with a power metal synth atmosphere, shit lyrics, and a frontman who looks like he came out of an emo band.
