I feel so inspired right now to start an all-girls tribute band to these wonderful souls. I'm 50 years old live in southern Saskatchewan , And I am blown away that this week was the first time I ever heard Fanny and I am so addicted now❤ You are the new role models that I never knew I needed until now.
WOW I JUST FOUND THIS AWESOME BAND I’D NEVER HEARD OF THEM AND IM 61 yrs OLD. THEIR AWSOME I USED TO PLAY GUITAR LEAD A LITTLE BIT,BUT LIFE TOOK THE PASSION AWAY. I LOVE TO WATCH THEM PUT THEIR HEART AND SOUL INTO THEIR INSTRUMENTS. 😮 JUST WOW
I'm such a 60s and 70s music junkie and I am sad that I had not heard of Fanny until this year. I am glad to see they are getting exposure now. I am quite happy that people can find their music/work now, even though it seems a great injustice that these wonderful talents were not given proper word of mouth back when it started. Even the Midnight Special footage is amazing.
I Loved this band and I cannot believe that they have not been inducted into the Hall Of Fame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just Criminal! but I know they will be I am sure!!!!!!!!!!! Loves
With the Go-Go's being voted into the rock n roll hall of fame, it's WAY past time to get a petition going for Fanny as AT MINIMUM an early influencer. Maybe they didn't have a number one hit or album, but they damn well influenced the Go-Gos (and the Bengals and any other all-female rock band). They were the ORIGINAL and there's not even a plaque or a note to commemorate them. That's got to change!!
You ladies are beautiful & so talented! Just finally picking up the bass at my tender age of 56! I never knew YOU gals were the 1st all ladies band. Knowing you all didn't buy into the evil music industry now we know why many of us are just finding you out 50 yrs later. Truly, Diamonds in the history of women rockers! And all this time I figured the Runaways were the first. See, we learn something new every day!!
Hey Jean. This Jeannie adores you. It’s so great to be 17 again. I’m thrilled to have found this interview and the upbeat tapes. Wow. Can’t wait to see the movie.
@@Kowasi Unfortunately no. According to Bowie, 'it was "a smorgasbord of imagined Americana", with a protagonist inspired by Iggy Pop, and the title being an allusion to author Jean Genet'.
so good to see Jean on here,, amazing talent,, Brie too,, all these ladies , If they dont get in the Rock and Roll hall of fame, it is a meaningless award!
Their was a Christian all girl rock band called RACHEL RACHEL they made 2 ALBUMS, They even did the song CARRY ON WAYWARD SON, their was THE RUNAWAYS also, an all girl rock band from the 1970s
What an icon! I've just discovered Fanny and I'm absolutely astounded that they are not heralded as the trailblazers they were. The Go Gos have lapped up that accolade and whilst I love early Go Gos they were 10 years too late and ALSO were nowhere near the level of musicians that Fanny were. They were a pop band, which is OK but being a ROCK band was way cooler!
in the 70s bands like a group of women like Fanny upstaging the boys in rock and roll would be looked down at, just simply for existing and making music better and equal or less Sexist
I am very happy to see Jean recovered.
Same here ,great to see.
bless Jean
Looking forward to it. Jean you’re an inspirational bassist, so musical and lovely.

Hmm… hey! Do you think Mr. Bowie might have had Ms. Millington in mind when he wrote 'Jean Genie'?

Hi Brie. This is Tina, I'm looking for Molly. If you could please get me in touch with her that would be fabulous. Thank you.
