I love the way this man knows his instrument. I wish I could sit with him for a couple of hours to learn my Casio boards just a little bit like he knows them.
I just purchased a MZX500 and will make a complete video series on this keyboard. I have been sound designing in subtractive and FM synthesis for 30 years and also know Casio very well and their operating systems by owning a XWP1 and a WK7600 for the last 6 years.
Wilderness Music Can you help me telling me how’s doing this keyboard? I’m trying to decide buying Casio and inward thinking in the ctx5000 because the good reviews of their sounds. I really love a quality sound but I’m a little tech lover too and I want to know if man can take the best of this workhorse with a good knowledge? Any advice? Best vibes
@@WildernessMusic_GentleSerene Hi there WM! Great, I'll certainly be watching that one, as very few actual in depth reviews of this special 'board - do you know when you'll finish that for uploading? Nice to hear you are a fellow sound designer of many years too!! Best 😎👍🎹🎶🍻
@@theaudioeng Yes, still have plans for a series of tutorials, purchased the MZ-x500 last December. But I ran into a major flaw in the manufactures design, and have not found a solution yet. Programming patterns and phrases is the main reason I purchased this keyboard, and while the pattern sequencer is great, the phrase sequencer(s) do not include a volume level control making them impossible to use. I am extremely disappointed at this time, haven't a work-a-round for this problem. With all the updates Casio has on this instrument, why haven't they included this...I don't know. This is my last Casio instrument...never again.
@@rodrigovilleda764 IF you like great sound from keyboard synths, do NOT buy a Casio. There are much better choices with Roland, Yamaha, Korg, and others. Casio strong in technical design, and weak in sound design.
Great demo Ralph!! Massive Casio fan with CZ-1, FZ-10M still in studio 😎 , also VZ-10M / XW-P1 (now both gone ... 😥) - have Casio dropped this model now a while ago?, as I can hardly find only U.S. so far a few and very $$$ .... keep up you fab demo's too right?, danke!! 🎹🎶👍🍻
Hey guys, is it beneficial to buy a keyboard (the model very presented) in 2023? I mean I have a deal I can buy this keyboard being only played by child for 20h, so in a very good condition, now the question is, is it worth to buy a keyboard produced so many years ago, knowing it is in a good condition, or do those keyboards have some longelivity deadline after some years? Iam really looking forward to buy it, thanks :P
I like the sound this far. Especially the synth side, but the more acoustic samples are not too shabby either. I'd like to hear more about these regular arranger sounds. But I am especially interested about the workflow when creating your own styles. Can you do it live, while keeping the already recorded stuff running and adding new tracks with a flick of your wrist while being able to transpose and all? What about the sampling? Can you make your own user tones from your own samples? Can you download new sounds with new sample data? What about the effects? How many can you use at the same time? Any chance of putting an effect for each part? Is there aftertouch in those sample pads?
Hi Ralph ... I have an MZX500 and can you tell me how you do to superimpose the four sounds of the Upper and Lower at the same time without having the split function? It works for you on the entire keyboard and I have not been able to achieve it. I am Alfonso from Colombia ... I would appreciate this information very much
Hallo Ralph ! Habe da mal eine Frage zum alten Casio xpw1 - gibt es dort auch die tollen alten Sounds von Vangelis ? Wo verstecken sich Diese ? Über eine Antwort würde ich mich sehr freuen !
Hi Ralph, i have a Casio XW-P1 and i'm thinking to change it for one of these. In your opinion, worth it? I know the MZ-X500 has better pcm sounds, but how are the solo synth, hex layer and drawbar organ sections compared with the XW-P1? Thanks
I have owned the XWp1 for 6 years, I am ADDING this MZx500 and going to use the two together in all their individual strengths. Hate the sounds of the XWP1 PCM's but like the drums and sequencer, and the custom programming for the arps and phrase sequencer. The MZx500 will give me the opportunity to custom design rhythms up to 16 measures long and add 16 phrases also. I don't like the limitation of a single measure sequencer on the XWP1 but will use this sequencer as a slave clocked to the MZx500 to add extra beats.

I miss my little Casio SK sampler.
yes i can understand that
Um teclado dinâmico com excelentes timbres ok!
What number is the sample "nice string" and "add string hi" are samples from outside, I add them because I can't find them on the keyboard

Yes you can do all, go to casio music on youtube there are all my user videos.

They are completely different instruments. I love the P1.
I understand that the MZ- 500 is an arranger, and pointing to a different buyer, but I would like to know how they compare in shared features.

Gut gemaht.
