  • PRATAH SAMAYA
A pada by the medieval poet Padmakar is set against the vibrant and colorful Holi being played at Gokul by gopas and gopis with Lord Krishna throughout the night. The pada vividly describes the next morning in Gokul … Languorous gait, body smeared with colors, drowsy eyes …. There is an element of lethargy and bliss in the air … Padmakar narrates that amidst all this dreamy slowness, what makes this Holi unique and special as compared to any other in the universe is that every Gokul-vaasi seems to have a radiant aura of divine bliss having played Holi with Lord Krishna … with their forms emanating ‘sauhaag’ (saubhaagya- great fortune) and the foreheads shining with ‘bhagya’. The music is composed in Dhrupad style with a blend of Kathavachan (story telling).
