While I agree with this gentleman, he is mistaken on one account. The APA recognizes 4 varieties including Black, Blue, White, and Buff. Buff was recognized as far back as 1902.

Beautiful bird, very well behaved! I myself prefer English orpingtons to American , they are typically shorter legged, and have more full feathering.

i have two black orpington hens and one of them is the loudest and meanest of my flock. mine also lay very small eggs even though theyre my largest birds.

I’d love to get some feedback on my blue Orpington. Thought it was a female but maybe it’s male? Trying to go by feathers as you suggested but they are only almost 3 months old. She cocka doodled this morning! Only 2 of my black ones have done that so far but they are noticeably different. How may I contact you to potentially discuss this further?
