“Attacks wins games, Defences win championships”. Cindy you gotta react to Paolo Maldini, the greatest defender of all time, it's so mesmerising to see.

@@feliperaicherthleite8633im sorry but that’s completely wrong. Der Kaiser was and will always be know for being great with the ball, not because he was good at defending.

@@feliperaicherthleite8633 Beckenbauer played at a much too early of a time to be considered the greatest. It's just impossible to compare. Being innovative at that time was easier than it is now or 30 years ago.
9:25 Roberto Carlos was a left back, which is a defensive position, but unlike fullbacks they tend to move forward in some strategies, typically to cross or score long goals. Roberto Carlos was very good at this, particularly the long goals. To the point where, when I was a kid he was actually the official long distance free quicks guy of the Brazilian team BEFORE the actual strikers (and the strikers were guys like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Adriano and Kaká, even them would only do short distance because Roberto Carlos was on the team).
Nice to see Cindy finally getting into some defence now! And yes Roberto Carlos was mainly a defender playing at the left, but he had the gift of insane power shots, pace and passes so he would go forward with the attackers helping the team to score. Not all defenders are capable of doing that so he's indeed an icon!
There's a quote says "attak wins matches, and a good defence wins trophies" There are alot of great defenders and the good ones from italy like Maldini, Nesta, cannavaro ...
While Maldini really is the best, the names that comes to my mind personally are two guys. Carles Puyol and John Terry. Those two are also up there, despite Terry not winning internationally.
In the US it is firmly believed that high scoring matches are entertaining, because allegedly scoring is the goal. But that is only partially true. The aim is to score one more than your opponent. But this also works if you have one less against than your opponent. High scores usually mean that the defence didn’t do a great job. There is no satisfaction in watching goals that are scored easily. There needs to be a contest. The best matches are the most intense ones, and the low scoring ones are often very intense.
Italian defenders in the 80s and 90s were the best. Since early 2000s, every country has implemented a much more streamlined way of training players, identifying strengths and defending has dramatically across the footballing world. Look for Sami Hyypia
02:40. Just for context, this game was Brazil x Spain in the confederations cup FINAL, in 2013 (before the wc in Brazil). Spain was undefeated for so manny years, since they won the last WC in 2010. They had an extraordinary team and they were beating all the big nations in Europe. Brazil was considering favorites in this game by their history and for playing at home. If im not mistaken, that moment was 1x0, David Luiz saved that 100% goal and equalizer, and it may not seem like much, but doing what he did is practically impossible, by the rotation of the ball. After that, Brazil beat them 3-0 and as a Brazilian, it was the best game I saw from my team. By a large margin. Invincible Spain, were like children playing against us. Theres ofc the highlights of that final, u can check out if u want. 😆 Loved the reaction as always, and your "quest" in football.
this is probably the hardest futbol vid ive seen so far, almost like the hardest hits in nfl football vids with ray lewis, but thats the American in me lmfaoo nothing beats physical aggressively hard contact in sports like American football before all the strict regulations and this is just that but in futbol, im actually impressed
Talking about the defense, Barcelona has some of the best young talented defenders…like Pau Cubarsi 17 years old kid who recently turned 18 today..❤😮 he is absolutely brilliant world class defender, another one is Ronald Araujo a Barcelona academy la masia player tall, strong 💪🏻 defender who has a pace, very good defensively. React on those boys too 😊
A lot of the best defenders ever are Italian, Paulo Maldini (imo the best defender ever) Franco Baresi, Fabio Cannavaro, Alessandro Nesta, in the recent generation Giorgio Chielloni and Leonardo Bonucci, older Italian guys would say Gaetano Scirea or Giacinto Facchetti (both before my time), Italy has produced some incredible players, especially defenders

What about Baresi? Maldini's idol
Not only goals you can celebrate but also a defense
Defenders don't usually get that much respect unless they do some crazy saves
sad to hear that, it's common in a lot of sports

While Maldini really is the best, the names that comes to my mind personally are two guys. Carles Puyol and John Terry. Those two are also up there, despite Terry not winning internationally.
THIS WEEK
When a defender gets it off the line I often just call it a last ditch clearance or just clearance
This is all tackles and incredible saves, but good defense is also about positioning and making the enemy team not even able to attack
Paolo Maldini watch any video of him and you will understand the art of defence.
Notable other mentions, Franco Baresi, Fabio Cannavaro, Sergio Ramos
Most of these defensive actions are called clearances. When it's just about to go in and gets cleared, it's a goal line clearance to be exact
oh bettt thank you!
Paolo Maldini is arguably the best defender to have played the beautiful game. You should really check him out.
Maldini and Nesta was the best defence of all time for AC Milan
