@@itsbluereacts Football USED TO BE the most beautiful sport in the world... nowadays it's just a massive money laundering scam with the transfers of 100+ million and everything being about marketing and hype instead of actual good games... refereeing is at an all time low and UEFA and FIFA literally push certain teams every single year and have their "favorites" for which even when refs go to the replay for judgement they judge differently depending on which team is to benefit from the call and which team is the one he's been told "we need them to win"... every kid that is half decent is being sold for 50-60-70 million and that makes most new stars absolute brats since they have no sense of accomplishment and they're given everything without ever being asked for nothing... Mbappe is the perfect example of a modern player... he's good but not nearly as good as he thinks he is, he thinks he's an All Time Great but he's achieved almost nothing other than winning a World Cup while playing on BY FAR the favorite team to win the tournament even if he wasn't playing and yet the hype is annoying and stupid around him... the man misses more chances for goals than he makes for god's sake...
Anyway, I used to watch football games back to back every weekend... now I barely watch any cause football is all about politics, big money, billionaires and the fans are just victims who still cling onto that notion of "passion for the game" while 90% of football is fixed games cause it's all about money laundering and gambling on games...
Finally the modern game has become all about the coaches and that leaves players zero room for creativity which makes the games predictable as hell if you're an actual football fan and you know the game well
The only team I can watch right now is Barcelona cause these new kids of theirs play very free and it's actually extremely fun to watch them... but other than that almost all other big teams right now are unbearably boring with coaches being so focused on "avoiding mistakes" that they forget to play actual goddamn football...

@@sportschool3537 Yes, much of that is true but I am, thoroughly enjoying my football and I am in my 8th decade in London. I have been to 1,779 matches and though a season ticket holder elsewhere, for the first time in 30 years, I have been to see my nearest team: Charlton play Birmingham and Wrexham and it's been great fun. My Millwall season ticket, with age concession, works out at £11 per game which is less than to see my local National League South team.
The Highlights packages on Match Of The Day are excellent and my first hame attended was in 1962:)

In basketball, baseball and NFL football, scoring is constant... and so the elation is split evenly in the game.
In football ⚽the goals take time and everyone is on the edge... and when the moment comes and a goal is scored, the elation is a bigger release and the win is much more emotional.

It's even much more than that. Football shapes the lives of so many people. Fan groups and amateur clubs serve as social hubs, often like families. Millions of children are enrolled in football clubs, many of whom grow up with a specific team in their hearts. Many of the moments shown were likely experiences for each individual or even had political consequences. In positive (e.g. Germany 54) and negative (Qatar 22 or Russia 18)

So much to say about the fan reactions. First, the sport itself. I'm an older American who has loved this game since the 1970s. I claim that once someone here is familiar with the rules, they'll see it - even though it's considered a "low scoring game", in a good one..about 60-70% of it is spent with someone "damn near about to". Edge of your chair (if you decide to sit instead of stand 😄) the whole time. You're either stoked that your side is attacking, or afraid of the opponent coming at you. There's an incredible release of emotion when the ball finally ends up in the net.
Second, what folks from other countries said about the sense of community in your comment thread is * very * real. In much of the world, if you ask a local to show you around town, they'll point and say something like, 'This is our fire department, this is our school, and this is our football club!'
Third, the game's so popular around the world that you don't even have to speak the same language just to play a 'pick-up' game in the park. When Matthew McConaughey (he's married to a Brazilian girl) was hyping the new MLS franchise in Austin TX, he said, "The soccer ball is the greatest invitation in the world." And he's right. Doesn't matter what language, skin color, or gender they are..bring out a ball, and people smile and start gathering.
Sorry about the novel I just wrote on your vid comment page - I just really love this game, and am so excited that it seems to be finally getting more popular in the US. Greetings from Atlanta, GA! (Atlanta Chiefs, 1968 NASL Champs - Atlanta United, 2018 MLS Champs)

Hi Cindy! As an old footballer from Europe I can tell you why there is a differens between the U.S and Europe regarding the fans reaction. In Europe we are connected to the clubs, often in a daily basis, so they are kind of part of our identity and soul. In the U.S it's regarded as a franchise with only one team. In Europe our kids starts in the clubs when they are 5 or 6 years old, and often stay there playing till they get VERY old, sometimes in their 70'ties. So the passion is real, not just on sundays when the 1. team are playing. If it makes sence to you. And thanks for the vidoe. Regards from Denmark. P.s My Club, BK. FREM was founded in 1886.🤨🤔😂

I'm thinking Jurgen Klinsmann, Pavel Nedved, Michael Laudrup, Peter Schmeichel, Michel Platini just to name a few. These are guys many former players have literally included in their greatest XI of all time. For me the greatest football movie/compilation of all time is "Hero - the story of the Mexico '86 World Cup" that partially concentrates on the big players who spearheaded their nations at a very special tournament. I belive it is still available in full on UA-cam since FIFA did the decent thing by releasing it for free after the passing of Diego Maradona. The actor Michael Caine also narrates it and its got a classic 80's vibe.

The variance in quality of matches is much higher in football than in most other sports.
You can even have extremely dull 0-0 matches that are nothing but a complete waste of time. Something that doesn't exist in other sports.
(Though even 0-0 matches in football can still be great.)
But precisely because of that, when you do get great matches they can become absolutely exhilarating and unforgettable. Which is also far more rare in other sports.

I think the biggest problem in american football and american sports in general when it comes to the fans passion is the franchising system. When your team plays an awful season and ends last you just move on to the next season and are even rewarded with better draft picks, while ending last in a european football league results in a relegation/dropping to a lower league. Having consequences of your teams performance just naturally has you as a fan more emotionally invested into your team and sport.

Cindy now you need to react to best deffences/goalkeepers of all time, that'd be fun too. Buffon, Casillas, Navas, Cech, Van Der Sär, Oliver Khan, Higuita, Goycochea, Taffarel, Dida, Alisson... Those are all GOATs as well.

When we won Euro 2004 it wasn't just the fact that we were outsiders but we played against great teams and bested them and we played twice with Portugal and a baby Ronaldo and we won both times and they were the hosts too. Opening game and the final. We were hated back then because the team played old school game style and especially the Brits were salty. Too bad we humbled them this year in similar style and in their own country.

Club football is a lifestyle. National football teams are sometimes the country ( latter at least in netherlands, germany, uk, scotland, brazil, portugal, italy, south Korea, Nigeria, cameroon, argentinia, belgium, marocco) and growing in coutries like poland, tscheccia, croatia many asian countries. Oh i forgot turkiye.. both clubs are fanatic (not always that nice) and national team: really fantastically passionate

I would say it's because of the pacing. Other sports have constant scoring, and there's not that much sports that can end in zero score for both. So this creates the sort of tension for who would break into the score first, and both are trying to score and stop the other. While in other sports, everyone has their chance to build up the score, it's expected to have some points.

This video is a great over view! If you enjoyed it I recommend you look into some of these events in more detail. With more context you will appreciate how incredible the moments are. Just a few that I recommend are:
    Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona (4-3 aggregate)
Ajax 2-3 Tottenham (3-3 aggregate, Tottenham win on away goal rule)
    Barcelona 6-1 PSG (6-5 aggregate)
    Barcelona 2-2 Chelsea (2-3 aggregate)
Real Madrid 3-1 Man City (6-5 aggregate)
Champions league final 2005 AC Milan vs Liverpool
Champions league final 1999 Manchester United vs Bayern Munich
Leicester City winning the Premier League in 2016 (5000/1)
Manchester City 3-2 QPR (Man city winning the Premier League thanks to two goals in 90+ minutes)

You should react to football movies like "Goal! The Dream Begins" which was considered by SPORTBible as the "greatest football film of all time"." "Goal II: Living the Dream" is also a good one but stay away from the third movie.
"Escape to Victory" (sometimes with the title "Victory" or "V for Victory") is in my opinion the greatest football film ever. It stars Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine, and some of the world's best footballers like Pele, Bobby Moore, and Mike Sommerbee. This is a "must-watch" for any football lover.
