I have travelled in meter gauge when I was nine ...in Utar pradest Bareilly and Agra route of meter gauge....now the route is changed with the latest rail tracks ....but I loved that slow speed ....it was really a good experience at that age...

Narrow guage and metre guage is now history in many places in West Bengal I used to visit from Burdwan to Bologna a small village with a amazing narrow guage train but sad fully it was replaced by broad guage...by watching your video it full fill my childhood memories metre guage and narrowguage was a kind of excitment
This route used to go up till jodhpur and we used to travel to jodhpur using this route where trains used to take long halts at marwar junction before proceeding to Jodhpur. That must be around 25 years back

Trains were wooden benches no ac, no mobile yes there was a fight with brother and sis for windows, but No covid, never got sick.
Accident relief van is a heart of track. It consist of small gears to meet any derailment. Even medical aid at incidents can be renderd. If route is long staff lodging and engaged to relief van is provided food facilities and rest. Planning roo, retiring compartment are provide d. Train also provides different cranes, jacks of different type. Even early das water and fire pumps on diesel /petrol were accompanied to extinguish fire. Overhead equipment van also accompanied with push pull engine both the ends. Stretchers, trained doctors with staff are also with ARCar.

Seems like a simple solution is to make it a heritage railway and run steam locos on it. Will do good for tourism, seeing Steam Engine in Ghats + Direct Rail connect could make it a fun excursion. IR should have considered this.
