What's cool about the Gallifreyan symbols is that they're actually a Rwandan proverb - "the sharpness of the tongue defeats the sharpness of the warrior". Absolutely love that they managed to find the perfect link between Ncuti Gatwa and the Doctor. That Rwandan proverb is so well-suited to the character.
Auntie Vera, you've got to come back & press the button 15 times so we can hear the Master's laser sounds while it lights up red & the crystal pulses green.😊
I'm not a toy-collecting type of fan, but I do appreciate how much it helps when you can clearly see how each detail makes narrative sense for the stories it represents.
More like a sonic multi-tool, honestly. There's a screwdriver in there but there's so much more. That there isn't a button to play 'Can't Get You Outta My Head' is a missed opportunity, though.
I think someone (maybe a couple characters) referred to it a Swiss Army Sonic, the name fits well. Initially it looks like a sonic computer mouse, but any version of sonic multi-tool is great.
15's sonic screwdriver is decent as a sonic screwdriver design, but is absolutely fantastic as a sci-fi multi-tool thingie. It's gorgeous. I've just ordered the new pink one because damn it's amazing looking. I've got this deluxe version of the blue one and I couldn't resist when the pink one was released the other day. And about the sounds. The standard sound is a much better version of the typical sonic sound, with some added whooshing alien like sounds layered in. The second sound was a secret sound on 11's sonic screwdriver and I believe was on 13's but I could be wrong, again with extra details layered in. And the third sound is 13's scanning sound, however after 2 or so loops it plays the second sound over the top, then goes back to the third, almost like the scanner is straining over the input and buffering in a way. It's great, and the activation/deactivation sounds are a brilliant addition that works really well with the other sounds
@@MarionBagginshonestly that be a great idea but I would imagine the pure evil backlash from horrible WhoTubers would say really negative stuff about Neurodiversity
My thoughts re: the screwdriver redesign are that they've just switched from the phallic sex-toy shape to something a little more curve-friendly, like a LELO design, and that's perfectly valid. ETA: I should add that this opinion was severely influenced by browsing sex toy/review websites as a hobby at one point. The first time I saw that thing I really did go, "I swear that was actually a design like fifteen years ago."
Watch The Church on Ruby Road and the scene of him using it for the first time. He's talking to an officer and calls it a sonic screwdriver. The officer replies back with a confused "screwdriver?". The Doctor rolls his eyes and says " Sonic" in a way that shows his annoyance that the officer was right. Before it even aired RTD pointed it out and knew it would annoy people lol.
I like all the detail that went into this. I do think I prefer a sonic screwdriver to be screwdriver shaped; but the new one is growing on me. It actually reminds me of actual scientific equipment, like a multimeter or geigercounter, which seems fitting.
I have a little collection of Sonics that I put in my videos and have been waiting for 14 and 15's. Then I saw them on Amazon for like $50 a pop. Might not be getting these actually... But still cool.
Have you ever designed your own Sonic Screwdriver? If you have can you give us details, what would you choose as the colour for the light bulb? I’ve always been a fan of the Mace Windu purple lightsaber so I’d probably go with a Purple light bulb as it’s something different from what’s been done before.
U forgot the the red setting when u pressed 14-20 times on the deluxe edition and to me the deluxe edition is worth the little extra money cause the standard has so much removed unlike the anniversary sonic that had just the hidden button removed this one the the sound for the emitter is gone and the sounds for the scanner are gone and the red setting is gone making the deluxe edition a better buy if u want those things
as a whovian of 45 years, i will say at least it is NOT the sunglasses....ick....but if RTD has 15 open it and inside is a mirror and blush powder i will stop watch Doctor Who even though it is my favorite show
ive not been able to see any of 15's run so this is the very first time im seeing this and wow that is something indeed lol. not terrible though and I thought I wanna see how it looks when used more but I do respect what its trying. one thing that is inescable in what I see is that it absolutely has a style akin to a Y2K electronic. like does it come with cartridges where you can insert and listen to a single horrendously compressed song?
I’m in two minds. On one hand, I still hate the design. Is there a valid reason for it to not be a wand or stick shape? and on the other, I need to get it because my collection of Sonics would feel empty without it.

The best part of 12 is that the toy is literally what he used on set

Kinda seems like a sonic swiss army knife! Very cool. That second sound was from the element doctor's sonic.

1:35 I’m going to need someone to make the does nothing rant into a sound! 😂
Sonic Stimdriver. It’s like they think doctor who fans are more likely to be neurodivergent than the general population or something…
@@DiM2404 that isn't necessarily a bad thing tho is it? I think its awesome to include Neurodiveristy in dr.who

I like the wands, they're iconic. But this one is fun too.
5:23 that struggle sound effect is actually on the 11th doctors sonic if you press it 4 times

I’m excited I bought one yesterday it should arrive by Friday I’m super excited
It's mostly just the fact that he still calls it a screwdriver that gets me
If anything at looks more like a Tamagotchi
It's a sonic probe
Tbf it’s not like the others look anything like a screwdriver either
@@toyguy119 The others are at the very least pole-shaped? This doesn't even look themed like a mechanical instrument

Looks like a morpher from Power Rangers
Triceratops!
I really hope they will make a deluxe one where every button does something
Still holding out for the green variant

Hey Council of Geeks are you planning of doing a ranking of all the sonic screwdrivers?
Eventually.
@BreakRoomofGeeks awesome to hear
I guess the big question will be: do 12's sonic sunglasses and Amy's "sonic probe" from The Girl Who Waited count???
I'm not a Dr. Who fan, but those sound effects are so good. I kinda want one.
Engagement for the engagement god!
Kinda cool. Might pick it up if nothing else catches my eye on my next trip to Cardiff.
Who’s gonna break it to them that there’s a red setting
Like 5 people, check the comments.
Some of those other "buttons" are hiding screws
Folded up it reminds me of a computer mouse. But it looks like so much fun to play with. 😅
now I want one for Christmas!
i hope you have fun with it
There is also a secret mode on this one like fourteens. I don't own it, and forgot what you need to hold to enable it.
I don't mind it. I'm open to new and different when it comes to the design. I did like the sounds nice 👍. I still love 12's one, but it's cool

As a prop in the show I’m still not keen. As a TOY it looks like a lot of fun.
