Wow its been 42 since this man stunned, wowed, whoaed, shocked, and won over millions with his amazing pitching abilities. Thank you Fernando for the memories and winning attitude. May you be blessed with many more years filled with the joy that you brought to so many..
FERNANDO EL GRANDE thanks for your great baseball spirt and memories , they were no adversities for you ,a great example for the community, long live FERNANDO VALENZUELA OLE, VIVA MEXICO
I was at opening day 1981 when Fernando shut out the Astros. As an 8th grader missing school for a dodger opener and seeing a kid pitch that went on to create Fernando mania is a moment I'll never forget. Congrats, #34, it was long overdue.
My Dad and I were in attendance for this game along with the pregame ceremony. Not gonna lie when they unveiled #34 in the Ring of Honor I actually did shed a tear
They Should of Had the whole dodger team out there out of Respect!.. Not Just crawling around on the ground as Fernando and his Family passed by!.. 🤷♂️
Fernando Valenzuela is The best thing that has ever happen to the Dodgers since moving to Los Angeles. Fernando help mended the wounds between the Dodgers organization and the Mexican American Community. When Walter O Malley bought the land that force Mexican Americans out of their homes though Eminent domain , the Mexican American community had hatred towards the Dodgers. Many Mexican Americans boycotted Dodgers games . But that all changed when Fernando came to the Dodgers. The Mexican American community in Los Angeles found a hero that represented them. The Mexican American fan base has grown every since Fernando step on the mound on opening day in 1981. He is the hero the Mexican American Community was looking for.
When a team doesn't allow your jersey number to be used after your long gone... that tells you it's a big big deal... mitch Poole thank you for keeping the integrity of what that number means
How sad to see that to some of the current Dodger players this ceremony had no meaning, one was crawling on the grass, another kept stretching with the back to the honoree, and another on running across the field. Seriously? I can assure you that the jersey number of any of those players will NEVER be retired and in a few years they’ll be completely forgotten.
Thank God he's gone the Dodgers couldn't win with him at the helm he doesn't know fundamental baseball he wants all his players to hit out of the park he doesn't know how to manufacture runs anywhere he's gone he hasn't won I figure he's gone the quicker we'll get to winning baseball
Fernando (and Vinnie) got a geeky gawky pudgy 10-year-old Asian girl into baseball...it taught me that great athletes don't have to be rugged, standardly handsome, ripped dudes. Although damn, he certainly has aged well.

You are Right and Wrong at the same time

wish i had gone ..
I became a true Dodger fan in 1982 when I met Fernando and the rest of the team in person at Saybrook Park when I played baseball little league
How sad to see that to some of the current Dodger players this ceremony had no meaning, one was crawling on the grass, another kept stretching with the back to the honoree, and another on running across the field. Viva El Toro!! GO DODGERS!!
Long Over due but glad it gone done

P.s. I miss Don Mattingly. I wish he was still around in the Dodgers franchise.

Speak English for all of us to celebrate Fernando.
How was his jersey not retired already
The next number the Dodgers should retire is Number 6 for Steve Garvey.
Padilla should never have spoken. He is a crook and is a puppet. VIVA TORO!
Definetely brown pride dudes !!!!

They're missing Joe Kelly!
Fernando Valenzuela, el toro es inmortal.
They should of retired his number the day he quit playing baseball
Dodgers buying back fans after their fuckup with the transgender nun night...
Falta de respeto de jugador tirado en el cesped,y El grupo caminando por alla
Kike Hernandez
Thought that was big pun in the back
