Correction 100 Things You Didn't Know Were Invented by African american BROWN PEOPLE. This term black people came from racist gringos who brought brown skinned africans from africa on slaveboats, these same gringos called my people indians when we are NOT indians at all, But indigenous native americans with brown to light skin complexions. I hate when african americans call themselves what the gringos labelled them, It remains me of slave mentality. The colour black is NOT an ethnicity at all. Ya'll brown like chocolate stop calling yourselves black. I love african americans they need to break this rubbish about being black, The only thing I see black on africanos is the hair on their beautiful varied brown chocolate skin. Peace to all ya'll.

I think the black culture should do movies and documentaries about these amazing inventors. These people are a part of black history and no one is talking about it. We need to know more about this just as much as slavery and racism. We have done so much good in this world and no one is talking about it. I hope that change in the near future because we need this

    • @HannahYaawusuahAdjepongL-AS
      @HannahYaawusuahAdjepongL-AS Рік тому

That change is NOW! And not in the future.
We have been told many lies, and NOW is the time to let the truth shine through.
When I do presentations in schools about the natural resources in Africa, students ask why Africans are poor.
      They are poor because :
They do not own their resources.
Those in leadership who should fight for the ownership of their resources are not willing to fight.
The Wrstetn countries who enslaved our ancestors and looted the continent of gold, diamonds, timber, bauxite, and now lithium continue to do so.
And they pretend to give us handouts called aid while their wealth come from Africa.
Is it surprising that mainstream history books do not contain anything about the slave trade and how Africa and people of African heritage continue to invent things for the use of the whole world?
The film Hidden Figures is one example of how black people’s achievements remain hidden.
Yet, we continue to do our best. And yes. I agree with the comments that we should teach this to our children.

Garret Morgan received a patent for a NON-electric, HAND-crancked semaphore cross "traffic signal" that did not even have any lights!
It was operated by HAND and it required a buzzer!
Morgan's idea was that a "traffic director" would be needed to stand on a ladder on every intersection in America to operate it BY HAND.
All of this was in 1923.
THREE YEARS EARLIER (1920), a white man named William Potts invented the 4-way, 3-color traffic light that you see EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE.

The purpose of a library and the internet is not the access to information but the preservation of it. There are always collections in libraries and on the internet that are not readily accessible, limited or locked away all together.
There is also the issue of revisionist history. So individuals that do not know any better, have a hard time locating factual information or just don’t know what they are looking for until they know what they do not know.
But that’s why we have historians, libraries, and the internet as tools to help preserve information. But yes, there are and have been parts of American and global history that has been hidden away, distorted, or just forgotten. But good luck on your journey of factual discovery! Maybe even visit your local library research library or museum and see what collections they have a limited, behind a paywall, or not for general viewing. 😊

In order for there to be ACCESS to info, the info must be PRESERVED. You're making a useless chicken or the egg argument. Tons of black history are readily available if people take the initiative to seek it instead of waiting for someone to drop it in their lap.
As for those concerned with revisionism, the answer is really very simple. Stick to black historians and authors.... Problem solved. But then again, there have been black historians and authors have been guilty of the same thing. 🤷🏾‍♂️

In the educational system and media entertainment system, black people are mostly portrayed as slaves, rappers, basketball players, gangsters, thugs, and criminals. Every February, we get a smidgen of "black history." I am beginning to think that Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. were the only two black activists who ever existed. Forget about Frederick Douglass, W.E.B. Du Bois, Booker T. Washington, Ida B. Wells, Benjamin Banneker, Thurgood Marshall, Shirley Chisholm, Ralph Ellison, Langston Hughes, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Ellen Garrison Clark, Harriet Tubman, George Carruthers, Barbara Jordan, Sojourner Truth, Daisy Bates, Lewis Lattimer, and numerous other black activists, inventors, teachers, poets, writers, astronomers, astronauts, computer experts, physicists, scientists, congressmen, Air Force pilots, buffalo soldiers, congresswomen, chemists, and numerous other fields of endeavors. I apologize for not stating the other 4, 423, 765 others beginning 5,000 years ago with ancient Nubia, Greece, Rome, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Cush, England, and a few other places.

Yes, it is history that has been taken out from mainstream history books.
The reason we call it black history is because it has been left for us to own and teach not only our children. But the world.

It is about time the black community has revealed real heros from the past. George Washington Carver was my hero when, in my 3rd grade, I read his story about the peanut and so many accomplishments. He still is my hero, I am 81 years old and a white Christian. Could never understand why the black community didn't bring up these real heros and instead used black men and women who only brought devastating divisions as heros. Every child should have to read stories about black heros like George Washington Carver.

Carver also invented the vinyl used on car dashes. Henry Ford picked his brain so much that he called the assembly line factory "The Plant" in honor of how Carver would equate plant assembly to how cars can be built.

Factually and chronologically, the traffic signal was already in use in Britain by 1868.
In 1910,Earnest Sirrine(Chicago)patented the first " stop/ proceed" signal. In 1920,William Potts( Detoit) is credited with an installation at Woodward/ Michigan Aves. intersection.
The worlds first electric traffic light installed in Cleveland,Oh.,on Aug 5,1914.
Much later,in 1923,Garrett Morgan was awarded a patent for His 1922 tweaking of the traffic signal.
When the facts are laid bare,it trumps color.
The facts concerning the light bulb are similar to these.
This is what should be taught in schools, not emotional untruths.
