    Kerry-Lou, you have looked incredible in many hair styles but this style is the crowning glory! The lighter grey framing your face just makes you glow and the longer length gives you a youthful look. Absolutely beautiful! I’m going through cancer treatments again and have lost the grey hair that had been growing back. Cancer and treatments change skin colouring as well. With having to wear a mask I’ve been trying to wear colours that accentuate my eye colour and the other day my nurse noticed my khaki green eyes which made me so happy. What you and Ginger had to say about scarves has given me much to incorporate them better in my situation. Thank you so much for helping me accept my silver. I can’t wait to have it back! 👩🏻‍🦲

      Linda, I absolutely agree with you about Kerry-Lou's hair. Magnificent in the way it frames her face and the color is beautiful. I'm sorry you are dealing with cancer treatments and happy to hear that you are exploring how colors can make you feel more sparkling. Perfect that you are finding colors that bring out your eyes. Take good care and thank you so much for sharing.

    Thank you Kerry-Lou! This was so helpful, I'm in month 10 of growing out my grey. I put on a different color lipstick last week and couldn't believe the difference it made in look! I usually go for warm and nude tones, but this definitely is not the best for me now! Loved this video so much!!!!

      Carol, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Isn't it amazing what a little lipstick (in a flattering color) can do! I remember even when I was 30 years old friends telling me that I looked tired. Ugh! It was only because my lipstick had worn off and I do not have a lot of natural color in my lips. Thank goodness for lipstick!

    Thank you for sharing this video! It is so informative! I read and still have the book, "Color Me Beautiful". I also had a consultation with my stylist way back when, had my colors "read", and found that I was a "Winter" with cool skin coloring, brunette hair, and greenish-brown eyes. Now that I've "matured", my skin coloring is still cool, but has changed, and my hair has turned a beautiful, silvery gray (white?) much like Kerry-Lou's. So it's refreshing to hear Kerry-Lou and Ginger discuss how colors of clothing, glasses, scarves, make-up, etc., can change as we age and/or can be ramped up or dialed back, even as our personalities or emotions may affect the way we feel on a particular day. Enlightening and useful information to have and consider! Thanks, again, for sharing!

    So glad to have found you both! As a teen, I had my colors done with my mother at a 'color mr beautiful' counter in a department store. I still have the little color swatch book! I was a winter & since my hair has gone grey I am now rethinking the bolder jewel tones because of this video! I have toned it down a bit but now understand the why😀 Thank you both!

      I had my colors done at a Color Me Beautiful years ago. I am a Spring and grey hair did not change my skin tone so I still wear Spring colors but some look terrible on me. Colors like camel used to make me sing but are horrible now. So I've had to adjust but Once a Spring, always a Spring.

    Hi Kerry-Lou!! Love this video so much.... as Ginger mentioned I was one of those women who had their ‘colours’ done in the 80’s and as I aged my colours changed. Last year I had them redone and many of the colours in your swatches are like mine even though my hair is very much salt and pepper not the beautiful colours you have! However I think it had really helped me find myself in my older years and I have a great capsule wardrobe now of some key colours that go with my more neutral basics. Plus combined with your style and make up tips ... I am living my most confident life right now 💕💕💕

  • @sandramuir5964
    @sandramuir5964 3 роки тому +4

    I was a brunette naturally and had my colors done back in the 80,s..I was considered a winter with animated undertones. I’ve always looked younger for my age, and the palette seemed to work well. But I leaning against the animated tones with colored hair and sticking with winter tones. Prior to the pandemic I had micro blading done to my eyebrows because I was loosing my tails. She said there was only one color to do them in because I hadn’t lost all of my brows and it was best to match them. Then during the pandemic I decided to become authentic and let my hair grow out naturally. Whites were sprouting around my face like yours and salt and pepper in the back. The pepper part matches my eyebrows. So voila that was good and looks good with my tones. Friends and family say people pay hairstylists to come up with what happened naturally in my case...and no I don’t look older but more soft. I find myself automatically lightening my foundation and lipsticks And, I am wearing lots more color and prints.
    So my question to your friend is how does the color palette change, do the same colors simply get lighter,.... crazy but back in the day I started dying my hair to look young. But as it turns out I still look young with the whites and greys. ????? What do you think is happening.?

      Thanks Sandra, it’s very interesting to read about everybody’s color stories here, let’s see if Ginger can answer this for you 😉 @gingerburr

    • @GingerBurrTIC
      @GingerBurrTIC 3 роки тому +1

      Sandra, this is a wonderful question. How your color palette changes depends on what your original natural hair color was and what it changes to when you go gray. If you had very warm toned hair -- chestnut, red highlights, red, etc. when you go gray or white your colors will not only get lighter or softer but they will also get cooler. And it will depend on whether you go salt and pepper or have brown tones mixed in with the gray/white hairs...that will determine how cool or how light or bright you can go. The color of your brows will also make a difference. Someone with light gray hair but who still has darker brows will have more deep tones in her palette than someone who has light gray hair but very pale brows. There really isn't just one size fits all, but once you find the colors that make you sparkle that's all you need to know :-)

    Fascinating! I am a former hairdresser and makeup artist, and was a redhead (enhanced!!) for most of my life. As I got older, I lightened it to a strawberry, then to a warm golden blonde. During lockdown I stopped coloring, and just as Ginger said, my hair was now white! Unfortunately, the contrast with my pale, but warm toned skin, has made me look jaundiced. My skin appears so yellow! I have been struggling with finding the right colors for me - and think that Ginger may be able to help with this. I had never had this problem before - new exactly what did and didn't look good, but this is new, uncharted territory. The only thing I am positive about is that some of the colors I have been advised to wear completely wash me out and definitely make me look older - I'm thinking specifically of pale pink, navy and lavender! This was so timely, and I must see if she can help! Thanks!

    • @GingerBurrTIC
      @GingerBurrTIC 3 роки тому +2

      Fiona, it's always lovely to meet a fellow redhead! And, yes, we go white rather than gray and it can make us feel very washed out especially if you also have pale colored eyebrows and eyelashes. I'd have to see you to know for sure, but I always find doing someone's colors to be a very fun puzzle...finding the colors that don't overwhelm you or make you fade away (or appear jaundiced) but that make you sparkle. It would be a pleasure to help you!

    Many, many years ago, I had my colors done with Color Me Beautiful. I was shocked when she told me I was a Winter. I always wore Spring colors. However, when I started buying clothes in my colors, I got lots of compliments. I have even bought some clothes for the color even if I didn't particularly like the style and gotten compliments. I never thought about my hair changing as I aged perhaps changing my "colors". I've had gray since high school and now there's more gray mixed with the brown.

    I have a love-hate relationship with personal colours. I'm a blue-eyed heavily freckled redhead who wears very little make up and I'm now over 50% white (in blocks, the red parts are still bright red!). I've seen the impact the right colour can do with friends and I've had my colours done several over the years and no one ever got it right (one well-known professional even refused to try!)😢

    Very helpful and enjoyable, thank you! I too had my colors analyzed back in the 80"s and had the Color Me Beautiful book (may still have). I had very dark hair and was tagged a winter. My wardrobe consisted of beautiful, rich jewel tones of which my closets still harbour. After seeing this video, I'm thinking perhaps those colors are too harsh for me now with my salt and pepper hair and lighter skin. Been purging my closets anyhow and now can add this criteria to help. I think Kerry-Lou is psychic as her videos are always so on-point which my personal struggles and/or travels.

      @@shelaghrobertson8286 That has to be it. Except, I can't imagine feeling confident in a color in which I knew I didn't look good.
      I have a friend who insists she looks good in colors that, I know don't do her any favors. I never tell her because--really it doesn't matter. And, in the end, who cares really?

    • @GingerBurrTIC
      @GingerBurrTIC 3 роки тому

      Melissa, personality doesn't affect your skin tone. I'm sorry if that was confusing. The things that affect the colors that look good on you are first and foremost your hair, skin and eye colors and then your personality can sometimes subtly affect the intensity or lightness or darkness of those colors. And I always recommend wearing colors that you love so even if a color is in your personal color palette, if you don't love it and feel amazing wearing it, then don't wear it. I once had a client who hated pink, just in general. She had pinks in her palette but mostly chose other colors instead because she liked them better. Hope all that helps :-)

The basic undertone of someone's skin doesn't change, but they can get ruddier or have discoloration, hyperpigmentation, or even stay more perpetually tanned than when they were younger. Another cousin overheard our aunt tell her mom, "She never WAS a pretty girl." A girl I knew as an adolescent, has an athletic dad, who told her she was getting chubby, & he wanted the family to take walks together after dinner. When I was 7, I overheard my mom on the phone say to her sister, "Well, we always love our [first] child the most." (I was the middle child). Truth can be painful!

She loved scarves and passed several down to me - her skin tone was different from mine but I still wanted to keep and use her scarves. My solution - I tie them on my handbags or put them under the lapel (hanging straight) if I wear a blazer. I'm not sure those are the right solution(s) but are working for me. I hate the thought of giving up my good winter coat, only a year old, my favorite blazer, cashmere wrap, cashmere sweaters and even a knitted beaver jacket in camel/toffee shades. And then there's jewelry. Help!
    As always, you look beautiful, Kerry-Lou. I would have liked to see you demonstrate more of the colors Ginger recommends for you. Next video!

    • @GingerBurrTIC

      Wren, thank you so much! You're right, it's very possible that as you go from blonde to gray hair that camel might be too warm for you. With your winter coat it's possible (at least for now) that you could add a winter scarf in a stunning color and that will off-set the warmth of the camel and keep it from being too close to your face. Kerry-Lou and I are talking about doing a session on jewelry so stay tuned!

    Thank you, Kerry-Lou and Ginger! This was fascinating! I'm color blind, so I wonder if you have any color or coordination tips for people who don't see colors like most people do. Makeup colors are so hard sometimes, because "Passion" or "Galaxy" don't give me a clue as to what those colors are!!! And I wouldn't dream of trying to color my own hair, as I might end up green, and nobody would tell me! Thank you!!! 💙💙💙

    • @GingerBurrTIC
      @GingerBurrTIC 3 роки тому +1

      You're right, that can feel frustrating. I'm sure Kerry-Lou can give you some pointers about make-up. For clothing colors I'd highly recommend having a color palette done. Then you can just show it to the saleswomen (or someone with whom you are shopping) to help you make selections that match. That way you don't have to rely on someone else feeling they know what is best or guessing as to what really looks good. And, believe me, even not being color blind I wouldn't color my own hair. I can just imagine what I'd look like if I did ;-)

    Oh Kerry Lou, I sooo enjoyed this video. I have a quite, easy personality, so the information about some colors being overwhelming is especially interesting and helpful. All of my life since childhood I've felt that people who are more verbal assume everyone is like them,so I've felt a little pressure often. Also my hair starting greying on the edges, before I was 25, but the back is still all black. In a weird way the C-19 has made me not as concerned anymore. I see ladies who are greying that I never knew before. U look absolutely stunning also. Did you ever get the opportunity to try the Goldbond Neck and Chest cream. Have an AWESOME weekend.😍

      Yes it definitely can be confusing! The person who did my colors studied the seasons strategy many years ago. She now analyzes in a different way. As I said in the video, you can still wear those classic winter colors, but you have to wear make up that pops too. Most of the time I go softer with my colors now, that way I don’t have to wear much make up. I keep everything softer. My color analysts name is Ginger Burr if you care to Google her.

I have always followed the Color Me Beautiful philosophy, and I love magentas , purples, blues, the cool neutrals, gemstone colors, etc. but I think I have to take into consideration my more mature skin tone. BTW, I’ve tried to wear my hair ( which is just about your length now) in the style you’re wearing today instead of curly all the time, and I just cannot seem to get it to look as beautiful as yours. Maybe you can do a video? TIA!

      Hi Karen, it sounds like you’re a very similar pallet to me. So as I said with ginger, if I pump up the make up a bit I can still wear those colors. The palette she gave me is less work , looks good with less make up or no make up at all. Regarding hair, I have been experimenting with the best products and a new hairdryer for this look. I always try to simplify the looks that I do For my UA-cam viewers. This process is good for me too, as I find that typically I do use too many products! Stay well my friend 💕😊

      Hi Melinda, I noticed my hair thinning a few years ago plus a patch of alopecia - probably triggered by a bad divorce! I decided to see a trichologist a year ago. She started with a blood test the check for nutritional deficiencies- in my case my D and B12 were both very low. I currently take supplements and a general vitamin tablet along with using minoxidil. Over the last 9 months I have seen an improvement, my alopecia patch is so much better! If you don’t want to see a trichologist, which isn’t cheap, I’d certainly recommend looking at a vitamin supplement- there are several on the market aimed at hair. Cx
