Go out, buy the Pink Fairies albums, take them home and listen to them through headphones (that's the important bit), and be totally blown away at how these guys could actually play!! Totally underated musicians that deserved so much more recognition.
I lije hawkwind ,but I only own one song never never land , from a UK psych compilation CD .Seen them on other UA-cam vids jamming not really a instrumental kinda per so but ill listen to some songs
Even though I had never met Twink he lent me his black Ludwig kit to do a gig with Nick Turner in 1982 (Rougham Tree Faire). Very kind. Lovely interview.
I just learned about Twink over the last few years with listening to 60's Psych music. He was very aware and cherished his fortunate gigs, album appearances and meetings with famous musicians, as he remembers every little detail of those moments from nearly 60 years ago.
Great interview. I can't get enough of the stories of the swinging London in the 60's. I think I've read about that Hendrix jam in one the many Jimi books I've read. Will check out Twinks bands, cool guy.
Get a book done Twink - you've lived an amazing life and were at the epicentre of the greatest period of British rock culture. Plus you're highly respected by music buffs. It would certainly fund your daughter through university! You never mentioned your great lead vocal on "I Wanna Be Free" by The Rings either - one of my favourite punk singles of 1977.
He actually remembers these times ….many do not and yet they were probably having more fun in their life than ever since. You know how it’s a combo of things that make such times. Specil
I saw The Pink Fairies in Harlow Park in 1973, promoting Kings of Oblivion. After a couple of songs Twink collapsed over his drum kit. One of the other band members wandered over, prodded him, said 'his battery's gone flat' and they carried on without him.
Bought the Pink Fairies' "Kings of Oblivion" album back in the mid '70s based on Cream magazine's critics choice. Think they should have been bigger in the U.S.
be hard pressed to find someone that was more part of the london/uk psych scene than Twink, would have loved to have heard more antidotes from that period
The pink floyd wish you was here story with syd yes they was some false talkas he didnt brush his teeth continuously as Gilmour said, and some said they was there and defo wasn't ,sweet at the end getting that hug ,good choice of lp s
I’ve seen the photo from where Syd came to the studio during the making of Shine on You Crazy Diamond, and it’s perfectly plausible that the band would have taken some time to recognise Syd. The picture is shocking - fat, dreadfully dressed and bald. A very, very different looking Syd.
A few months before the 'incident' Roger Waters gave an interview to Capitol Radio in which he said that he knew Barrett had shaved his head and was always dropping in on PF sessions. So it's highly unlikely he didn't recognise him.
Yes he was, but only for about 18 months, until August 1969, I think. Great drummer and great performer and in my experience part of one of their best line-ups!
Saw Twink with the Pretty things at Hyde Park 68/69? He climbed on top of the van that had the P.A speakers on top and he jumped off, he was wearing high heels boots at the time now if I had done that I would have broken my ankles, he was a loon but a real character.
Shocking name-dropping compared to the time back then which I recall well when promoting an "alternative lifestyle". Sick of hearing about the rich and security-managed. Still, he looks happy

twink you are a legend mate

Wow. What a star. I didn’t know he did all that. What a nice chap too. Thanks for excellent interview

😂 👍
Twink looked great. He's played on so many recordings that are dear to me. Thank you and best wishes.
Great stories from Twink thank you for the interview and greetings from Toronto !
Thank you Twink, for making Hawkwinds Kinetic Playground performance my fav Hawk live recording. Yes you were in Hawkwind - once.
Very insightful interview. Thanks!
Amazing interview! Thank you!
What a lovely and interesting bloke. He should write an autobiography.
He is apparently!
I'd definitely would love to read it and learn about the scene
Do it! Get it on, don't forget to boogie & up the pinks!
I remember the Pink Fairies roadie nailing Twinks kit to the stage floor at Cromer Links Pavilion, Norfolk, U.K. 1972-3.
It was a common practice in bands.
Did this take place in Morocco, England, Canada or somewhere else? Interesting conversation 🙏
He is a gem

It leaves a pleasant surprise waiting for those who have yet to discover them. The Pretty Things as well.
Super, tolles Interview!
Thanks for posting. Very interesting interview.
20:16 That is not Jenny Spires, that is Iggy.
"Iggy the eskimo!"
I was gonna point that out too but I thought they was just using a photo .
Happy birthday 80 today hope you are well in 2024
He always wears the coolest hats!
He could've walked in to the Gong line up with that hat
The Byrds played Blaise’s on August 6th 1965!
be hard pressed to find someone that was more part of the london/uk psych scene than Twink, would have loved to have heard more antidotes from that period
Here's somebody you don't hear much about on this side of the pond..thank you for this!
The Pink Fairies did I see them on Britain got talent.
My all-time favourite band. Or it WAS until Jaki Windmill joined! Can't get used to a woman singing "The Snake"!
The pink floyd wish you was here story with syd yes they was some false talkas he didnt brush his teeth continuously as Gilmour said, and some said they was there and defo wasn't ,sweet at the end getting that hug ,good choice of lp s
The best
wish you were still with us mike
Great geezer

Name-dropper 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. What a great story, amazing.
Twink is cool
Up the Pinks!
He has found his Gitana!
Was Twink in the Pretty Thing's ????
YES, just seen it in the heading. Does 'mime'.
Yes he was, but only for about 18 months, until August 1969, I think. Great drummer and great performer and in my experience part of one of their best line-ups!
Yes, he was on SF Sorrow, he got them to sign away some royalties despite not writing any songs... As payment, because they had no cash to pay him.

Twink does a very good George Harrison impersonation!
Slobbering horrible rock n roll is true honesty and paved the way for punk.
Shocking name-dropping compared to the time back then which I recall well when promoting an "alternative lifestyle". Sick of hearing about the rich and security-managed. Still, he looks happy
Can't tell a good story without name dropping. Who cares....the details are so good.
The 60’s spoiled me for the rest of my life which was a lot less magical.
Too much ambient noise!
Walk Don't Run
The Fairies were absolutely Sh*t. 100% on intention, .05% on result. Don't argue, I was there.
Did you ever sit in the front row on the King's of Oblivion tour? Might have changed your mind... 😎
I was there at one of their gigs. Absolutely amazing and I've been fortunate enough to see some big groups in the '70's
I will argue. I prefer Twink to G. Baker any time - mostly because Baker is an asshole.
Wtf with that obnoxious intro😢
Up the Pinks!
