The song is fire! BUT description seems wrong? Hastings =/= Stamford Bridge!
2 armies invaded England that year one from Scandinavia (which this song is about) which the the English defeated at Stamford Bridge (near York) . The then had to march 400 miles to Hastings to face William the Bastard and his Normans

This is like a tribute and a requiem of the last hurrah of the Vikings. And fitting this is the last track on the album. Really one of their best on the albums, a homage to the Norsemen.

I don't understand this, 1066 was the battle between the anglo Saxons and Normans, despite the Norman calling Scandinavia their past home, the Vikings were mostly sticking to themselves in this time.
It is actually about the Battle of Stamford Bridge, which took place 3 weeks before Hastings. Harold Hardrada of Norway led an army to claim the throne of England, but Godwinson defeated him here. They needed 20 ships to return the survivors. Out of three hundred. Hardrada was killed in the battle, too, an arrow to the neck. The Normans invaded while Harold was in the north.
