I’m a long time fan of this channel who has nothing but appreciation for all the in depth commentary and everyone working hard on it, but personally this time it was kind of sad for me that several reactors felt weird about Catallena’s music video and the sushi concept when it’s in fact such a brilliant metaphor for the industry. It criticizes how women are perceived and objectified, almost made into an object for consumption and are expected to not show individuality, only applying to the society’s standarts. The octopus lady represents the ideal standarts expected of women which decides their worth. As the girls’ worth drop and they become more and more low class, not getting picked to be eaten, they wish to be like the octopus lady. In the end when they finally reach that level, they are seen eating sushi, showing that they have become a part of the consumption mentality just like everyone else. They cry while eating the sushi as they realize that they have left their true, free selves behind (the mermaid and sea images) and became a part of what they so disliked.

"It's just so nasal" !!!! Raina did say she has to sing in three different styles for when she's singing with After School, when she's singing with Orange Caramel, and when she's singing solo. And, of course, Orange Caramel is all about the nasality lmao. But then again, Orange Caramel is heavily influenced by trot music which is all nasal and like choppy(???).

Yeah they even specifically showed the difference in their singing for OC when they went on Sugar Man. They said they specifically make their voice nasally to match the trot genre which often sounds like that.
Callmeashy yup not only that this is their debut single. Nana and Lizzy wasn't vocal ability not as good as Raina. They grew over time which can be tell when the sang Bangkok City.
Someone please explain what Trot-Pop is to Gwen and Hugo...they are supposed to sound like that when they sing...they're actually all very good singers...

I’m surprised no one caught on to the social commentary/satirical aspect of Catellena, usually they’re pretty quick on that stuff. I’m also kind of disappointed the vocalists turned their noses up towards the music without considering there might be more to the vocal style. A sound doesn’t always directly translate to one specific vocal technique, especially in traditional eastern music.
Orange Caramel is the best kind of satire. You can go down the well of serious discussion on almost any OC video. Is "Shanghai Romance" a commentary on misuse of cultural appropriation? What does "Bangkok City" say about the whole idea of dressing up for a night on the town? What does "Gangnam Avenue" say about Cinderella style fantasy? How much do we miss in our day like "My Copycat"? What does "Funny Hunny" say about fan culture? On the other hand, you can just enjoy the cringe as well. It's like they say that those deep questions ought to be asked, but we also ought not be consumed by the concerns brought up. Often these issues are the results of trade-offs, and the best solution isn't to get rid of the issues, but to be aware of the issues and prevent yourself from falling into their pitfalls. As to the whole stylings of OC, it's very important to keep in mind the context of After School and general Korean taste. In general, Korea tends to like the more cute pure girl concept, and After School... doesn't really really do that. The closest was "Shampoo" (or "Lady Luck" for a Japanese release, but at least in "Shampoo" Kahi doesn't look like she wants to secretly kill someone). OC just took that cute pure image and ramps it up as high as they can go, nasal singing and all to simultaneously mock and embrace it. To Hugo and Gwen, the way they're singing isn't the way they normally sing; they majorly ramp it up making fun of the tendency to be nasal in kpop. While Lizzy and Nana aren't the best vocalists (Nana actually is nasal normally), Raina is actually considered of the better vocalists in Kpop (Though its best seen with more solo stuff than with either OC or AS). When active, Orange Caramel would only have a comeback once or twice a year. Most of the time, they weren't singing that way. In fact, even with some of their other OC stuff, it isn't as nasal as these songs are (though, it's still there as it's part of the aim).
I’m bummed that most of the reactors didn’t seem to “get” Orange Caramel. I agree with you Umu. I love them because their music is satire but I think they do such a good job of creating a whole concept that the tongue-in-cheek aspect can get lost on some people. I also would be curious to see what Gwen and Hugo would think of Trot music or more traditional korean singing. It’s very nasal and high-pitched but people spend their whole careers singing that way without ruining their vocal cords. Maybe there is a technique there I can’t pick up on? Even when they don’t love the music I still love to see others react to it because it makes me realize what I love about the songs. Keep it up Umu!!
hbhstar341 hong jinyoung is a popular trot singer, and she joined this kbs reality variety show where they try to make a girl group out of celebrities (the unnies? i think it was called) and of course they had to go through training and all that stuff for when companies make their kpop groups. they had vocal training, and they talk about how it can be hard for hong jinyoung to get out of her "trot voice." there's more to it, try to check it out on the kbs youtube channel!
For Orange Caramel, Pledis forced them to make their voices all nasally like that. They've talked about it before. I really suggest watching Lizzy's solo work and Masked Singer.
Please show them After School so they can hear how their voices are different. Especially for the vocalists reacting in this video maybe they'll like their voices in After School a bit better, I know I do.
Yeah, even Raina herself has said she has 3 different singing voices and the one she uses for Orange Caramel is purposely very nasal. The one she uses in After School (like the high note in Flashback) is much better.
It is very sad that they belittle a girl group as iconic as Orange Caramel, I understand that they did not like their vocal technique but they were not criticizing objectively, they were insulting them and their concept just for being different. They didn’t understand anything.
The moment I saw my notifs with Orange Caramel in it, I knew Hugo and Gwen won't like their technique. I personally like AS, but Orange Caramel doesn't work for me. Like they said, it's a preference issue. But reacting to them is rare right now so I appreciate you adding this video. I'm missing all the 2nd gen groups. I hope to see more of them here on your channel. Great job to everyone!
I feel like Gwen doesn't like "classic" kpop groups with a cute style. She often says they look the same or that the voices are too high for her to like it. Most importantly, I think they are not introduced to traditional Korean music which is a huge influence for orange caramel (basically trot). That's the difficulty when you are raised in a musical culture and assess everything according to your own standards. For example, it took me a while to get used to Cantonese opera. But I feel like they are properly introduced to it or just ignore it. Other bands like Blackpink or Mamamoo have a more rnb or blues inspiration and they would appeal more to the usual American audience.
but Hugo and Gwen clearly stated that the way they used their voices were very wrong and unhealthy, so it was making Hugo and Gwen, as vocalists, uncomfortable. What is it have to do with cute concept and Korean trot music???
Kinda funny that the way they describe kpop is reversed :) Kpop was the catchy type first and then now some of it is actually changing,.. from quirky catchy weird interesting to emotional bop serious deep still interesting but little less weird but more stylish etc... but i like that some groups still stick to the catchy cute since its one of the trademark of kpop..
It's the overall style aesthetic of the outfits and the way their voices are high pitched reminds a lot of people of mainstream "stereotype" Jpop. That being said, I did see a video where someone did think an older (by older, it was released a few years before Orange Caramel) Jpop song sounded a lot similar to Orange Caramel Magic Girl.
Catellena has been a real classic for me, one of the best kpop videos from one of the best groups. I liked the comments appreciating all the effort they put into making that video, and combining the musical motifs in a fresh, interesting way. Thanks for reacting to this wonderful song! :)
oof. wish more research can be done on the group and what they're trying to emulate so that the reactors can at least be informed of what the group is trying to achieve with their songs. a brief look at the front page of a google search wouldn't hurt, surely.
i'm not even an avid fan of orange caramel but from the very beginning of the video where they were presented as a typical run-of-the-mill kpop group, i knew it wasn't going to end well. granted, their concept was briefly implied but considering this channel focuses more on the music, it's unfortunate that it was completely unmentioned their songs and performances are heavily influenced by trot music.
Their "research" is done through tweets. That's the problem, they don't research extra information other than what fans they than on Twitter. I understand they are college students and super busy but if you're going to talk about any subject you should check the info. So many videos lack info (give wrong info) because they don't double check!
I agree w/ other comments here that this video showed me the ways where this channel's commentary lacks some contextual understanding. Before listening to Orange Caramel, it would definitely be helpful to listen to trot (both traditional and especially pop trot). I might take some of their criticisms more seriously if they understood where the musical references, styles and techniques (the korean ones, that is) were coming from. It's one thing to explain why something's a problematic style, it's another to treat it with disdain because you don't know why they're singing that way (I agree with umu's comment that it's satire -- even vocally, it is satire). I know that the vocalists don't like and worry about a lot of the poor vocal training that kpop artists get (and it's not that I think that's wrong), but after this video (and the sort of angry vibes about it I got from them??) I was pretty disappointed. I feel bad because I avoided watching for a couple days because Catallena is my most favorite kpop song and I figured I would be disappointed by the analysis (since musically/lyrically it's pretty complex and ridiculous, lol), so I probably should've just skipped the vid, but still :( I'm bummed.
Ok, first of all, thanks for the reaction.. I'm so happy whenever I see songs from second generation groups hahah.. I'm having a major throwback rn.. "Magic Girl" was the first kpop choreography I memorized, because it's easier to follow as compared to other kpop songs and I reall~llly love the song and almost all of Orange Caramel releases.. I know some might not like it and it's down to preferences but I really think OC is a very solid and strong unit.. They have their own characters and they gave joy to those listening.. I just wish I could listen to more OC TT^TT
I *LOVE* me some orange caramel!!! I wonder if Umu told the vocalists that they sing like that on purpose 🤔 that’s just their trot influence/imitation baby 😂😂😂 (it is high key satire)
I feel like to appreciate anything OC you need to have some After School context, stylistically. They're different, and even old timers like us can see how their appeal can rub wrong. They're honestly, well.. ODD. I personally love it a lot. But others wont. That being said, maybe cut Gwen and Hugo some slack because they are, first and foremost, vocalists. That will always, ALWAYS be the first thing theyll listen for. And honestly they're not wrong, After School's vocal technique is not the healthiest. And yes, it is a trot style, but there's no denying that that type of straining will take its toll on your voice. Just because it's the style/meant to be like that doesn't mean it's good for you. They tried to keep an open mind, but sometimes there are things that are just difficult to understand and appreciate. I'd rather that they give me the T like this, in a firm, disappointed, respectful manner, rather than fake their way through it or straight up hate it. Just my thoughts :)
akkeyroomi: I agree pretty much with most things you said. Although I do think G&H allowed whatever justifiable objections they had to their technique have a negative bias to the other areas of the music/M/V. This is a common behavior and I think it is immature, but they are young people. Also I remember college as a pretty idealized version of life for most people attending. Lol.
akkeyroomi: I felt the same way with Yunyi's reaction to Twice. I really like when reactors have "less than glowing" opinions. (Platitudes get old really fast!) But it does have to "feel" rational and mostly unbiased to be valid in my opinion.
bob ansak that makes sense. I was personally alright with it, but I can see how it may not sit well like you said. I wish we also have access to their unedited reaction, we mightve missed a lot especially towards the end of catallena
akkeyroomi: "We" will, eventfully. Umu does provide the unedited reactions for Patreon subscribers in case you didn't know. It does take awhile since she started posting unedited reactions well after she started the channel and she keeps to a schedule. I don't remember at what monetary value one has to contribute, there are several, to see the unedited stuff. I find them really fun and informative to watch since one gets a better idea of the reactors personalities. I have only watched one or maybe two videos from After School, any recommendations? Thanks! Also for OC. I do like a bit of trot too. Since I watched Hong Jin-Young on Sister's Slam Dunk I briefly delved into trot.
This was great you should show them after school lol and let them know the girls from orange caramel are in after school I’m sure they will be surprised lmao!
i miss you oh I though she mentioned it. But I was saying show them I didn’t hear her say she will show them after school I heard her say there a subgroup or after school then moved on. I could be wrong still wanted to write it though because it would be great to see their reaction to after school after seeing this subgroup imo. My bad.
Wow so I guess the saying is true “Many people don’t know satire, even when they’re slapped in the face with it”. Trot music is like this and many Trot singers use their voices like that and have been in the game for 30+ year. I don’t blame the chorus kids tho, I was one once and I was just as pretentious to the art like they were but they should explore more ranges of singing.
I remember when Orange Caramel first debuted as a sub-unit, the general reaction in Korea was WTF IS THIS?! in a negative way, especially because it was so different from After School's style. People were saying stuff like, why are they singing a trot song, they're doing like a discount Japanese girl group, Nana is too tall to pretend to be that cutesy, etc etc.... and then after a few weeks people started saying "whoa.... this song's actually really addictive and I kind of like it now" and the rest is history lol I don't really think the singing technique of Orange Caramel is all that trot-like, other than being extra nasal.
Wow. That was a downer. Was so excited when I saw my notification. I mean, finally, Orange Caramel! Anyway, I really miss After School so much. Really sad that we're not getting any more from them.
Orange Caramel was totally made in refference to J-pop and J-idol pop (especifically). J-pop always has these modulations, and genre fusions you don't see anywhere else, especially if you go to Stardust produced groups, like Team Syachihoko or Momoiro Clover. I like it cause they have their own sound, and variety, unlike most k-pop groups that are way more mainstream, but have no artistic integrity-
I love Orange Caramel! Their style is very distinctive and clearly not everyone's cup. Plus, their MV's are all in point, Catellena especially. The visuals are fantastic and the meaning behind it is quite deep. Sometimes the visuals are just as important as the song itself.
Whenever they react to older groups and their older songs, they somehow always dislike it lol. Which makes me really sad because I have been listening to kpop since 2009, the peak of the second generation of idols. I think all of them are so used to the variety of genres kpop has shown over the past few years, that it is hard for them to appreciate the original songs that laid the foundation for what kpop is today. Yes, the first generation provided a level of foundation also, but kpop really grew during its second generation. Although not their cup of tea, magic girl was such a sensation in Korea at the time, even the male idol groups were covering the song! I remember lies and haru haru also didn't impress them, but crushed me even more because those songs literally made BB the sensation they are today. I have always said, and will always say... kpop is not a genre of music, it is a culture and many kpop fans take it very seriously. I think that is why whenever the reactors don't like certain artists or "famous" kpop songs, it is really hard to except. Well, at least for me lol.
I feel like some of the reactors were being super judgemental... I used to hate "cute" concepts but Orange Caramel had something very different and unique going on. From what I know their songs are very iconic, especially magic girl back the in day. And I'm no musical expert but after seeing countless lives their voices sound normal? Also Nana does have a nasal-y voice normally.
Yeah I was pretty disappointed in their reactions. The whole point of this channel is for them to express their opinions, so I can't blame them when they show bias, but I feel like they let their bias /more/ than usual get in the way of seeing this group and the songs as especially unique and fun in the k-pop sphere.
I'll be honest, the vocalist pair is starting to piss me off. It's one thing to assess someone's vocal technique and give constructive criticism but these two are on a whole other level. I've casually listened to orange caramel's songs and don't really consider myself a fan but even I was getting uncomfortable from their never-ending vitriol. I have to say I'm quite glad they were cut from the second reaction because I honestly can't stand how snobby they are, acting as though they're experts or something?? Especially when it's a foreign music genre they're analyzing. But anyway, maybe they'll be replaced next season or something. The other reactors were great and even if they didn't like it, they were good about pointing out what worked in the song and what didn't.
They are experts. They literally studied it. Even though OC sang their songs in a purposeful way, what the reactors said isn't wrong. It's no secret that Nana and Lizzy are weak vocalists, even in After School. Ya'll really getting butthurt over the truth.
Get Em! I forgot I even wrote this comment lmao it’s been so long but anyway calling 2 music school students “experts” is the equivalent of calling an undergrad premed student a physician. Not to say they’re completely unqualified to make these criticisms- they’re definitely more knowledgeable about music and vocal technique than me or any other average layperson. That being said, my problem wasn’t the content of their criticisms but rather the way they presented them. You can completely point out every single mistake the singers make without making an ass out of yourself. I’ve seen actual vocal coaches or professional singers (who have more of a “right” to be snobby about it) give better criticisms and feedback rather than just insulting the singers. Then again the music composition/analysis community is generally full of elitist snobs anyway so I guess I shouldn’t expect much. I’m not butthurt about their reactions, I wasn’t into OC at the time and I’m not even into kpop anymore but I still stand by the fact that you can make genuine criticisms about a work without making a deliberate effort to put someone down and be blatantly disrespectful. Maybe one day you and that reaction pair will become mature enough to see that lol
@@getem7640 Nah but the thing is, it's literally the STYLE of kpop music for girls to (generally) sing in more cutesy, nasally voices. It doesn't mean they can't sing, it's just the style. Take groups like Twice for example.
They should react to Orange Caramel's live performances. And it would be really interesting they reacting them in After School, like Heaven and Bang!, like, it's so different, Raina uses different technique in each "group" (I mean in AS, OC and her solos).
Also wish the reactors would try to really look into the story. This MV was not about sushi. I know the reactors pay attention to the actual music but think about what the MV is showing you too.
it is their concept to go nasal.... like literally... cuz they have the element of "Trot Music" which is a genre from korea where people sing in nasal voices
Raina said in a interview that her voice in afterschool, orange caramel, and her solo songs are so different from each other because of the type of sound and style she or her company wants her to go for...I understand what those vocalists were trying to say but it's not their natural sound they do that on purpose....so please show them how they really sound since they dislike this SO MUCH....I will always stan orange caramel for being different and unique and not everyone will see that~
I've been waiting for this forever because Orange Caramel are my all time fave and they're the reason I got into kpop but I couldn't be more dissappointed. I'm upset no one understood how good they are, and they critiqued the stuff that is done on purpose. i'm glad at least umu appreciates them tho.
Lmao at the people getting all touchy about cultures yet the reason they didn’t like the song is because they are ignorant to traditional Korean trot music. Keep having opinions of absolutely no substance for cheap woke points, see where that gets you. Also they’re fine when they copy western sources but copying an easters source oh noooo. AND double of course the people mad were white Americans.
If you weren't a fan of their vocalization here, listen to raina's solo " you end, and me" or "midsummer night sweetness". She actually has good technique. Raina is the black haired member in catalena.
constructive criticism is when you give a solution to the problem. "JUST STOP IT'S SO NASALLY I JUST CAN'T I DON'T LIKE THIS IT HURTS TO LISTEN" isn't constructive criticism. Even great singers like Adele and Mariah Carey with good technique and control have issues and damage their vocal cords.
Its pronounced Pun-jah-bee (pun like the joke), not Poon-jah-bee. I remember when first hearing Catallena, I was like why does this sound like a Hindi song. I had no idea it was sampled.
This might come off as weird but I like the fact that those reactors felt underwhelmed, unimpressed and some of them even left for the second part. OC was never meant for the musical ear, the serious analytic/critic and this just proves it. OC existed for quirky ppl who have 0 vocals or talents for that matter, but appreciate the offbeat, whimsical and anime-like music videos. My teenage ass shipped them so much and their randomness always brightened up my day.

Jamie Dylan thanks! I’ll check it out! 😊
For Orange Caramel, Pledis forced them to make their voices all nasally like that. They've talked about it before. I really suggest watching Lizzy's solo work and Masked Singer.
Orange Caramel deserved better
Agree
orange caramel is heavily influenced by korean trot music which is why their music sounds so “old”
Miss Orange Caramel so much... although the members are older now, i believe they can pull off a more mature OC that fans will love
my goshhh maknae is still in her 25!!
Seeing the drama in after school now, I dont think they will pull off another comeback.
If they did I would be surprised af.
By far the best kpop girl band of all time
im assuming hugo and gwen basically gave up listening to catanella midway or maybe even earlier.
Honestly theyre annoying. 😭
The one she uses in After School (like the high note in Flashback) is much better.
have they reacted to After School ones
Why would anyone be uncomfortable because of the sushi tho?
Pretending to be food is a bit unusual lol
Sarah Fletcher
Really? XD I think it's normal, but maybe it's differ from person to another.
きのしたひでよし
Omg, I'm dying XD.
Catallena is actually a critique on the industry
"I'm trying to have an open mind...." As usual says the most close minded one!
Lmao
Ikr
Reading the comments it's not that obvious who really are the close-minded ones.
it's true but the thing is it's always the same people xD
they shouldnt react if they dont have an open mind, it isnt the first time they treat girl groups like shit coz they are close minded
It is very sad that they belittle a girl group as iconic as Orange Caramel, I understand that they did not like their vocal technique but they were not criticizing objectively, they were insulting them and their concept just for being different. They didn’t understand anything.
i love after school and orange caramel.. too bad we may never get another mv from them... thank you for another great video!!
Gairu Xela boom boom felt alot like OC
BFjordsman Sorry but where ? OC are way more original songs and concepts.
Noems Noems yes boom boom copied them, has a Crayon Pop feel too
ironically boom boom sounds to me like OC "copy cat" even parts of dance are similar
OC references a lot older music specifically Trot. I heard it a lot when I first started listening to Kpop. Trot has influenced a lot of Kpop songs.
You HAVE to show them the live "HA!" compilation! They deserve to know how hilarious this song is live!
Great job to everyone!
im assuming hugo and gwen gave midway while listening to catallena coz there was none of their reactions on the edit.
i'm actually glad they got cut out
I feel like Gwen doesn't like "classic" kpop groups with a cute style.
Kyuhyun Suju wow now im curious about cantonese opera.. definitely gonna check it out !
I read this comment before I got to that part, but after hearing their disclaimer I'm sort of relieved we got spared.
but Hugo and Gwen clearly stated that the way they used their voices were very wrong and unhealthy, so it was making Hugo and Gwen, as vocalists, uncomfortable. What is it have to do with cute concept and Korean trot music???
Catallena is such a bop! I remember when it was basically all over the kpop world. Crazy!
Orange Caramel always reminds me of some J-pop groups so much whenever I hear them.
I can't get over the two vocalist oriented reactors their never-ending negative reaction is so distracting from every other reactor
RIGHT. Like they had nothing nice to say
literally like SORRY U DONT GET ITTTTTTTT
"They'll last for 5 years"... Im sorry, but they were together for 7 years....
Truth. They ended up being arguably more popular than After School (the group they were a sub unit of).
saw orange caramel and just zoomed here from another video
same!!
Same
Welp you must have been disappointed. They didn’t get it at all “sigh”
Oh man, I really miss Orange Caramel ;;
Same 😭
Catallena is a trot-like classic. Second generation bop!
CATALENA IS THE WEIRDEST AND MOST ICONIC SONG EVER, also NU'EST is After School's brother group whose also under pledis.
Catellena has been a real classic for me, one of the best kpop videos from one of the best groups. I liked the comments appreciating all the effort they put into making that video, and combining the musical motifs in a fresh, interesting way. Thanks for reacting to this wonderful song! :)
I don't enjoy listening to classical singers reacting to kpop, Gwen and Hugo always give me the impression they rather be doing anything else.
Honestly........sometimes same
oof. wish more research can be done on the group and what they're trying to emulate so that the reactors can at least be informed of what the group is trying to achieve with their songs. a brief look at the front page of a google search wouldn't hurt, surely.
i'm not even an avid fan of orange caramel but from the very beginning of the video where they were presented as a typical run-of-the-mill kpop group, i knew it wasn't going to end well. granted, their concept was briefly implied but considering this channel focuses more on the music, it's unfortunate that it was completely unmentioned their songs and performances are heavily influenced by trot music.
Their "research" is done through tweets. That's the problem, they don't research extra information other than what fans they than on Twitter. I understand they are college students and super busy but if you're going to talk about any subject you should check the info. So many videos lack info (give wrong info) because they don't double check!
"oh that was shit! that was the dope!" 😂😂😂
OMFG!! Orange Caramel! I love you guys so much!!! Thanks for reacting to them!!
*OMG U ARE REACTING TO MY FAVE GROUP/SUB-UNIT IM SO HAPPY
Never trust anyone who doesn't think that Catallena is a masterpiece.
Or "Bar, Bar, Bar" also.
I just wish I could listen to more OC TT^TT
my favourite Orange Caramel song is Bangkok City.
Colby Chaos Good taste 👌
Pledis did Orange Caramel dirty.
ERMAHGERD WUT Pledis did all of their groups besides Seventeen and Pristin dirty
they chose the nasel sound for some reason. they were on immortal songs and it was shocking how good they sounded.
Catallena is a classic kpop. Only intellectual gets it.
I *LOVE* me some orange caramel!!!
I wonder if Umu told the vocalists that they sing like that on purpose 🤔
that’s just their trot influence/imitation baby 😂😂😂 (it is high key satire)
Yup! And I told them they sing in a different (more "normal") in AS
I feel like to appreciate anything OC you need to have some After School context, stylistically.
Lol.
bob ansak thats true! They did zone in on it.
akkeyroomi: I felt the same way with Yunyi's reaction to Twice.
My bad.
i miss you lol you’ve just got me excited too!! I love this channels content! 🙏
People were saying stuff like, why are they singing a trot song, they're doing like a discount Japanese girl group, Nana is too tall to pretend to be that cutesy, etc etc.... and then after a few weeks people started saying "whoa.... this song's actually really addictive and I kind of like it now" and the rest is history lol
I don't really think the singing technique of Orange Caramel is all that trot-like, other than being extra nasal.
Sometimes the visuals are just as important as the song itself.
this song is still a bop now, yassssssssssss
I MISS THEM SO MUCH. NANA IS SUCH A QUEEN
Nana is perfection.
The other reactors were great and even if they didn't like it, they were good about pointing out what worked in the song and what didn't.
sexxygummybearr yes thank you I was about to fucking punch my fucking phone
Maybe one day you and that reaction pair will become mature enough to see that lol
i agree with you those two seems likes mean and just wanted to show they know everything lol
@@getem7640 Nah but the thing is, it's literally the STYLE of kpop music for girls to (generally) sing in more cutesy, nasally voices. It doesn't mean they can't sing, it's just the style. Take groups like Twice for example.
I MISS ORANGE CARAMEL SO MUCH YOU GUYS DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM- 😭💔 thank you for bringing them back :') *intense crying*
Orange Caramel is one of the weird side of kpop
ik but catallena is a bop
that's what sets them apart and makes them unique
the best part of kpop, the true kpop :)
Boobee Boobee naaah it would A guy by N.O.M. That whole mv was basically fucking strange.
Iris Bemis nope, N.O.M is deep side of kpop 😂
This channel NEEDS to react to this again
They should react to Orange Caramel's live performances. And it would be really interesting they reacting them in After School, like Heaven and Bang!, like, it's so different, Raina uses different technique in each "group" (I mean in AS, OC and her solos).
The girls said company made em sing that way, contrasting After School
I thank you so much for the nostalgia ;; you're bringing back songs I had forgotten about
I really do hate these people who never really listen to a music..before making any comments, good or bed, listen first.
What about reacting to Afterschool also. Ah or Because of you or Bang or First Love. . Thank you for the reaction videos!
TooOld ForThisShiteu Because of you and Flashback are their biggest hits I think.
i agree, but i think because of you and shampoo will be good for there listening ^^
*ggs doing the real korean concept*
the white ppl in this vid : i feel uncomfortable its so creepy
The technique (nasal squeaky sound) is intentional to the genre - asian bubblegum pop. they can actually do non-nasal sounds.
Please react to Jung joon young Sympathy
Beautiful song!!
Yeeea please do!!
agree
Ew jung joon young 🤢
Wow, I now remember why I even 'forgot' this reaction exists lol. This was a pain to watch.
Also wish the reactors would try to really look into the story. This MV was not about sushi. I know the reactors pay attention to the actual music but think about what the MV is showing you too.
when you're watching the classical musicians react as usual and then midway you realize you're watching them grow and they're like your children
OMG bless u guys for giving them old stuff to look a too
man this song was HUGE when it came out... still slaps
it is their concept to go nasal.... like literally... cuz they have the element of "Trot Music" which is a genre from korea where people sing in nasal voices
i have never been so shook by yalls timing. i was literally having an orange caramel marathon yday i love yall
OMG thank you so much for reacting to OC this is my bop!!
CATALLENA A CLASSIC BOP
React to Sunny Hill "Midnight Circus" and "The Grasshopper Song" please!!!!
Grasshopper song is so musically complex it would definitely be a good topic for discussion, just wish they found people who knew music theory better.
Yay!!!! Finally I've been waiting for this for forever!!
Raina said in a interview that her voice in afterschool, orange caramel, and her solo songs are so different from each other because of the type of sound and style she or her company wants her to go for...I understand what those vocalists were trying to say but it's not their natural sound they do that on purpose....so please show them how they really sound since they dislike this SO MUCH....I will always stan orange caramel for being different and unique and not everyone will see that~
Their recations make me uncomfortable.
I can't help myself coming back to the old reactions, damn Hugo always came with the best phrases:
That was shit!
That was the dope.
I've been waiting for this forever because Orange Caramel are my all time fave and they're the reason I got into kpop but I couldn't be more dissappointed. I'm upset no one understood how good they are, and they critiqued the stuff that is done on purpose. i'm glad at least umu appreciates them tho.
some of these musicians have sticks up their buts they’re so uptight 😭
I've been waiting for this!!!!!
Just checked you reacts schedule and WOW you have JYJ In Heaven on the list of vocalist reacts. I can't be any happier than now. ♥
THANK YOU
If you weren't a fan of their vocalization here, listen to raina's solo " you end, and me" or "midsummer night sweetness".
Raina actually said in Weekly Idol how she sang differently when she sang in After School, in Orange Caramel and in her solos
Ahhhh!!! Been waiting for this for soo looooong!!!
I'm so happy that you reacted to Orange Caramel ♡♡♡ Magic girl is my favorite song!
Catallena is my life. 😂
