I'm a laborer in construction also. We're putting up 2 condos, and the GC and subs are stupid. It amazes me how many stupid people are in construction, and it's an important job. These condos are so bad, the GC fired the super, and foreman and the VP had to take over to try and salvage the project

As part of our safety training at an employer I worked for many years ago, they showed us some CCTV footage of a man being crushed by a forklift at what appeared to be a warehouse. The victim was on his cell phone and the forklift operator was driving forward with a large, vision-obscuring load. It was awful.
The forks drivers go pretty fast, but it just doesn't take that much to pierce the column with a fork. It happens a lot more than you think. The wall of that hollow column might be as thin as 1/4" even brand new.
Remember it is not just the speed. The forklift has a lot of mass. Minimum of 3000 lbs. (1360 kg). Ran a quick calculation and 3000 lbs at 8 mph is 5640 foot pounds of energy. That is about 10 times what a .45 acp puts out. That will punch right through a pretty good beam. Plus box beams get strength from the shape as well as the wall thickness.
Those expressions are the result of stress caused by repeated states of shock. Nothing ceases to amaze him anymore. Numbness is permanently set like concrete.
These episodes are more funnier than the 3 stooges or of anything all of mankind ever produced. I want Adam Rose to have a national TV show. The show would be number 1.

@@IanSlatasTotally agree on the material aspect, puzzled that they are sharp enough to ‘cut’ through the column rather than just denting it.
I figured it was thin and just holds electrical or network cables.
I have seen a fork driven right through a roof support RSJ at floor level like that. It was a 4 ton forklift
