Sahra Wagenknecht demands a demarcation from the course of CDU leader Friedrich Merz in Ukraine policy when her BSW forms a coalition with the CDU in Thuringia and Saxony. “After Friedrich Merz's appalling speech in the Bundestag this week, in which he effectively called for Germany to enter the war against Russia, we can only enter into coalitions with his party if the state government clearly distances itself from such positions,” the BSW federal chairwoman told ‘Spiegel’.

If that is not enough, Germany will supply Taurus cruise missiles to destroy the supply routes of the Russian army.” Ukraine repeatedly demands that it be allowed to use Western weapons against targets on Russian territory in its defensive struggle.
In the ARD program ‘Bericht aus Berlin,’ Wagenknecht said that US President Joe Biden ”has not lifted the range restrictions on American missiles for good reason.” “And Mr. Merz is calling for something that the world's largest military power is not doing, and with good reason. So that's sheer madness,” she criticized. If the BSW forms a coalition with Merz's party, ”then of course it must be made clear, also to our voters, that the state government is clearly taking a different course and setting different priorities.”
