Assessing lower extremity mobility evaluates joints, bones, and muscles to identify limitations. Key motions to assess are hip and knee flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, and rotation. Ankle dorsiflexion, plantarflexion, inversion, and eversion should also be tested. Gait should be observed for abnormalities along with muscle strength and tone. Documenting baseline lower extremity mobility and changes over time helps detect impairments requiring intervention and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
