I was in need of a large format CNC router so I made one. I designed all the 3D printed parts and structure in Fusion360 and then made all the cuts, holes and taps. The router is capable of cutting 10mm soft plywood really fast and I don't think I'll have any issues with any kind of wood cutting. It probably would be able to cut aluminium really slow too.

The amount of work you put into your builds is insane.
The amount of work he puts into editing the video is insane
its more the amount of money he saves...
When are you putting out a new vid lol
The video editing probably took longer than the assembly of the machine itself, but it does pay off! Very captivating to watch! 👍
almost none of work and literally zero knowledge@@aviator267
It would be nice to see a video on how you design the things. :)
This, so much this. And a stream of him showing the process of designing a printer and / or CNC. Would be so helpful
Yeah id love to see how he and other people design their machines
Future video: 3D printed dust collector for the CNC.
Some printers later he build printer that can print planets.
Definitely
+how to melt it into OLA and extrude it into filament
One day he's gonna realize he has to build a large table too.
you mean print a large table
Ah yes. He must build a printer first that can print a new workbench on!
@@seanthompson6720 Great stuff you Guys make me me lauph
He doesn't use a table, so why would he need a large one?
He has some wood on top of 2 sawhorses.
@@deth3021 Simple your a man
That’s a huuuge CNC! Great project!
Where is the larger indymill video???ive been waiting
I prefer your CNC design cant wait to see a larger version. Not expecting it to happen due to alignment issues and $$$$$ as it gets larger but yeah :)
That plywood gear probably costs more than the machine with lumber prices lately
😂🤣
I don't know if in Spain prices have also skyrocketed
Aluminum prices have also skyrocketed so probably not, but it is an awesome machine regardless.
I was pricing up those aluminium posts a few weeks ago here in the UK, for 8 of them at 120cm was over £100 - i dread to thinmk how much those 6 or 8 footers cost!
Probably just order the extrusions from china, then use the the month it takes to get them to print all those large parts .. lol 😆
Would love to see a behind the scenes video, where you talk about the design process, and nerd out on the slicer settings and speed it takes to print some of these components
I´ve built myself 3 cnc machines, with mostly 3d printed parts and I´ve got to say you always amaze me with your way of approaching the most common problems you find in these machines, like bending in the gantries, specially this size. I find your mechanical skills pretty awesome, how you always find the way to maximize strength while keeping the thing as light as possible.
You´re the man Ivan, superb job!
It would be fantastic to see a vacuum add-on for this build! Great work as always!
amazing project Ivan! 😎👏
와... 쩔었다... 이 채널만큼 3D Printer의 가능성을 보여주는 채널이 없는듯
Wow... it was crazy... There seems to be no other channel that shows the potential of 3D printers as much as this one.
Finally you can make those big wooden spacers you did not know you needed.
I love to cut foamular board on my big CNC, great for props
I saw a video of a 3d styrofoam cutter... If you say great for props...
What props?
It’s one thing to build something like this, but to have also created the plans and visualising how it should be is quite amazing. Utterly amazing creation
Ivan this is nuts ! and bolts of course ! :) and spacers...
Amazing video again, keep having fun!
It’s insane how much work you have to do before printing, assembling… I’m really impressed !
Love the 80's music score!
Great to see you now share files like these! I always wanted to see how you design them in Fusion. :)
1:26 - Most. Expensive. Futon. Frame. Ever.
I absolutely loved this video, form the editing to the music it just goes to show you don't have to have a commentary to make a great video. I was gonna say that giant gear is perfect for a marble machine... then I checked you channel and saw you are in fact making a music machine! You've got me hooked and I've subscribed, can't wait for more vids
Ivan, you're the man! Keep doing what you're doing and do it big.
The king of timelaps. :)
Another great job Mr Miranda! Well done!
YOU ROCK MATE! thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏻
How did this get posted the very minute I searched for "Large 3d printed cnc"? Have I become one with the algorithm?
I got a message from YT with your search query and I published the video.
@@ivanmirandawastaken Haha, I wish that was how it worked. My software career would be so much easier.
Ivan thank you so much for this amazing video! I would be really interested in your design process and decisions. Not only for this project but other projects as well. And i think i'm not the only one interested. Keep on doing what you are doing! You are awesome and of course SPACERS! The only thing i missed this video was the screwdriver i mean hammer.
At this point you should build a standing Bridgeport CNC Mill
I've thought of that a couple of times already...
Awesome! I would love to see more then just the assembly and also see some of the design proces
What a FANTASTIC design!
this is rad, always a joy to see your latest projects.
This is the definition of craftsmanship - amazing work!
This is definition of joke, realy bad craftmanship.
loved the drill press shot with the bit coming towards the camera - all I could think was "I'll talk! I'll talk!"
Good fact, I always enjoy watching your videos,
you have a great pair of hands and a super creative thought...
it's definitely great fun to watch you! Continue like this, we'll meet in the next video!
wow, great job, Ivan . Your projects always surprise me. greetings from Chile
Amazing
Amazing work. Thank you for your efforts. Stay well.
That's amazing, great job!
So jealous of it 😻
Another awesome build once again!!
Very nice cnc router, light and large
It seems so easy seeing you putting things together.... But we foresee the amount of work behind the scene ! well done
That dude is way to crazy for this life!
from catalonia with love ... "ets el millor" ... "eres el mejor ... "you are the big one" ... "Hoberena zara" ... thanks for share your talent ... thanks for make us lough every project, every day, every screw ... much admiration for your project ... your productivity admires me a lot !!!!
Ivan, amazing work ! Indeed good use of 3d printing technology
This is my favorite side of insanity! Keep rockin'!
Hey Ivan, I hold my breath for a second when you cut Makita's power cord. Fabulous as always!
Awesome, and I so want to follow in your footsteps. But all that effort and no dust collection. An interesting choice.
When Ivan needs to cut giant gears it means that there is some awesome project ahead 😍
Your builds are always amazing. You are a very talented man.
All of his builds are bullshits. Just to gain views. From zero to negative talent.
I love your videos and wish nothing but great things for you and your channel! You deserve it.
I just got a e-mail from eBAy, "We are all out of 2020's. Ivan Miranda bought them all!!" :) Awesome job! Love it! :)
I made a video about a VU meter 3D printed from scratch and it felt like a huge acomplishement, until I saw this. Now I feel ashamed of myself lol. Insane and awesome project, great camera work, superb editing, this video is just perfect! Felicitaciones Ivan! Tienes uno de los mejores canales de YT!
Cada día más impresionado. Hoy precisamente estaba pensando en hacerme algo parecido para un proyecto que tengo en mente. Muchas felicidades.
Gracias!
You always do things BIG :D Amazing !!
That's cool and great background as Usual
OMG!
amazing!!!
you make it look sooooooo easy to build!!!
What a unit! Still not sure what is more fun - the assembling or seeing it in action.
Hey Ivan, if I might make a suggestion, consider investing in a set of counterbore bits - these are the boring bits designed to feed into drilled holes and cut wider, flat-bottomed openings to clear the heads of cap-head screws. (Not to be confused with countersink bits - a counterBORE bit cuts a flat-bottomed hole for use with screws with flat mount faces on their heads while a counterSINK cuts an angled hole for screws with angled head faces) Using a counterbore bit after drilling will allow you to place the screw heads inside the frame against the center of the extrusion instead of having heads and washers sticking out from its surface, which will make for a cleaner look and also prevent having potential "catch" points along the perimeter. (It'll also prevent distorting the outsides of the extrusions' profiles when the screws are tightened down.)
Looks awesome Ivan! Can't wait to see all the BIG things you make with parts cut from your CNC!
OMG Ivan you are fast @ 3:33 😁 But seriously, I like how you show everything and "speedskip" the boring parts in a musical synchronous way. You are the Master of Edit, and a damn nice Maker and inventor too ! I Love it !
This channel never fails to amaze me :)
"This CNC router did cost me $925 to build." pretty good cost for a machine this big!
Thanks a lot IVAN for being out there consider me to be your patreon !!! :)
Lots of
Ivan Miranda, you should make a full one hour episode on how you should set up a 3d printer and cnc machine motherboard + stepper motor control module and how to intergrade (download) he software.and how to change the conversation on printing and milling size.
Thanks for all the videos you do they inspire me to build things from scratch.
Awesome build! May I suggest that you make a bracket attachment to the CNC drill head and attach your vacuum to it, that way you don't have to manually vacuum after the head.
Bigger is betterer... Great stuff you made, Sir.
Big, bigger, Ivan. I love it.
Love the builds, really good work....
Thanks!
Beautiful idea
Did I just watch one of your videos without a single spacer involved???? Looks great love your builds. 👍
Un trabajo impresionante! Saludos Iván.
You are a god among makers Ivan.
Love your editing its amazing!!!!!
Every time, I got mad with you because the time between your videos is too much. Then you publish some of amazing. I love so much.
Well done Ivan 👍
Great work as usual, 45 degree frame braces under the bed would allow for cutting stuff through the printer on the ground or engrave concrete floors or tiles or whatever, frame looks sturdy enough to handle not having so many center profiles
Vaya pasada!! Eres un crack!! Enhorabuena
You can help interference a bit by wrapping your cables in aluminium foil and/or adding ferrite cores to the main cables, especially the router.
Also I don’t know what control system you have set up but CNC.js has made my life a lot easier!
Very cool. But instead of chasing the router around with a vacuum hose, maybe add an attachment that will automatically bring a dust collection hose along for the ride.
Me: I wonder what those band-aids are fr-
Ivan: * spins wooden gear around his bare hand *
Me: ah
Love the video editing!
You got some amazing skills sir, mr spacers
Simply incredible!!!
Entertaining and lots of good points. Wrapping the 3DP parts with carbon fiber tow + epoxy could improve stiffness (for higher feeds), like what's done on bicycles. Also strengthening the top X span.
Nice build! I look forward to building my first CNC machine when I get the Time/Money, it's going to be something similar to this- I mainly want to CNC wood and a build like this seems perfect.
I'm always checking out your projects they are all awesome ... I want to own one like your 3d printer but my budget is too tight... lots of plans in building things in mind... I hope one day I could have one or even used ones
You are the true meaning of a maker , so inspiring , i hope you get to million subs soon
Omg! This is way better than the DIY Maslow CnC I bought a few months ago. I still have it in the garage waiting to be put together. I am going to see if I can use any of those pieces to build this instead!
Wow this is amazing! I must admit there was a moment there where I thought it was Wintergatan Wednesday :)
Been watching you for a few years now, wondered why it is that i havent built my self a 3d Printer or CNC yet as you make it look so interesting and fun think the reason is that i dont have my own space but i do remember once you working under the stairs so i have no excuse :( thanks
I'm going to have to build a tiny one so you have no excuse at all 😉
@@ivanmirandawastaken you and tiny those are some weird combinations you make XD
I know that feeling. Used to build all sorts of stuff until I moved to a smaller flat… been trying to find a garage or workshop I can rent with some friends but the market is dead.
Haha! I can, I don't often, but I can.
It would be pretty funny to print your smallest 3D printer using your biggest one.
4:34 One thing i'd change, is make the tensioners non-static on the carriage. A simple spring shim stock can make the wheels adjust dynamically rather than force the belt at all times. This is common place technology for large printers. And as you know, those require precision as well. This is more of a long term thing, as it doesn't wear the belt as much as a static tensioner does, nor does it put as much force on the frame, which is not the correct way (none of the industrial precision machines i've been inside of has ever been drum tight as most forums suggest). Just my 2 cents.
hey what do you mean by this exactly? where does the spring shim stock live? I get your point about the tension but can't picture what you are describing just yet... Hope you can help!
Awesome job, you have a lot of good projects, keep up the great work. Maybe a 3D printer this size soon?
Very nice you always make it entertaining.
Bro what a crazy engineer you are just take a step back and look what you made LOL! insaneeeee!!!!! respect on all languages!:D
I had the power supply for the spindle mess with my stepper controller too! I put a ferrite ring on each of the wires coming from the speed controller.... No problems since!
Wow amazing project
That's awesome! You should also make a huge laser cutter next!
Absolutly amazing !!!
Thanks brother!!
THAT is really cool. I wanna build this thing.
The amount of work you put in and you're only selling the design for $25, I'm going to purchase them to support whatever you have planned next. Thanks!
Eres el heroe de la gente pobre de Latinoamérica. Tus maquinas son baratas, faciles de construir con poca herramienta, ligeras y hacen el trabajo.
