I always love how the staff he walks past looks fucking TERRIFIED as soon as they notice Rudeus legit pissed off. They gotta realize how insane this guy is, and he's *always* calm and proper. So seeing him mad has to carry strong "the gentle giant just stopped laughing" energy.
there is a part of the NL that they skip here and explain really well how norm feels: (Norn POV): "Was it just me, or was he really nervous? That reminded me of my dad too. “…” My brother fell silent again. He just sat there quietly, not moving an inch. He was watching me anxiously, but he didn’t budge from that chair. My dad probably would have wrapped his arms around me by now, and Ruijerd would have patted me on the head. But my brother didn’t even approach me. “Oh.” Suddenly, I understood why. He couldn’t approach me. He was too scared I might reject him. The instant that thought occurred to me, I felt all my negative emotions begin to melt away. I didn’t hate Rudeus anymore. I couldn’t find him scary either. He was too much like my dad. He was never going to hit me, no matter what. And he probably wasn’t ever going to hit my dad again either. “Sniff…” I needed to forgive him.
Almost every reactor to this ep of mushoku seemed to not understand rudys comments in the classroom relating to his own experience(they just go why is he saying these crazy things) then also get confused when they hear earth rudeus voice at norns room thinking theres a man in there or something. Glad you two picked up on both of these immediately, shows you're paying attention I also want to point out that besides the obvious that people compare rudy and norn and dont see her for herself etc, norn was also upset at the fact that the person she hates so much seemed to have so much praise and recognition from everyone around her, which confused her perception of rudy
It's great how the episode starts with Rudeus being fuming mad and the footsteps sounded fitting that mood. 0:50 Yeah, he definitely looks like Paul here. He's straddling the line between big bro and papa bear. 3:35 Well, Rudeus has been shown since episode 2 of the whole show to be able to simultaneously cast magic not only as combined magic, but separate spells. But this is the first time we see him do it with such precision. 5:30 it's too bad nobody could find the right words to convince him to come out. You have to understand that with depression brain pretty much everything you're told is turned to be points against you. "Others have it worse than you" is minimizing his suffering, in that the pain he's going through isn't valid because someone else has worse circumstances, which makes him feel even worse, that not only does he carry pain, he's also at the same time being an imposter who's been found out and called out for it. "Just cheer up" means you're too lazy to meet expectations others are placing or that those expectations are overinflated and you've been set up to fail. "You can't keep this up forever" is simply a falsehood, since ___ kept it up until he died. "There's so much to do outside" means not only are you neglecting those things, which is bad, you're accruing a debt of demerits for having neglected those things for some time, which is worse, so covering that debt is already insurmountable. One clip of Jordan Peterson giving a model of the thought process is hauntingly accurate: "I can't do this little thing right. I can't do anything right. I'm a bad person. I should die." 6:15 the event was even more shocking as she was coming to see Paul to continue telling him about the nice bald man who'd helped her from a fall and gave her an apple. From experiencing kindness from a stranger to seeing another stranger beating on the most important person in her life. Not only that, afterwards everyone sang that boy's praises as if that beating had never happened. Aisha's arrival made it worse in that she was always the genius who was on a mission to prove she was better than Norn. Which only led to further scolding by her grandmother for letting a bastard maid get the better of a noble-born young lady. 6:55 they skipped that little row they had when they first arrived, but she was afraid Rudeus would hit her when he told the girls to stop fighting. 7:55 She was supposed to have a fresh start away from Rudeus among people who didn't know him, Norn, or Aisha. Instead she can't escape his shadow, no matter where she turns. This strong and unpredictable man who beat their father is being praised everywhere she goes. And a genius sibling against whom her own performance constantly gets compared. 8:30 Marissa is a demon. Rudeus had told Norn to be nice to her despite their racial differences, since Norn was partly raised by her segregationist grandmother. Norn admits that she would've been more discriminatory if she hadn't known Ruijerd. 9:05 I love how they shot this part. That corner of an endless room becoming ever more distant while the season 1 OST associated with loss is playing in the background. 10:20 In the book he tried to connect with Norn, but mostly just sat there silently for an indeterminate amount of time. Hearing him almost breaking here is a moving touch. He's having at least as vulnerable of a moment here as she is. 10:25 this moment in volume 11 always tears me up. 10:40 peak VA moment. Aww, didn't you spot the next episode title? :>
@@nikm3rDidn't think about that, but interessting fact thank you. But then I have to say I like the english titel a bit more than the original one even if it is technically less accurate, but that's just my ipinion.
The first impression is really important, Once you give bad first impression they will thinking about you in negative way all the time, because they think you're a bad guy when they first saw you. And its hard to admit it someone was kind when the first impression when you doing something bad.
the character development of this episode its so fucking HUGE, bro, its a real shame that ppl cant enjoy this because they quit of mushoku when seen rudy trying to touch eris...its a real shame that ppl drop mushoku because of that
This is the episdoe which made me think that mushoku tensei is the best isekai... Which links the old world things and make it still relevant to current plot line and deals with so much detail as well. Ofc if there are any other isekai similar to this, plz reply. J do wanna watch other isekais that has same relevancy with old world as well as deep plot line.
Episodes like this are what makes Mushoku so special

Love that the titel of the episode is applicable to both norne and Rudeus in his old life.
In Japanese they use Aniki, which is the way Rudy called his brother, Norn uses oniisan.

One of the best episodes 😢👌🏽
I hate new norm. I want the old norm. I want normal beer
Probably my favorite episode of this season (and there are some real highlights still to come)
Episodes like this make it hard for me to decide if Re:Zero or Mushoku is better.
*Peak!*
Both
No need to compare, both are absolute masterpieces

those who get filtered likely wouldn't appreciate these moments anyway.
Now I need someone to draw the shot used in the thumbnail, but with Norm from Phineas and Ferb
