30 euros for games widely available for many years, and no mouse? 15 dollars the FULL collection at Steam, plus remasters. And the reforged version will be released this year.... great value, are we going crazy here? 😂
I think the price is just fine - Evercade cartridges have always been generally higher than the cost of downloading something off Steam (or getting an Anbernic handheld or something similar with a thousand illegally obtained roms for that matter) - if you want it cheaper and can get it another way / don’t care if it’s on an Evercade cart, go for it. But if you want it in Evercade the carts just cost what they cost
Since Evercade is about nostalgia, these graphic adventures were localised to different languages (voices and text) like the Lucas Arts ones. If these games came now only in English... an important part of our nostalgia will be missing... that's all. So I understand people not buying this collection for this reason.
I was just thinking the same thing - Monkey Island 3 or the remaster of 1 would be so cool - especially it if they could be tailored to run well on the Evercade and the d-pad. A lot of the lucasArts games would be great or they were optimized for the hardware - Day of the tentacle, Grim Fanango, Indiana Jones, etc.
Love these games, really looking forward to playing them again. Not sure I even played the 2nd one. They work perfectly OK with a controller and for £20 they are a bargain. Who would have predicted these in the early Evercade Days? Ok you got me.
Thanks for the video to learn a bit more about this series. This and the other dual carts for PS1 games jogged my memory for what could be another great dual card on Evercade: how about Fear Effect 1&2? Really fun games, especially if you want more of the old tank controls (that was a frustrating part for me though).
Fear Effect 1 and 2 is possible.. though honestly not sure I want to play them again. They were striking obviously but tough as heck. Pretty grim and horrible as well. I did complete both, but have never returned to them again.
Thanks for the review and thinks for bringing up / explaining that the controls won’t be an issue - I posed this question on a few Evercade FB groups and didn’t really get an answer. I haven’t played these games before and I like point and click games (I played tons of them as a kid) and these in particular look interesting to me, but often on console point and clicks the controls just are painfully cumbersome and slow and kind of frustrating for me.
@@canurse8924 The controls won't be a problem. I'm sure you will genuinely enjoy this considering you like the genre. You get really immersed into the characters and game. Absolutely brilliant titles.
Great video, and great job highlighting and addressing a couple of the initial reactions in the community. I've noticed demands for analog support as well, accompanied sometimes with the insistence that the games will be otherwise unplayable. That's an odd one, I think. The development of both of these games, along with a decent chunk of the other PS1 games available on Evercade, predated the release of the Dualshock controller. Since analog control wasn't a thing yet, support within the games isn't present. There's ways around that in the emulation, but it'll still be digital input. The dpad was a workable control for these games back in the day, outside of a few poorly done games. It just seems like an odd place for a metaphorical line in the sand. If the game originally supported the feature, it should be in there for sure. If it's not, any attempt at implementation would be weak at best without a native port instead of emulation.
Never played this the 1st time round so will be looking forward to preordering this. I guess when it comes to owning the originals the Evercade version will be better value. £24.99 isn't a lot for 2 games. Also this might end up pushing people towards the later instalments on PS2 & beyond. Which is what Evercade is all about , value and discovery. Like the humour & while P&C isn't my thing, I reckon this would be a great way to start to get into the genre. I have these style of games on other platforms but, they rarely get a go. Maybe this will kick start my enjoyment of then. Great video as always.
@Nicadeemas There is great port of ScummVM to Linux and the console is Linux-based, so it could be technologically possible. Some of the natively running games became the most successful on the system, so who knows?
In the discord announcements section there are already 60 Spanish flags in the broken sword. If you raise the price and release this without your language, users will no longer be so permissive. Thanks for the video.
Th iOS app store looks a good option for these games as well (£5 each for the remastered versions). I expect they’d play well on a tablet or phone with a large enough screen. Still a decent looking evercade cart if people want a physical copy and/ or the original versions.
Most liked announcement of Evercade official FB posts to date by a margin. That should give you at least a temperature check. Watch this one sell out in the coming months.
Great games, but I already have them on other devices and can’t see me wanting to play on Alpha. Then again have full collection. Not sure I can justify another £250+ worth of carts every year, might stick to Indie and arcade.
Great video and the voice or reason as always :-) Being a big fan of the PC versions back in the day it'll be cool to play the GOG remastered versions. I'm sure they'll play just fine on the Evercade and will be enhanced on the VS/VS-R if the analogue controls are enabled. I'll be skipping this cart but the games come highly recommended. Keep up the awesome work!
@@waynetemplar2183 lol, but that doesn't change the fact they all speak in english. Some crazy reactions indeed. I am not paying PS5pro prices for a decent all purpose steam deck, just to get these games a bit cheaper. That is the worst value possible on a cost to play ratio. An Evercade with these d-pad controls on a cost to play ratio is infinitely better value for portable play. Great video.
