- No2 of my 20x20 fails. My attempt to do a raffle piece for the FAE gala dinner end of May in Asheville was a tough one. I decided to show you the fails because they're awesome up until the end. I learned a lot and gathered lots of inspiration and ideas.

📌 THE SPINNER I'm using is my own design and creation. Every single work step is done by my hands and my table saw (operated by me)

DISCLAIMER: It's a tool for serious artists, I always recommend getting a small , cheaper spinner to try if spinning is your thing first. After you've tried other versions, I promise you'll appreciate this guy over all of them if you work with big heavy canvasses and you spin all the time, like me.

📌 My POURING MEDIUM
Behr Dynasty deep base semi-gloss and minwax polycrylic (roughly 3:1) from Home depot
And thinning to the right consistency with JoSonja gloss varnish (Dick blick, jerrys artsarama or Fluidart.co)

📌 The magic juice/Cell activator is mixed with australian floetrol. (1:1)

Pretty cool composition! And I’m not such a big fan of the color palette, but it works on this piece! Wish you’d have kept it…has a very eerie and ethereal feeling, even looks like a head in the lower left. I surely wouldn’t consider the final piece a fail! Enjoy your time back home!

Maybe use more paint. You don’t have to use it all. But the more paint the more weight and the faster and better it flows

Thanks for teaching us while you are learning! And playing! Am I right to think there is also no focus point? I like those colours, but me myself would not have chosen the black with it. I know you always say it helps with the contrast but the colours are so bright on white.

Quick question. Is there an advantage or large difference between spinning a piece of art versus tiliting in different directions.
@@richardchapple4422 absolutely. The spinning helps expanding your composition equally. While tilting helps adding a direction. I usually use a combination of both

I have a question... Do you ever find yourself holding your breath while you are manipulating the paint? I noticed the very serious look on your face during this video. The other day I caught myself holding my breath several times while playing in the paint. Was just wondering if other artists caught themselves doing that too.
