Rufinus, a 20-year-old Asmat, just caught a cassowary bird in order to become a real man, in the traditional way of his people. As he got back from his hunting session, now it’s time to prepare the bird’s meat, and get ready for the next Asmat ritual…

Si ! j’ai connu les grandes sauterelles jaunes (« crevettes du sud » comme ils disaient…) ça pond des Milliers d’œufs par semaines il en sort des Criquets 🦗🦗🦗 qui « bouffent » tout le végétal même l’écorce des arbustes ! plus rien à manger pour nous ! on les chassait en tapant sur des casseroles mais ça revenait hhhhhhhhh ! 😢 on se vengeait en les mangeant comme les crevettes … . 🦐 ça n’a pas le même goût et c’est un peu plus dur. 😮

I don’t find them terrifying by looking at their faces. I find them incredibly interesting & would love to see them in person. I love other cultures & how they weave their beliefs, knowledge & language into the “fabric of Life”. Hope they don’t get wiped out by others.

Mereka juga punya perasaan ingin hidup sama dengan manusia lainnya dimuka bumi ini, bercelana panjang , berjas dan berdasi. Jangan sampai kita berdalih mempertahankan adat istiadat suku Asmat, untuk menarik wisatawan asing , agar devisa negara meningkat, sungguh pemikiran begini bagaikan menjajajah bangsa sendiri dengan alasan melestarikan budaya bangsa. Pada dasarnya manusia itu diciptakan sama memiliki indra yang sama ( panca indra) kalau kena terik sinar matahari ya panas, kalau kena hujan angin topan ya kedinginan. Jangan mengeruk keuntungan pada kesengsaraan sama sama makhluk Tuhan. Ayokita berfikir manusiawi dengan penuh kesadaran tinggi sesama manusia.

@@nkd5981 A long time ago , back in early sixties, I worked with Dillinham corporation on the road construction between Goroka and kainantu , Eastern Highlands . That was my first time in Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 and loved every minute of life there . CRA (RIO TINTO ) exploration , Kennecott exploration , so close to West Papua boarder .At one part of the great Fly River the boarder is in the middle of it . Even worked in Port Moresby with Tat Brian ., but preferred the jungle life . Never ever shall I forget the buildings (some of them) in the capital of New Britain Rabul damaged by the Japanese during the second war .Mango Avenue ! Yes Mango Avenue and Cosmos hotel , had a swimming pool. Getting old and forget some names. A beach baron air plane crashed on top of a mountain that was 500 feet higher than one the map . the passengers were employed by a sesmyc French company , looking for oil, I think
Flew as one of the observers for three days looking for a crash site . Crash site was located by another airplane ,a Dornier ,I think
I flew out of Kiunga in a Cessna two engine plane , pull- Push .one engine in the front, and one in the rear of the aircraft. The crashed plane was just flying about touching the top of the trees (,, foggy weather) and then came to test in the middle of a huge tree .took lots of photos , while flying around the site , but destroyed them soon after been diveloped . WHAT A LIFE 🌴🐍🐍🌏🐊🐊🐸

Thanks for sharing this experience. But how is it possible that they manage to live in a sustainable way with nature and the rest of us could not? These societies are far more sustainable and in harmony with nature. Perhaps simplicity is important.
they take what they need from nature, over here companys deplete everything for profit
Their population does not increase because they do not get any medical treatment for any diseases or accidents because there are no hospitals. So, their average life span is very less, and their death rate is same as birth rate. So, their population does not increase and they are able to live in equilibrium with nature. Also, they are hunter gatherers and do not do any agriculture. They are ready to live without any electricity or electric appliances, running tap water, water tank or water pump. They do not need any cooking gas , electric cooker, microwave etc.

They are hunter gatherers and do not do any agriculture. So, they do no need tractors or any kind of agricultural machines.. They do not need any cooking gas , electric cooker, microwave etc. Are modern people ready to live without these things. If people stop buying, companies will stop production.
