Holy crap I didn't think you (or anyone else in great detail) would ever talk about this game. (I'm curious about your thoughts on P3 Reload, especially since I can't find civil discussion on it's flaws atm lol) I still can't get over how it felt like there's so much left on the cutting room floor (particularly with it's story), yet still so much crap to do in it just for it's gameplay. You can make your characters some of the most broken in ARPG out there while also having the most obtuse or sadistic challenges the game itself proposes (Lv.1 Final Boss in a game where you can't turn off exp of course). The story easily presents new concepts just as fast as it moves on from them while every main character has the most understated reactions to everything. I was surprised when I got to 4D and how every character took it maybe a little too well, but what the game was saying by the point was pretty clear even if it sorta came out of nowhere (like i guess the Vendeeni didn't matter as much as I thought?). Also why call it STAR OCEAN when almost EVERY game you're stuck on "medieval planet"? I can go on but I think you hit plenty of nails on the head.
Yeah the main reason I made a video about this game was because I had a lot of little interesting bits to talk about and literally nobody else has made an in depth video on it as far as I'm aware. I think it's worth giving games like these credit where it's due and I know fans of them usually appreciate some sort of coverage like that. On a different topic, P3R is fine, I just think as a remake it's really safe, boring, and worse in a lot of other ways, yet it'll still get touted as the best way to play the game simply because the gameplay is easier to digest. Like it's fine that others like it or if it was their first exposure to P3, but it's incredibly stupid that for a year I had to hear about how the original was peak fiction and then suddenly people start shitting on it after reload came out because the remake lets you control your party members (even though the AI in the original was mostly fine if you actually engaged with the tactics menu, and ironically the AI options in Reload are worse lmao). I could go on, but point is original Persona 3 is a very flawed yet one of a kind experience you can't get from any other RPG, meanwhile Reload can be easier to stomach in some instances, but sacrifices the original's identity in a ton of ways so that mainstream audiences will like it.
@@Luggician I've noticed alot of the weird backlash on the original too after Reload, at least especially around the release of course. Though there was one review that put Reload in a way I found interesting: "Persona 3 Reload is the best way to play Persona 3's worst version", that being it's original vanilla release, but that review was also before we had any idea that The Answer was gonna be DLC. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts! 🤘
I've played through the remakes of the first two Star Ocean games and I still don't really know what I should think of this series. The stories feel incredibly undercooked and the gameplay is probably the most broken I've seen in any JRPG. The simplest reasonn I have for not really gelling with Star Ocean though is because the games always felt like "the Tales of series but worse". But anyway, great video as always!
this game seems like your bipolar partner who has zero genuine lines of communication with you yet expects an answer to all their problems
Luther was an underdevelopped villain but his voice acting was killing it !

Same with ff6 for me.Bad story, bland characters and esper system is awful.
Using Ori weapons breaks the game regardless of which characters you use. You don't need Maria.
ohohohoho
if only you knew how bad things really were, it actually gets a lot more busted than ori weapons
