I think, more than the standard versions of the UBW theme, this one sounds more like Archer than any other. It just sounds like all the crap Archer went through, all the sacrifices he had to make, and all the conviction he struggled to hold onto in order to be a hero. Archer's a fucking role model.

Makes sense. This was made back when the only Fate you could get from Garcher is from the anime, the OG VN, and F/HA, F/Z was thrown in years later at BMW Act 4. Nothing else to 'dilute' the OG-ness.

This may be the "main" route leading to Archer, as in that same route Archer mentions that this time he may be able to stop certain events that occur in no other route from happening.

There is no finished Illya route out there, not even an old script or anything. There are many rumors that Archer is from the 'Illya Route' though, even though it was not in the VN.
I love how, as of Fate/Extra and Fate/Grand Order this EMIYA is now referred to simply as "Nameless" since they decided to make Counter-Guardian Kiritsugu a thing as "EMIYA" (He is a summonable Assassin class servant in /Grand Order)

Second, Emiya's entire problem was that he didn't make a name for himself, broad strokes personification does not work that way. Look at Alice. And third, if he was a personification he wouldn't be able to use UBW because he wouldn't be Shirou and UBW is Shirou Emiya's world.

@TheGreatCandyman Probably. It's so depressing that the game didn't come full circle though. Watching shirou grow and become stronger and more mature for each route. Starting from an annoy naive kid living by his ideals, then to a stubborn teen overcoming his doubts and acting based on his ideals, then finally to someone who places other people above his ideals (which is still his ego/pride if i'm correct), but no route where he would knowingly sacrifice himself for others. @_@
@nejiharuno nasu did say in an interview that the most likely shirou to become archer was fate shirou but even then the possibility was less than 10%. you will have to go to one of the fansites to find the interview though i don't have it with me

Because it is the only route of the three where Shirou keeps his Ideal of being a hero (He paradoxically decides to remain one but not become Garcher in UBW, and gives it up for Sakura in Heaven's Feel). Thus technically after the war, Shirou, with his mind set on becoming a hero would train etc. leading up to his beocming Archer.
Yeah, the end that leads to Shirou becoming Archer is the bad end called Mind of Steel, in the Heaven's Feel route, when you pick to kill Sakura. Saber had already been killed at that point too.
@GM1188 I agree with you to some extent. I think archer is shirou unable to break free of the chains of the past from heaven's feel route and chose to stick with his ideal and become kiritsugi. Shirou overcomes his childhood ideals in heaven's feel route and breaks free of his intended "fate" and decides his own, an act archer failed to accomplish. But archer's unyielding perseverance and his iron hearted selflessness is still GAR and I think thats what people like about him. ^_^
for one shirou was going to die anyways whether he traced excalibur or something else. archer could trace excalibur and use it (he said he would die but that was because saber would have used the original as well) but the traced excalibur would be incomplete all in all there is a chance for athena's blades
@nejiharuno which other shirous? all the ones that came from fate stay night never made the pact with the world. the whole difference between becoming archer or not is the very fact that archer made a pact with the world which was probably to proyect the full reality marble by himself to save ppl he couldn't otherwise.
@HeroEmiya he's right you should begin with the anime .... cause you will be disapointed if you see the anime after the Novel .... not that the anime is bad ... but it just can't be as GREAT as the visual novel ... like everything else .... ho and be prepared, cause the Novel is about 100 Hours long
@SilimsLetsPlays No, if you watch the "Talk" between Illya and Taiga in the bonus scene after completing all paths (including all bad ends), they will tell you that Heaven's Feel was suppose to split into IIlya's or Sakura's route depending on the choice you make during the talk with Illya in the park (the scene where Shirou makes his decision to throw away his ideals for Sakura). I assume the choice that got taken out is choosing to keep his ideas, leading to the Illya path.
@CenturyBlade Looking at his psychological maturity derived from his inner thoughts, behaviors, reactions, and understandings; though mostly from understandings. I could be wrong but looks like in Fate he's ignorant to the situation and would constantly get everyone screwed trying to cover for him as he constantly demands shit be done his method. In UBW he has a stronger grasp of reality and realizes it's conflicts with his ideals, but feels that his ideals(Ego) is more important than reality.

It's always amazing to see Archer's abilities, but the character is incredibly hateful and short-sighted. It would've been nice to see the guy after the end of UBW, just to witness a positive version of Archer.
Can't blame him tho. The very actions he took, and the consequences of them, he personally experienced all of them, and they can't be said to be pretty either. It's natural that he came to be like that IMO. I mean, he knows Shirou and his broken mentality the most. He also only came up with the plan to eliminate Shirou after he confirms his thoughts and actions in the war. Yes, he is hateful, but for good reason. If you are trapped in eternal torture, of course you would harbor resentment for the thoughts and actions leading to such situation, no? It's possible that the archer of fate route is post UBW. Considering the fact that he actively gives shiro advice. He still acts coldly because archer would have only gotten a written report so he understands that he's accepted himself. That my headcannon anyway.
Well, you want a more positive version of Archer, see Nameless in Fate/Extra series. His past is similar but not the same. There's also Archer EMIYA in Grand Order where he's more positive, and is basically a mother to everyone. Even cooks for everyone too.
GAR is the complete and utter emasculation you feel when faced with an anime character who's seeps pure testosterone in their final moments/constantly. Examples of GAR: Kenshiro, Kamina, Guts, Kujo Jotaro.
