Note to all the people commenting saying its not called dragon its called Loong (with two o’s). In English we call it Dragon or Chinese Dragon to distinguish from the Western Dragon. We do not call it Long. If you want to suggest people call it Long, that is fine, and hey maybe it will catch on, I have no problem if it does. But we are just using the word that is in use in English right now, which is Dragon or Chinese Dragon to distinguish from Western Dragons. I don't think that is disrespectful like some are saying, words can have broad meanings, it doesn't mean we are saying Chinese Dragons are evil.
Please respect the Chinese way of defining the Chinese Loong. For too long, the West has been full of arrogance, racism, and western centrism, which are all reflected in your remarks.
So you didn't know that Loong is NOT a recently created word? What is wrong with a coordinated campaign? It is okay for USA/South Korea/Vietnam to launch a coordinated campaign to change Chinese New Year to Lunar New Year. But when China launch a coordinated campaign to use the correct name Loong, it becomes weird. You may need to reflect your own hypocrisy.
no you are absolutely wrong. Chinese Phoenix is another mistranslation, Phoenix is a fire bird, more like 朱雀(red bird) which stands for a holy bird of the south. 凤凰(feng huang, Chinese Phoenix) is the king or leader of all birds, kind of playing the same role of Loong for all land animals.

Water in Chinese culture means silver or wealth. Chinese dragon in most cases is coming with water. So this also means Chinese dragon represents a sign with fortune.
Water more stands for good climate and harvest, only indirectly linked with wealth, but much more with people's living conditions. And 龙 in charge of those most important items that affect people's living, is actually a symbol for supreme power, be it natural power or political one or else, thus it extended to the meaning of royal lineage and representation of the whole country and ethnicity.
@@tonyyang855and Fenghuang stand for the sun, another very important factor determining whether there would be a bountiful harvest or any harvest at all. Together with the Long who stand for the rain, they have absolutely control over the life of mere mortals, and thus are worshipped as supreme deities.
The dragon is considered a symbol of power, authority, and good fortune in Chinese culture. It is often associated with the emperor and was used as an imperial symbol.
You are right. But specifically, it was the first emperor Qin Shihuang who started this close association of emperor to dragon. Before him, leaders in China used a lot more variety of symbols to indicate they have authority from the heavens. As heaven has no distinct form, different kings would use different symbols in a way very similar to the European coat of Arms. Not sure if its by chance or choice, but the Qin Kings of the Zhou used the dragon as their symbol of authority. So when the Qin king united China and became first Emperor, he basically did a marketing campaign of putting dragons on anything imperial. And on the reverse, he also banned the use of the specific types of dragons he used by anyone else. After the Qin fell, the dragons got lucky that the next dynasty founder Liu Bang was a commoner with no family "symbol". Liu Bang therefore just continued the use of the dragon as the imperial symbol to show he is the rightful heir to the imperial power of China. And because the Han Dynasty stuck for so long.... the association with dragons became a permanent symbol of the emperor.
Interestingly, the dragons are reflections of the mindsets and foreign policies of both sides: one is about destruction, guarding what’s mine but destroy yours; the other is about gentleness and bringing fortune and luck to the world!
Hahahaha! The ancient Chinese were not about gentleness and bringing fortune and luck to the world. Go read about them. As far as I remember, they were tough and mean. No empire survived on "good vibes." Peoples that we're broken off from the Roman empire and the Germanic/Slavic tribes were the same. So were the African tribes.

They should be though of as different creatures and not counterparts. They actually barely have any features in common, other than resembling giant flying reptiles (the Loong has aspects of multiple animal kingdoms: fish, eagle, lion, snake, etc). It’s like the difference between an anaconda and a crocodile. Very clearly different animals.
Even their behaviors are vastly different since western dragona are mostly depicter as beasts with a human like greed while eastern behave more like divine beings
I think the early translators made a mistake. Chinese dragons and Western dragons are not the same thing. The Chinese dragon should have its own name. According to the Chinese pronunciation, it should be called "long".
@@_martian101 No, no, no, when you say Asia, do you mean East Asia? I don't know much about other countries, but the dragons here in East Asia are essentially Chinese dragons. The Chinese dragon has been a symbol of the emperor more than 3,000 years ago. The Chinese dragon gradually formed a strict hierarchy in China's ancient imperial power system. The dragon with 5 claws represents the only emperor, and the king's should have 4 claws. The Chinese dragon is not a creature in China, it is a god, a representative of "Heaven", and the son of "Heaven". It represents "Heaven" coming to the world and managing the world. Therefore, the emperor has another name, "Son of Heaven". When the gods see the emperor, they must show a certain degree of respect and cannot manage the emperor or name him. Otherwise, it is against the will of "Heaven". Heaven is the will to run this world, the law of existence in the universe, and the existence beyond the gods. It has no physical image. The gods must also obey the will of "Heaven". Except for a few very, very ancient gods, they transcended this world, jumped out of this "cage", and no longer had to obey the will of "Heaven". Of course, the mythological system here is very complicated, and many things are difficult for even us to explain clearly, unless we are those who study it in depth.
@@_martian101 This topic is huge and complex. But the Chinese dragon is definitely not the Western dragon. This is a very obvious and huge mistake. I don’t know who the translator was at that time and what he thought. Similarly, the phoenix of the West is definitely not the phoenix of China(凤feng凰huang). China has several divine birds with the power of fire. The phoenix is the king of birds, commanding all feathered birds, and is also a god. And 凤凰 is two kinds of birds, 凤 is a male bird and 凰 is a female bird, but people gradually put them together. There are also two sacred birds, one is called the 朱(zhu)雀(que), which is one of the four sacred beasts in China .It guards the south and controls the flames. The other is the Golden Crow, which represents the sun and possesses its flames. Therefore, Phoenix = 凤凰 is also a very big mistake. They all deserve their own unique names because they are unique beings. This will be more rigorous and not cause cognitive confusion to others.
Once upon a time, there was a dragon kingdom. Within the kingdom, there are four major tribes: fire dragon (the destroyer), water dragon (the unpredictable one), earth dragon (the hermit one) and the wind dragon (the invisible one).

According to who? The oxford English dictionary? If you say the Chinese government then that is only “official” for you. As Westerners the Chinese government does not decide how we use our language, so it is not official for us. But hey maybe if enough people start saying it, it will catch on, so who knows. But as of now it is not the case.
@@learnchinesenow The responsibility of the Chinese government-specifically, the Language and Information Management Division of the Ministry of Education of China-is to standardize the Chinese language, not English, thus rendering your concerns redundant. I admit my earlier statement might not have been precise enough; my intention was to highlight that during this year's Spring Festival, Chinese official media uniformly adopted "Loong" as the English translation for "龙" in various activities and promotional materials. This action by the government primarily serves the purpose of cultural promotion. I concur with your assertion that language usage largely evolves naturally, yet it is undeniable that during certain historical periods, dominant cultures exert considerable influence on linguistic evolution. Lastly, setting aside all considerations, from an academic standpoint, the shared usage of a single vocabulary by totems with entirely different connotations and symbols is inherently inappropriate. Therefore, personally, I support the use of "Loong" to denote the "Chinese dragon."
Sure. But i don’t think you understand how engrained the word Dragon is in the minds of westerners. You have iconic Chinese movies like Bruce Lee’s “Enter the Dragon” “Way of the Dragon” etc… you can tell people to call it Long all you want, but I seriously doubt people will adopt that. Obviously when we are speaking Chinese we call it 龍. But when we speak English we use a word from our own language, not just Pinyin.
@@learnchinesenow Thank you for your response. Your words affirm my viewpoint as well. The reason why those movies have traditionally used "Dragon" as the translation for the Chinese dragon is because Western culture has been dominant for centuries and has held relatively strong discourse power worldwide. Additionally, in China, a country where English proficiency has historically been low, few people born before the 1980s would understand the East-West differences in the term "Dragon" as portrayed in your video. What I want to express is that if something hasn't become a trend in Chinese society, the authorities are unlikely to intervene easily. The recent redefinition of the translation for "Dragon" during this year's Spring Festival actually represents a shift in the thinking of the majority of Chinese people. They are no longer willing to associate their national totem with the Western concept of dragons. Of course, this trend is currently confined to within China. As for how far-reaching the impact will be, that's not something an ordinary person like me considers. Chinese dragon is water. Western dragon is fire. Since ancient times, it's expected that both sides can't get along and will fight once they meet up. Of course, we chinese will also say, Chinese dragon is on the side of good, and western dragon is the evil one.
Well, even westerners say their dragons are evil wild creatures that bring destruction and death. I think it's because Europeans of the old days distorted the symbolism of the Chinese dragons and made them into a symbol of destruction because way back in the day, the westerners were at war with the Asians.

Not necessarily. In Albanian culture Dragons are actually associated with water, also there are two types one is not seen as bad and the other is seen as bad. Drangua and Kulqedra.
In Eastern culture countries, China, Korea, Japan, and South East Asia, the dragon is a symbol of ruler, emperor, king, and good luck. And eastern dragons have dragon balls and fly with the clouds without wings. As you might know, this year 2024 is the year of the dragon. In addition to this, Dragons means emperors and kings, that's why Chinese emperors and Korean Kings were wearing cloths in golden thread dragons embroidery. And thus, the emperors and kings face are called 'Dragon face' in Chinese and Korean. As you can see the palaces, the residence buildings for the kings, you can check there aren't dragon figures on the rooftop, that means King is already living in the building. 🐲🐲
In all honesty, with a logical viewpoint, the ancient Chinese sound like they're just describing lightning and thunder. Regardless, both Western and Chinese dragons are my favorite mythological creatures.
When I was young, I was told a story about how a mystical dragon was created. In Chinese or East Asia countries' dragons were created as the symbol of power for the King and higher royal officials. However, the selection of a type of mystical animals such as a dragon secretly was to mock the King and higher officials. In a way, it does make sense. In an ancient time, Kings and royal higher officials were the most evil people, they would indiscriminately execute people out of fears, control people through fears, or out of pleasures, etc. Therefore, when an official was told to choose an animal that represent the power of a King and his kingdom, he thought of a crocodile and a venomous snake because anyone who is working in the royal palace, on average life expectancy is not that high due to various death from indiscriminately such as wrong doing, envy, jealousy, false allegation, political persecutions, political competition, etc. Thus, being near the King or higher officials was like swim in a swamp unknowingly surround by crocodiles or unknowingly step on a group of poisonous snakes in a rice field, where one would not know when his life will be ended. Even though, crocodile and venomous snake are considered safe from a short distance. Choosing a crocodile or a venomous snake would consider disrespect to the King, so no one dare to suggest those two animals. However, among the most powerful animals like lion, tiger, elephant, bear, eagle, hawk, shark, whale, etc., they all were limited in their capabilities and projecting evilness in their abilities to devout weaker animals. Kings and higher officials were not satisfied with any animals can be seen on earth. Anyhow, an low level official came up with an idea, by creating a mystical animal and called it dragon. The dragon was actually a make up of many animals, the main animals were actually a combination of a crocodile and a king cobra, the rest of other animals were just added on as features to mass the actual animals that were purposely mocking the Kings and higher royal officials. Regardless, whether the assertion is true or not, many people still do associate the symbolic of dragons to religions, wedding, rituals, courage, power, blessing, mystical, mystery, and martial arts, etc.
The Chinese dragon is actually a symbol of totem with many symbolic meanings, symbolizing majesty, power, blessings, protection, supremacy, mandate from heaven. In ancient China, dragons were believed to be gods who controlled the wind and rain, making them extremely important in agrarian societies where wind and rain were necessary conditions for a good harvest. Therefore, dragons were objects of worship and devotion in ancient China.

I think the most important differences are mentality and psychology. Most Western dragons are tough pragmatists, individualists, vengeful, and greedy for money. Most dragons of the East are either philosophers, or mentors, or are part of structure of the divine pantheon. Most Western dragons can be compared to lonely berserker warriors sitting in their gloomy lair. Most Eastern dragons are either some kind of mentors and philosophers, or hardworking workers in service of the gods.
The most famous Chinese dragon is named ""Ying Loong" (應龍). It has wings. As shown on the ancient pictures and those on the pottery utensils (bowls, plates and vases), Ying Loong is having the frame and shape almost identical to those of the Western dragons.
But Ying Loong, as "one type of Loong", is not as popular as the Loong in chinese people. I even dont know there is a creature called YingLoong at all.
"龍 Dragon" is a totem of the ancient Chinese (Han people). It is also a symbol of the Chinese royal family and power. Chinese tradition has always used the dragon totem as the national emblem. The descendants of the dragon refer to the Chinese. So far, the Chinese have always claimed to be the descendants of the dragon (the heir of the dragon). Others must not be used. If the Japanese stole the "dragon" totem (except the Chinese in Japan). The Chinese emperor would send troops to kill and eliminate them. * Han people (Chinese) = descendants of dragons In ancient , Only the Chinese royal family and senior officers can use it. In ancient , If the "White clothes Ethnic 白衣民族" (today's ancestors of Koreans) use the pattern of dragon and use Chinese characters. They will destroy the tribe and beheaded.
Correction(I know this video came out a while ago but still): Chinese dragons or Loong龙 can be of multiple elements which are: Fire, water , earth , and wind as well as being gold.(as an asian who has studied the cultures more deeply i can confirm)the elements are represented in the zodiac too. Edit: I believe as a liker of dragons ,(i like the chinese one more because it is good boy dragon, not portrayed as evil, i hate evil things) that chinese dragons can only be born at the years of their zodiac for example 1988,2012 etc; if we go more specific maybe on the start of the year of the dragon. and different years have different years have different types of dragons for example on 1988 it was a earth dragon and on 2012 it was a water dragon. this actually is most likely true(i think I've read about it in some books in the past.)something i haven't read but i speculate is that when a dragon (or person who was born in years like 1988 and 2012)have a different element than their behaviour so when the time comes after 12 years for example 1988 to 2000 the dragons element changes? PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO EXPLAINING THIS (HOPEFULLY YOU READ THIS COMMENT sorry for all caps)
Aside from satan in western dragon there is also a dragon in norse mythology called nidhogg, who feeds on the life of the world tree called yggdrasil and also the souls of the dead in underworld.
I believe the origins of the European dragon came from the Asian dragon. Many years ago the Europeans were at war with the Asians and the Tartars (Tartaria was a huge region in Asia). Their symbol of good fortune was the dragon, as well all know. But the Europeans, being at war with these people, turned the idea of their dragon into a beast of destruction as anything to do with the enemy must be bad. That's why the European dragon is so fierce and brings death and devastation to the people and must be killed. Just my thoughts anyway.
They are often quite different in how they function in the regional mythology. In China, dragons are usually depicted as beings that are wise, powerful and divine but also potentially dangerous. In Europe dragons are usually depicted as giant apex predators that wreak havoc upon unwary people.
Rob, Chinese dragons are "Nagas". The Buddhist list 16 different type of "Nagas" 8 them are consider Royal Nagas. The Buddhist describe looking like a snake, some with a "wishfulling Jew" that allows them shape shift. They said to rule over water but can live in trees, rocks and deep ocean. In the Imperial Palace there are "dragon walls" these are walls filled with vessels that "Nagas" like. Buddhist teacher do "Naga Pujas" to bring back wells that have gone dry for the villagers. So for instance in west Mount Enta is said to be home of the great spirit Typhon. A 15th English sorcerer had picture of a giant snake thrashing in the ocean. In modern times there have been Buddhist Lamas doing "Naga Pujas" when near Mount Enta.
It said during the 7the century the Lotus born Buddha asked the the four great Naga Kings of Tibet to be the protector but they declined. So instead they gave great treasure of gold and ivory has offering to the Lotus Born Buddha. It said that Nagas are wealthy and that those that do Pujas for them can become wealthy. That why the first Emperor of China would make offering to the Nagas of the two rivers and why he was so rich.

The Chinese dragon (long, loong) was originated from crocodile at about 6000 years ago. through time the shape gradually evolved from baby crocodile to that of today.
Modern scientists believe it originated from tornadoes that have disappeared in China and crocodiles that rolled in the water during floods. It is a combination of snake, horse, bull, and eagle. China doesn't have a dragon, it's in Chinese 龙 and Loong in English。 dragon should be translated as 卓耿。

I recommend a documentary made by PhD scientists called “Dragons or Dinosaurs”. It’s very eye opening. The reason why Chinese include a supposedly “mythical creature” dragon in their Chinese zodiac among 11 other animals is because dinosaurs, formerly known as dragons before the word “dinosaur” was coined in 1821 by Sir Richard Owens, existed with men. They were created with man in the Garden of Eden by God on Day 6. Most cultures in the world have dragon legends, such as St. George slaying the dragon, or Polish fire breathing dragons, or Native American carving triceratops and other types of dinosaurs (dragons) on petroglyphs, or Cambodians carving dinosaur looking creatures on Ankgor Wat. The sea dragons in Chinese legends sound like the leviathan in the Bible, and brachiosaurus 🦕 sound like Behemoth in the Bible. The Loch Ness monster looks like a brachiosaurus 🦕 with a long neck. Dinosaurs formerly known as dragons didn’t die 65 million years ago with an asteroid hitting the earth. They were just drowned and buried alive in Noah’s global flood 4500 years ago, which is why we found soft tissues and blood cells in dinosaur bones. They were buried alive in the huge sedimentation of Noah’s global flood. Plate tectonics, fault lines, 71 percent of the earth covered with deep water, fossils (buried alive creatures), fossil fuel (crushed buried animals) and coal formation (buried and permineralized plants) and petrified trees standing up penetrating many geological strata each supposed took “millions of years” to form, and all the geological strata formed through hydrological sorting, finding sea creature fossils up on mountain tops, are all evidence of this worldwide global flood. Definitely check out the channels “Answers in Genesis”, “Is Genesis History” and “Creation Ministries International” to hear PhD scientists expose the false science of evolution. That documentary “Dragons or Dinosaurs” is definitely a good watch. Signing off as a doctor of pharmacy.
The Chinese dragon and the western dragon are not the same thing at all. The Chinese dragon represents luck, good luck and justice, and there is no similarity in appearance. This is a mistake in translation, so the Chinese dragon should be called loong.

Water in Chinese culture means silver or wealth. Chinese dragon in most cases is coming with water. So this also means Chinese dragon represents a sign with fortune.
not really . not water, its rain and wind. 龙掌管风和雨,古中国一直是个农业国家,风雨和谐意味着农业丰收,所以中国龙是祥瑞的象征,当然另外还有权威的象征。。

I think the early translators made a mistake. Chinese dragons and Western dragons are not the same thing. The Chinese dragon should have its own name. According to the Chinese pronunciation, it should be called "long".
in asia dragon is mostly serpent, same as in america, but doesn't mean we should call them by their original names, it'd drive confusion

In fact, the official English translation for '中国龙' (Chinese dragon) now is 'Loong'.
As for how far-reaching the impact will be, that's not something an ordinary person like me considers. western dragons are often the same actually, this videos is just one giant pile of misinformation.

We should include also the 'feathered serpents" aka dragons in México, I strongly believe they're also dragons.
The most famous Chinese dragon is named ""Ying Loong" (應龍). It has wings. As shown on the ancient pictures and those on the pottery utensils (bowls, plates and vases), Ying Loong is having the frame and shape almost identical to those of the Western dragons.
Wow!

* Han people (Chinese) = descendants of dragons
In ancient , Only the Chinese royal family and senior officers can use it.
In ancient , If the "White clothes Ethnic 白衣民族" (today's ancestors of Koreans) use the pattern of dragon and use Chinese characters. They will destroy the tribe and beheaded.
no they didn't, they were allowed to use, thats why korea japan vietnam have chinese writing in their history.

Correction(I know this video came out a while ago but still):
Chinese dragons or Loong龙 can be of multiple elements which are:
Fire, water , earth , and wind as well as being gold.(as an asian who has studied the cultures more deeply i can confirm)the elements are represented in the zodiac too.
PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO EXPLAINING THIS (HOPEFULLY YOU READ THIS COMMENT sorry for all caps)
this video deserves more views
Fun to know. Thank you, Ben, Jared.
SO,, what about Indonesian Komodo dragon?
Hey what about the mezo American Dragons. They are more on par with the Chinese Dragons
Aside from satan in western dragon there is also a dragon in norse mythology called nidhogg, who feeds on the life of the world tree called yggdrasil and also the souls of the dead in underworld.
The dragon in the West is just a fire-breathing, winged lizard. And in China and South Korea it is a symbol of auspiciousness.

In Meitei mythology, one of the main Gods is called Pakhangba, which is a dragon
Eherm South East Asia in particular Philippines hold the largest and the element of Air the Bird Dragon Minokawa the devours Suns and Moons !
Well done.
thank you 😊
2024 is the year of dragon😂
Yes, that's why this video is released only now. Or did you think it was coincidental?
This year is "Year of the Loong". Not "Year of the Dragon". Chinese loong is different from Western dragon.
It's truly Good video for leaning difference of both culture
Dragon komodo : those two dragons are delicious food yummy
If Buddhism engers into the Chinese lore of dragons then would ancient India have to say about dragons since Buddhism came from India. Chrck the story of Rahu and Ketu in Indian astrology snd youll be intrigued.
Always love light dragons and Goddess Tiamat. ❤️❤️❤️
I’m pretty the first reference to dragons were from Geek mythology and they were sea beast the wipes out the surface with water of degeneracy and the unfaithful in the Greek gods
I find it funny and peculiarly coincidental that the Chinese dragon (long) is actually a "long" creature. In the English-speaking world, their Chinese name is both a name and a pun😂
There is this theory where the huns, being pushed west by the chinese and taking their dragon as their symbol, made europeans associate dragons with destruction. Not quite sure how accurate, but an interesting idea nontheless.
That's exactly what I have been thinking
Interesting

In fact, the Xiongnu and other nomadic peoples in northern China had the same ancestors as the Chinese a long time ago.

The authority of Chinese translating is now promoting to use Loong instead of dragon due to the different cultural meaning.
沒錯, 龍代表善及傑出。 dragon代表獸與惡,二者幾乎相反。外形也相距甚大。 不該把 dragon 譯成龍,也不該把龍譯成 dragon.
i know that as well but with the real synthesis. not just superficial comparison.
the four holy beast is kinda funny to me. Like, you got a dragon, a phoenix, a qilin, and then ... a turtle. Magical turtle? Nope. Just a turtle.
Xuanwu.
not a turtle.
It is a spiritual animal representing the north, with an image of a black turtle and snake, and the season it represents is winter.
The difference between the Chinese & western dragons is the wings. Chinese dragons don't require wings to assist in flying. In live Chinese can be self sustainable.
Four Holy Beast vs Four Symbol:
Four Holy Beasts: Dragon Turtle "North" (The Turtle), Luong or Chinese Dragon "East" (The Dragon), Fenghuang "South" (The Phoenix), Qilin "West"
Four Symbol: Black Tortoise (North), Azure Dragon (East), Vermillion Bird (South), White Tiger (West)
So do you know the difference 😁.
Dragon is like a tools.
Christian - use tools to kill and bully others
Chinese - use tools to help family for better life
In the Bible, dragons represent rebellious spiritual beings and the violent humans and empires in league with them. Jesus ultimately overcomes the dragon with a courageous act of generous love, and he invites his followers to do the same.
I love Chinese dragon 😊
I thought the 四灵 is 左青龙,右白虎,南朱雀,北玄武
Thats 天之四靈

The Chinese dragon (long, loong) was originated from crocodile at about 6000 years ago.
through time the shape gradually evolved from baby crocodile to that of today.
Modern scientists believe it originated from tornadoes that have disappeared in China and crocodiles that rolled in the water during floods. It is a combination of snake, horse, bull, and eagle. China doesn't have a dragon, it's in Chinese 龙 and Loong in English。 dragon should be translated as 卓耿。
Thank you for this detailed and precise explanation about dragons. As a Chinese, I don't mind the translation dragon or loong. However, I wouldn't recommend Shenyin, although the actresses and performance look so good. For me, the funder organization is a cult, those actresses are enforced to practice with low salaries. Even, they are accustomed with that closed living environment. Those children are innocent. I hope their income and influences could be cut.
Hi, I would recommend you go see Shen Yun for yourself to get a full understanding. Many people have made videos about Shen Yun on UA-cam and said its run by a cult etc… to get views. Thats not true. Its connected with Falun Gong, a buddhist meditation practice, its not a cult.
Really interesting thanks

Chinese dragons are what the Buddhist call "Nagas". They look like a snake mostly. Buddhist categorizes 16 different classifications of Nagas. 8 type are called Royal Nagas, and they may possess a "wishfulling Jewel". The most powerful are the Naga Kings. Nagas rule the oceans. But they can be found in certain trees, or making their homes in land and stones. The forbidden Palace has entire walls called "dragon walls" but these are walls for Nagas can live. Nagas are normally rich and bring back waters in wells that have gone dry. Certain sects of Buddhist create vases of copper filed with things Nagas love and bury on the land so that as a offering to them.
@@Madame702 What about the other 8 types of nagas?
@@revinhatol They are more like animals. There not as sentient. But Buddhism is replete with stories of Nagas and their shape shifting abilities. One Tibetan Lama was distraught. The Tibetans over time had lost the land divination. Knowing that the Royal Nagas still possessed this knowledge he went into the high Himalayas where a beautiful clear lake existed their the Nagas said to live. He brought with him twenty yaks full of offering but when he got to the lake a "golden bull" attacked him. Suspecting that the Nagas had set this "golden bull" as guard of their scared lake he used his magical power and defeated the bull. Suddenly, an angry beautiful women appeared to him looking like a Chinese princess dress in brocade silks demanding what he done to her bull? The Lama suspecting that she was a Naga Princess told her he had come to make offering to the Naga to learn real Feng Shui. She suddenly notice the twenty yaks filled with offerings and smiled she agreed to teach him and grab a hand full of sand and began to show him that technique survives to this day has Sasay or the sand technique. This what the Chinese call the Qi Men Dun Jia. Although the Tibetan version differs.
