First of we should make distinction between Vermilion Bird and Fenghuang. As those are distinct entities.
Zhuque is personification of storm/fire and is actually paralel to Judeo-Christain Ziz. One of four Cherubim, holding keep over creation and underworld (in is unclear how they relate to Geruda?).
While Fenghuang is lesser entity more paralel to Qilin in power and function. It is actually not clear if it is really a fire elemental? Generally can be compered to Egyptian Phoenix and Slavic Raróg.

First ,5:15 is tottally wrong . This is Vermilion Bird (朱雀 Zhūquè) . Its red bird , a pheasant with 5 colour hair .
It is easy to mistake with pheonix (凤凰) . 2 bird , 凤 is female bird , 凰 is male bird .
      4:02 : wrong . 5 colour from 5 elements ( wǔxíng )

There should have at least have an honorary mention of the myths where there's a pair of Fenghuangs that turn into a pair of flame wheels for Nezha. It's not "being set on fire" but there's some connection there.

A few years ago, Disney's live action remake of Mula caused a packlash when the movie featured a Western Greek-Egyptian Phoenix instead of Fenghuang. Therefore, it would been worthwhile for the filmmakers to learn what the difference between these two birds is, especially when in the film the Phoenix is said to be reborn from fire, which is a thing that Fenghuang doesn't do.

I actually remember this and this is one of the things that got me really disappointed in that adaptation. It's like the research was surface level. Couldn't even separate the differences between the concept of a phoenix and a fenghuang. I think that's why that adaptation didn't work, it >thought< it was doing the work, it failed to recognize how deep the subject matter went and that lack of sincerity was totally noticeable by those of us with Chinese cultural roots.

I believe our ancestors were talking about the same thing when they are describing a sarimanok/fenghuang. This analog makes a lot more sense than fenghuang/western phoenix.

Sarimanok is in the Philippines side of legend. Specifically in Mindanao.
Indonesia and Malaysia shared few lagendary birds like Garuda and Jentayu. Both adapted from Hindu-Buddha teaching from Indian continent.
Garuda is much like Feng. Yang energy, very bright and hot. Jentayu is Yin energy, very soft and cold. Their story related to this characteristics.
We have another one called Cenderawasih, literally are the Bird of Paradise (a real living bird which thought to be mythological). According to old scriptures like Tajul Muluk, Cenderawasih are Birds from literally Heaven/Paradise, they only fed on heavenly dew, doesn't rot and remain intact after death, smell like perfume and related to royalty. Cenderawasih in legends got 4 wings like angels, really long tail feathers, and cannot touch the mortal ground or they will die immediately. It is said royalties make a lot of mystical items from parts of Cenderawasih, which said to consist tremendous powers over natural law.

Although the fenghuang originally did not immolate (as stated in the video), the ideas associated with the Egyptian phoenix were subsequently introduced into China and added to the myth of the fenghuang. This led to the term "凤凰涅槃", in which the fenghuang self-immolates every 500 years in exchange for humankind's peace and happiness.
Correspondingly, there arose the proverb (成语) known as "浴火重生", which literally means to be reborn after bathing in fire. It describes a person going through various challenges and suffering from pain before emerging stronger and better.

Generally there is four major elemental spirits. And four races of lesser elementals, who behave more like animals.
Bennu (Phoenix), Fenghunag, Huma (Persian) or Raróg (Slavic) may actually be different names of same spirits.
While there are separate myths of powerful godlike beings personifying elements, like Zhuque, Ziz or Simurgh.
You may have actual spirit animals with minor magic powers and paralel deities personifying elements.
PS: In some interpretations Dragons, Unicorns, Firebirds and Kitsunes are actually the same specie. What just have different elemental aliments creating illusion of not being the same. For example Qilin has many elements sillier to Nicor, but it has scales. Similar Griffins have wings, same as Wiverns. Additionally they seams to be capable to move on both two and four legs or even slither alongside having wings. So they may be mistaken for different species depending on the preferred position. In many versions of those myth they also can mimic other species.

The Western Phoenix actually originated more around in Egypt and India regions so it's not really Western as such and it blended with the Asian Feng and such much earlier on than you think. It's why Asian media have adapted the fire bird aspect that can resurrect in their fantasy novels, films, comics, and such. It's actually more likely for a Western person than an Asian to point out that ancient Chinese phoenix didn't have those traits. Particularly the reborn from the ashes one.

Pretty sure if you mean the strange bird pokemon that Ash sees (and which his pokedex doesn't recognize) is an early design of Ho-Oh, which is just based on the hōō, or essentially the fenghuang as it becomes in Japanese folklore. It's just before they got the actual canonical design of Ho-Oh complered, so it's instead just a random creation meant to serve the purpose of being an unknown Pokemon in terms of both being literally not one from the games, but also being something that in-universe, no one had seen before.

In terms of cultural origin, the Chinese Phoenix also has its origins as the Firebird and the Sunbird. . There is just no resurrection legend.

Actually both the Phoenix and the Dragon are ancient Persian deities which were spread all over Eurasia by the Indo-Europeans among countless other cultural similarities between east and west that otherwise have no explanation, so in a way, they’re both the same “species”

    @Learn Chinese Now
When I was studying the concept of the Phoenix and Chinese 中文 in college, I noticed similarities between the words for Phoenix, Wind, and Fire when it comes to the Chinese Phoenix, or is it Chinese Phoenixes...? Feng or 風 Fēng in Chinese means "wind." Huo or 火 Huǒ in Chinese means "fire." So, even though there's no such thing as Fēnghuǒ 風火 in Chinese; can we so easily dismiss the phonetics and the meanings of the words they represent and how similar those words are in concept to the Western Phoenix? Also, Fenghuang is not the only "Chinese Phoenix." 朱雀 Zhūquè or The Vermillion Bird is actually one of the 四象 Sì xiàng; along with Azure Dragon (青龍 Qīnglóng), White Tiger (白虎 Báihǔ), and Black Tortoise (玄武 Xuánwǔ). In the movie 畫皮II or Painted Skin 2: The Resurrection, Yang Mi 杨幂 portrays the Yaoguai or Demon Bird named Quer, and in the movie (SPOILERS) she is portrayed similarly to both a western and eastern phoenix; though, I think her version is more of a 朱雀 Zhūquè not 鳳凰 Fènghuáng.

Many religions even have specific names for specific gods etc. Whichever country or culture they come from, they are all the same, aren't they? Your explanation of phoenix or fenghuang are not complete without the real phoenix one dude.
There is bird which lives in mollucas and papua called "Cenderawasih" (the bird of paradise).
Ancient Javanese people used this birds as gift to chinese, middle east and european people (spain or portuguese) for smooth trading between them and javanese (i think it's majapahit or before majapahit). That's why the legend of phoenix comes, the javanese people very smart to make and tell fiction story until now.
