You can hear all hell is breaking loose outside. They did everything correct, especially at the end, where he repeated "get to shelter." It takes a lot of guts to hang in there and not freak out.
For real. I live in Alaska so this type of weather absolutely terrifies me when I'm visiting family in the lower 48. We are concerned sometimes when we get Thunder Storms! These scare me so bad. Even though this was 9 years ago, still praying. Tornadoes cause so much damage and cost hundreds of thousands, even millions to mend.
My family in California are terrified to visit. We had a particular bad year .. my 50 yo cousin was sweeping the patio as I pulled into home. Sirens blaring. She said she didn't know what to do as she cried with the broom. I said get grandma to basement. Then. " get your shoes on !" Poor girl.. crying and trying to be brave. We had 3 warnings that week. She said I'm ready to head west again! It just scared them to death!

@@KellyS_77 lol.. interesting.. we had pretty good earthquakes here and I actually was trapped by a history making wildfire in Oregon and northern California! You are 100 percent correct. Well, they have to stay safe too obviously. They only stay on for as long as they can, but they’re allowed to take cover when necessary. These are local news stations and they’re likely to be in danger too.
A month ago a tornado went directly over the tornado shelter we were in, and moved the nearby house from its platform entirely and close to the shelter. The sound near the end of this video where the wind was louder and louder is *exactly* what we heard, and the tornado went directly- not nearby- *directly* over our shelter. Trust your ears and your gut when it tells you to get down.
I remember this. I was just a little kid. We were terrified. I didn't live to far from where they've got their radar sight in this video and I remember being so scared because we went into a tiny closet under the stairs, which we'd never done before.
I'm from Wichita KS and ALL news stations weren't supposed to panic on air but you can hear their voices we were all terrified. Thank you Jesus 🙌🙏👏 it wasn't our time.
Not showing panic is one thing. They beyond held composure while presenting how the storm was so imminent. When a tornado is on top of your building. You go downstairs
@@topsam2256 Yes I agree they didn't actually panic I was terrified that night I thought the big one was coming..but u can hear the urgency in their voices.
They should be allowed to panic because it proves the seriousness to all those “it’s not gonna happen to me” types of people out there that don’t take these seriously, even though it’s on them if they fail to react.
Yes, exactly. I learned a long time ago not to take any chances due to living in one of the top 3 most tornado/ tornado fatality prone areas in the country but a lot of people don’t share that outlook but they may be more inclined to take precautions if watches and warnings are issued with the proper seriousness they deserve.
@@TheWaynelds I agree with the “it’s not going to happen to me” part. People think they’re invincible and they’re not. But if they panic, they can’t think straight. It puts me at ease when others are also at ease.
I've been through four tornadoes in my life, one of which hit our shelter almost directly. They're terrifying. Video footage can not convey just how powerful they are. This team did exactly the right thing.

Another reason why the whole idea of living in America scares me. I live in the United Kingdom where tornadoes on this scale are nonexistent. We do get the odd tornado, we had one about 10 years ago that took out a couple of roofs but the houses were still standing. I don't know you lot cope.
May 19, 2013. Radar made it look like it was judgment day. 24 hours later and a few hours south in Moore, OK what could have happened in Wichita did happen.
They were. I imagine there was damage to the building, nothing too serious, and the other man you could hear, but couldn't see was Dave Freeman. He finally just retired from KSN a few years ago, but I miss him. I have the KSN weather app on my phone, they're a good station.

I just wanted to say, Jesus died and rose again for our sins, so we should repent, and spread the Gospel (good news).
You know its practicality doomsday when the news team takes shelter while on the air.
You can hear in their voices at the end 'grab your shit and get to the basement' lol

It happens quite alot actually. It's happened a few times on my local channel

There's nothing more unsettling then when a news station has to stop.

How is this man so chilled out? KSN you have some of the best meteorologists
You’ll hear the people by the windows before it tears the roof off
