Thank you very much for this video. This was the exact problem i had, saved me trip to the Dealer. From a DIY perspective, UA-cam is one advancement in technology that has benefited society, unlike others, cough cough.. Facebook.
This was the first video that popped up when I was searching for a fix for my 2010 4Runner. Really appreciate you taking the time to put this together. Mine ended up being blocked by leaves but your instructions made it an easy fix. Thanks.
Wow thank you. I had a Mazda 3 before my 4Runner and it cost me 600 to replace the blower motor because of how much work goes into even accessing it. I had a friend try to help me before we gave up and brought it in. This is so much easier on a 4Runner. I thought I’d be spending another 600$. 58$ on Amazon. Not bad! 👏
That was so helpful!! My AC air flow was low and I checked my cabin filter, which had sand and leaves in it. You solved my problem and I am getting maximum airflow now. It took only 1 - 2 minutes to fix. 😅 Thank you!!!!
Thanks for such a great video. Short, simple and to the point. I was able to get the correct part for my 2012 4runner and have the old part replaced in 10 minutes.
Thanks for the video! Very helpful. Just bought a 2016 4Runner that had a buzzing fan motor, with your video I had the motor out in five minutes, found the culprit (a leaf) and put it right back in. Worked great! Thanks again!
Thank you for this video, my AC was making a sharp hissing noise, I was about to take it into the shop. Based on this video, I checked the filter: 1) it was shredded 2) had dried leaves inside that probably shredded it. I removed the leaves and the hissing noise is gone. Replacement filter looks to be about $10 bucks on ebay.
Great video. Gave clarity. When i changed my 2010 4runner SR5 blower it was even easy than shown as i didn't have to remove anything except a black cover under the glove compartment covering the blower (it snapped off). Turns out the blower bearings were shot. I did find it easier to leave the electrical connector on until i unscrewed the 3 screws as it was much easier to see the clip and remove the connector.
Burnt Oak I was thinking 100s - Thank you. Not really sure whats wrong with mine. its working but will fluctuate pressure coming out from time to time. Thinking it may be a warning sign.
Just bought a blower for my 2021 4runner (47k miles) mine was making a bearing noise on a cold soak night. Cost me $275 to buy at the dealer 😁. Just for an update.
Great video. I just did this, found 1 dried up leaf in my blower. Put it back, no more sound!! I didn’t disconnect the wire. I had a difficult time getting it off then thought I could get the motor off without disconnecting it. Maybe this is bad, but it worked.
Replaced my 2014 blower motor that was making a low clicking noise. The new oem motor had a small staple clip on one of the blades, the old one did not. It’s for balance apparently. The new one is totally silent. Used an 8mm socket, super quick and easy. Don’t pay someone to do this easy job. Thanks bro!
These are the videos your average Joe wants to see. We aren't used to terminal connectors and little issues like it's stuck and am I gonna break it trying to get it off. People make too many assumptions on the little things that we don't see. It's a great little video. Short, concise. To the point. Necessary info, tools.. parts. Everything. Good job Now let me see an oil change on a 5th generation 4runner with a stuck cap. And don't skimp on the pan shield removal and reinstall. I can't understand it. The pan refuses to go up that last inch and I cannot figure out why. I'm not a moron, but I ain't no mechanic. But I should be able to figure something so simple out and cannot.
Excellent video man! My 17' TRD blower started shitting out after just over a year. I can do the work myself and the part is cheap but taking it in for warranty just cost me too much time so I'm doing it. No way in hell I'm putting a Toyota motor back in, they clearly have a supplier issue!!!! The Tacoma trucks are even worse, guess they actually did a service bulletin for them at least. Otherwise, love my 4R!
Thanks for the video, I do have a mouse inside the air conditioner over the blower and smells very bad, now I know how to take of and clean the blower but for clean that conduct over the blower the one that goes to the motor, any videos? Thanks a lot
Thanks for posting, my 4Runner (2014) AC works but doesn't blow "hard". Took out motor to check it, speed control works fine and cabin filter is clean and 6 months old. Had this issue since I bought it in 2018. Something in the ductwork maybe?? How can I check?
I had a 2016 and mine was replaced three times. I traded it for a 2019 I had the same issue, the first one did it and replaced it... The replacement is making the same noise but louder just like my second blower replacement on my 16. Am I do something wrong with the car? Because I’m gonna need to replace it again and it doesn’t even have 10k in the odo.
Could this also cause it to be warm and get humid in the cabin? I just refilled the A/C so I know it’s not that. We don’t have a great amount of air flow. Thinking this might be it or maybe the resistor. Thoughts? Great video!
Air flow is the same, just quiet now. You can use the recirculate setting and the back AC vents closed to get more flow. Plus, I heard too “good” of a hepa filter can actually restrict air flow.
Thanks for the video. Mines making the same noise on my 15’ but the dealer says it works fine. I have the platinum warranty and they are fighting me over $150 motor and 5 minutes to install? That’s crazy. I may just replace it myself
For real. I bought a used 2008 and the fan roared at higher speeds. Popped it open and it was full of acorns that a mouse or something put in there. Kept getting intermittent noise from my 2005 (I have 3 4Runners) and found 3 sheets of tissue paper(?) above the fan that was getting sucked down into the fan. Gotta keep the hood vents clear of leaves and crap, otherwise it all falls down onto your cabin air filter
Hey man, 19 5th gen 4R, not getting any air flow at all. I replaced the blower motor , worked good for about 2 weeks and stopped again and back to no air flow at all. From my knowledge I’ve checked all fuses and relays , any advice ?
Sounds like a defective blower motor. Did you get a cheap one? Maybe get OEM and try it. Check for power at the CONNECTOR with a volt meter. Put the meter leads across the two terminals with the power on and confirm power. You can get a 5 dollar volt meter at Harbor Freight that will do the job. If it has power then I would say the motor is bad or maybe the connector backed off and disconnected
Hey man I watched a video on the 2008 mustang popping video and commented on it but wasn’t sure if you’d see it. do you know if the popping sound that comes from the dash, would it trigger a solid check engine light to come on?
I saw your comment and responded to it on the mustang video. To answer ur question, no it will not effect the check engine light. Its a seperate issue.
2004 Toyota 4runner here, my AC blows very cold, but not very hard at all. On low, it's almost like its not on. It will increase power as I go up on speeds, but not like other vehicles that I've had before. Do you think it's the blower motor? Ive already replaced the cabin filter and there wasn't much if any improvement
@@GEARMOAUTO the air is coming out, and the fan motor adjusts speeds fine. Im just comparing the air pressure to other vehicles, specifically my mothers 99 Toyota Solara, her AC comes out ridiculously cold and hard. Like I said, I replaced the cabin air filter, and checked to make sure there was nothing in the motor. Im just expecting it to blow harder than it currently is
My 2014 4runner AC is blowing fast and slow, almost dies, then goes back to fast. It blows cold air. Do you think this is the problem or could it be the resistor?
I would be suspecting the blower motor itself. Next time it slows down, safely hit the bottom of the motor and see if it starts working the right speed. If so then the motors bad.

Thank you for this quick and to the point video. This job looks easier than I thought it was going to be!
We bought our 2016 4Runner with the whine/whistle. This was helpful since I knew it was easy to replace and let me negotiate on the price!
Thanks so much! Leaf stuck in my motor housing was driving me INSANE!! Easy fix thanks to you!!

Nah this wouldn't cause humidity. Is your cabin air filter clean? If the cabin filter is clogged it will reduce air flow. Lemme know

I have this weird suction noise that happens when I shut it off. Sounds like electronic noise
That's normal to purge the lines. It comes from the front air filter under your hood. It's an injector.
What if there’s no air at all
