@@paulsuprono7225 Honestly, if you keep the garage door closed, then you can use foam pads which are made into a folding-mattress-like setup, can be tied to the door, to insulate the door from the outside, as if it were a wall. I particularly noticed that the parents live in the 'big house', while the son and partner created the smaller place for themselves. La Mesa resident here. You can get hundreds of gallons in one day off your roof during a single rain storm.
Great video, was the owner after a Paul Reubens look? The bathroom skylights and lighting throughout was definitely next level.
Peewee Herman Realty.
@@ChrisPage68 I thought, "is this guy trolling Kirsten?"
@@netxanhtrongkientrucnay nah, no thanks
Such a lovely space!!!
Wow. It seems like a lot of furniture to have to move around to get your bed out 😱. Is the garage door insulated? Would it get cold and let in a draught at the bottom.
What a wonderful bathroom!
Absolutely brilliant!
Love the bathroom!
very comfotable home. lots of places to get away. this is lost in many homes. i always thought a home should be a compound
You could roller skate in there, it’d be so fun.
Very nice yard (less cement, and more garden - nice food plants, from what the space looks like, as well as some ornamental plants.
A portable collapsible bathtub would be great for the bathroom space. Underfloor heating and cooling is a good idea, and weatherproof and insect - proof wood or fiberglass would be good for the build.
Yes to the tub or a small portable jacuzzi.
It's San Diego - cooling and heating aren't required.
Very nice. It would be cool with those projects to have a ballpark figure of the total costs. I have no Idea how much that Island incl kitchen and bath would cost.
Yeah, it’s got to be VERY expensive. It’s mostly custom designed furnishings by an architect. I look at it as an idea/concept generator to spark solutions and design for our homes, perhaps some DIY.
@@carolz5090 Idea generator?Very nice,
If you could make it yourself then it won't be as expensive. That island is just planks, screws, nails, paint, and wheels.
Even with the architect and the buildings costs it was still probably less expensive than them buying a second house. If you had a woodshop and some patience, I think you could do a lot of this youself
everything can be made from very expensive to very cheap
Only thing I don't like about this is that it's not designed for aging/pain... but it's still fairly cool.
Edit: love the storage/box wall!!!
Error on title. As description mentions and video shows, elderly parents in the traditional home, "younger" family lives in the garage so parents can have the house they wanted in the family compound with shared patio and garden.
Such a nice home
Very inspiring and great ideas for the future.
That uninsulated floor is fine for Southern California, not so much for Bismarck N.D.
def needs a heating floor for colder climate areas, but i do like the cement floor idea, maybe epoxy on top of it as well. Its practical in many ways, should be easy to sweep as well.
Yeah wouldn't work in Antartica either... what's your point?
