Thank you so so so much for making this tutorial I’ve been trying to make movies like your rm highlight video cause that video is so good and is severely underrated you deserve way more subs keep up the good work man
I'm glad it was useful for you! As for your question, it depends on what you mean by different recording configs, I don't have a lot of knowledge in that area but I will go over setting custom keybinds when setting up Lawena, which is technically part of the "recording config" that launches when you run the program.
Hey so I have done every step correctly however whenever I click the "Start Team Fortress 2" button, It will load for about 5 seconds, and then says "failed to load the launcher DLL: The Specific module could not be found". Is there anyway to fix this? Great tutorial btw!
What version of AVI Recorder did you use? (I used AviRecorder 1.0.4) Because mine crashes all the time when I try to change the Video codec. I know your not the crator of this programm but maybe you can still help me with that. Thanks in advance!
I had everything working perfectly for about a week, but I had to delete my moviemaking programs/files and redownload them due to an unrelated pc issue. But now when I try to open AVI Recorder I get an error message - Failed to start AVI Recorder, No supported steam games found on this system. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Lawena and AVI Recorder, and I've tried using a previous version of AVI Recorder but I still get the same error. Lawena works just fine, I can't think of anything else to try really. Any help? Thanks.
@@KitFistMe i dont remember exactly what i did but i think i edited the games.kv file and changed it to properly locate tf2, as the path in the file was incorrect.
If you aren't already, you should be using the "Stop Team Fortress 2" button in Lawena to close the game and NOT closing the game normally. That should prevent your game from getting messed up.
hi, I always get the Match Status box whenever I open an STV demo, which is annoying, I don't want it on my videos, do you know a HUD of STV demo where it gets rid off everything except for the crosshair and killfeed? like the beater hud

A bit late, but can be useful for new people. I had a similar issue because Lawena was running at 120fps and AviRecorder was recording at 60fps (or viceversa). I set both to 120 and problem solved.

I cannot open my lawena due to this Problem saying "Caused by java.lang : OutOfMemoryError : GC overhead limit exceeded" do you know the way so i can fix it?
Hi shears, your video was excellent, thank you so much! However I couldn't find a way to make the damage numbers show up when i'm recording the demos, I unchecked the box "disable combat text" to make it show the numbers but it just won't work. I wanted to record using the option "HUD" on "kill notices only" + the damage numbers but I couldn't figure it out. Do you know if it's possible to make them appear when I'm recording using that preset "kill notices only"? Thanks again!
I forget if the default lawena "kill notices only" hud supports damage numbers or not, so you might be right there that damage numbers simply aren't included in that preset. If you are using CastingEssentials and trying to record an STV demo, make sure you use the command ce_hitevents_enabled 1 to turn on damage numbers for STV demo recordings. If that fails --- What I generally do when recording is find a custom HUD whose damage numbers I like the look of, and then go into that HUD's files and delete all the HUD elements I don't want before recording. I don't remember what exactly to delete off the top of my head, but the huds.tf discord can help you out in that regard. It's not too complicated. Especially if your damage numbers show up on the lawena HUD version that has all the UI elements, I think you might be right that the "kill notices only" version might just not include damage numbers. So I'd recommend just using a different HUD instead, and manually removing HUD elements.
While Lawena no longer receives active updates it is still perfectly functional. I provided a link to the version I recommend in the other reply chain you commented on. Using OBS to screen capture is perfectly viable if your PC is fast enough to capture the game at your preferred quality and framerate settings. The workflow in this video series is designed for people who want maximum quality recordings. I actually used OBS (in combination with Lawena and some of the other tools I've shown!) as my primary capture method for my most recent frag movies, including the Main S5 one, as screen capture is the only way to record the post processing effects that ReShade provides.
Check your formatting - the demo won't play if there are spaces in the filename or if the filename is too long. If that doesn't work it may be an issue with the demo file itself
@@shearstf2269 idk man when i boot up the game and the console is open like u said when u start recording and all that, and i type in playdemo, and it doesnt show any demo file names for me to choose from, and i tried to manually copy n paste from one of the demos I wanted to use and record for, but then that leads me to the beginning of my issue which says cant play demo for reading, so i give up lol . just gonna record my gameplay i guess, but also i really do want to record som cinematics as well, so im probably might look into it mroe on

You can hit the "start recording" button on AVI Recorder anytime before or after launching the game and it should still work, if I remember correctly, as long as you hit it before you start the in-game recording process by pressing p while watching a demo. You will need to hit "stop recording" on AVI Recorder before it will output the recorded files properly.
