- I decided to explore a new fishing spot. I fish in the headwaters of this spot occasionally, but I do not go fishing this far downstream where the water is warmer. That was until now...

Thank you so much for your kind words mate.
That was unreal!! It's not very often you find cod and redfin in equal numbers haha. Well done mate what a great creek that is
Thanks so much mate. 👍👍
Your an absolute bloody Legend Robert 👍 Redfin then a Platypus sighting and of course some beautiful Cods 👍👍👍👍👍✊ your the Man 🤣🤣🤣
Haha thanks Sharon. I love these types of adventures.
A great result from exploring a new area Robbie. Some very healthy looking fish caught. Sitting there in the shade watching a Platypus doing its thing...fantastic.
Thanks so much Neil. It really was fantastic. They're such unique and amazing animals.
I'm glad you are doing good. I love that way the fish are acting. Nice redfin.God bless.
That a great little creek mate some fantastic fish in there great to see some cod in there to hopefully you catch that black fish soon mate cheers
Thanks so much mate. 👍👍
Cod on a soft plastic.... never seen that before! That was so cool! 😁🎣
Thanks mate. 👍👍
Was in Shepparton today and I’m keen to fish in the Murray River. Be back in Victoria next week so I will be bringing my gear 🥳🥳 Hope Lauretta and the Girls are well 🤗
Thanks so much Sharon.
That's awesome, I hope that you can catch some fish in the Murray..
I hope that you are all well too. 👍
We call red fins Perch in Europe, really tasty fish on BBQ, just salt and pepper, but I can't make myself to kill them, such fun fish to catch and so pretty. Keep up the good work, I like your videos. Hello from UK
Doesn't get much better. New Spot, Multi-Species action, and a platypus cruising around. Some very nice catches, well done Robbie!
Thanks so much Larry. I love these types of trips.
Hey Robbie not sure if you noticed or not but at the 13:14 minute mark the redfin spits out what looks like one of your banana shock curl tail grubs. not sure if it was the fish that snapped you off earlier in the video. great video as always.
i seen this aswell
Thanks so much Tom. I didn't notice. I will check it out, Thanks for the heads up.
no problem Robbie, just found it interesting and thought you may too
Well spotted.
what a lovely cod. nice video good to see some of the fish biting up your way. i am not catching much down towards bendigo
Great work robbie i had a luttle cod folliw my zman 2.5 inch grub when i was targeting spangled perch
Thanks mate. I would LOVE to catch spangled perch some day. We don't get them down here.
Word up Homie! A real mixed fishery, ultra skinny water fishing for cod!
Thanks homie. It's a ripper this one,!!
Hiya rob
What a lovely back water, and all the fish a reasonable size .. loved the colour In that perch ,,cracking
Thank you rob
😎🏴🎣
Thanks so much Mike. It's always great discovering new places.
I'm glad to see you gave that carp on plastic a go at least, when you see them feeding in a creek like that is a perfect opportunity, as you know it's one the fish I enjoy to target on plastic these days.
If you are ever bored I have a video in my tips and tricks playlist of how to catch carp on lure 👍
Now as for the rest of your video.
What an epic adventure mate, from the big redfin, the attempt at the carp and not 1 but 2 beautiful Murray cod 👍
Always fun bait fishing in a mixed fishery, another decent redfin on worms and carp to finish off the day.
What an awesome mixed bag mate, keep up the awesome work as always 👍
PS nothing more I enjoy than seeing our native wildlife thriving in the wild, our platypus are one awesome creature, one of 2 egg laying mammals and both are very unique that is for sure, there is actually 3 since the long beak echidna, is technically a separate special from the short beak echidna.
The long beaked echidna was recently rediscovered after being announced extinct for years
WOW That is amazing about the echidna. I will have to look it up.
I have caught carp on soft plastics plenty of times, but only ever as a bycatch. Whenever I have specifically targeted them I have always failed. Haha
@@robbiefishing there is actually a technique to getting carp on plastics and certain plastics help too.
Strike tigers are good carp like the garlic scent, a black nymph is great start on a 1/32 jig head, so you can almost hover it right in front of its mouth 👍
Well there you go mate that's your new information for the day, we all learn something new everyday as they say 👍
Some nice small water Murray cod there Robbie, nice vid mate
Thanks Dmac. I was fishing with my mate Sandy last night and we were talking about you, and how we enjoy the laid back nature of your videos.
@@robbiefishing thanks mate always nice to know im getting out there😄
Awesome stuff, Robbie. I reckon you should do an episode on targeting carp on a lure. Or maybe several eps 😅. I was chasing cod up near Cohuna recently and had a carp whack a size 2 stumpy!
Thanks mate, wow that is unreal. I have caught them on soft plastics and spinnerbaits, but never on a hard body.
Lovely reddies mate. They are so much fun at that size. Love to see the platypus there. Nice hole.
Those cod were nice and fit. Love skinny water cod.
"After dropping my worms and about 15 split shot sinkers into the sand..." Sounds like you are a professional like me.
Hahaha thanks mate. Once you drop a split shot it's gone forever. LOL It's like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Just pulled up for the night went past your home town today plenty of water in the creeks gunner catch up on your vidz cheers from grumpy
Thank you so much for your kind words and very generous support Grumpy. I hope that you are having a wonderful week at work. 👍👍🙏
Excellent viewing , as usual, thanks Robbie, some lovely fish caught there. cheers buddy take care and stay safe. 👍
Thanks so much mate. 👍
Great video Robbie 👍🏼… I like the new area you’re in. That first Redfin was a beaut and that platypus was a surprise to see, lol. They were nice Cod as well, Robbie 👍🏼
Thanks so much Wayne. I always get a buzz when I see a platypus.
Same situation with me catching a cod on a soft plastic unexpectedly when not even chasing cod I was chasing reddies then a 80cm cod took it I was very happy that day awesome work Robbie 😊🎣
Thanks mate, WOW I bet you were grinning like a fat hairy Spider that evening. Well done.
I wanna show you a photo but don't know how to on UA-cam and yes I was really happy 😁
Nice mixed bag there Robbie and a bonus platypus. Lovely colours on the cod 👍
Thanks so much Frank. It's always great to see a platypus. 👍
you wouldn’t expect to catch a cod on a curly tail grub. nice work robbie
Thanks so much mate. 👍👍
Aussie_Fishing, I would very much expect to catch a cod on curly and wriggle tail grubs. Those are cod and Yebbly candy. One of my favourite lures to throw for natives in heavy timber, in fact. I have caught some great fish on them. Was using one for reddies a couple of nights ago. Give them a go. You might be surprised. Carp love them too.
@@AndrewFishman ok, thanks i’ll give them a try
Good luck mate. Just vary the retrieves, and throw in plenty of pauses and waits. @@Aussies_Fishing
Just pulled up for the night went through your home town this morning Gunnar relax and catch up on your videos cheers from grumpy
Thanks Grumpy. You passed Wang this morning did you? Drive safely my friend. 🙏
Every time my kids are like "hey dad are you watching, hey you your watching robbie fishing"
Hahaha legends.
Great Session! Thanks for sharing Mate :)
Thanks so much for watching Robert. 👍
Looked like a nice night to wade up that creek fishing. I would not have thought that creek would hold any cod let alone that size so good to see
Thanks mate. I was surprised when I first saw them in there. They really are an amazing fish aren't they.
I think the 1st redfin was after his 15min of fame on camera. Lol is a 👍🐕🤠
The more cod in the waters the less carp and redfin, it’s great to see cod in these small streams. Be interesting to see what effect the tiger trout will have on carp and red fin numbers.
Mate, great episode. And what a great session.
Thanks Butch. 👍👍
Absolutely cracking session. It's awesome to see platypus, shows the waterways are healthy. Great spot, great fishing with a mixed bag of species. Fantastic content, mate. Cheers
Thanks so much mate. I agree, how amazing are platypus. Beautiful and unique creatures.
Orsum fishing ,love watching you roby ,never know wot you going to get but its all fun.😅
Thanks so much for your kind words mate.
Excellent the almost legal cod on 4lb line well done I noticed lure curl tail grub was almost the same colour as the cod
Thanks Pete. This one certainly gave me a buzz mate.
Great job Robbie love the video. Hope you have a good day
Thank you so much Tom. I hope you've had a great day too mate.
Hey Robbie, I'm not sure if you noticed this but the second redfin you caught at 13:10 spat out the yellow curly tail grub that you list earlier. 😂😂
Thanks mate. I didn't notice at the time but a few people have pointed it out
Love the channel and a big big thanks for Teaching me whot to do with Frsh water fhishing
Thank you so much for watching mate. 👍
Great session especially in a new spot 👍👍👍👍👍
lovely little cod Robbie! Well done mate, cod as a bycatch is prettt good hahahaha. Keep it up mate
Thanks mate, haha you're not wrong. What an amazing bycatch. LOL
Cracka vid Robbie great job don’t see a cod hiting curly tail grubs that often
Thanks mate. 👍👍
A lovely waterway and awesome fishing.
Thanks Donna, it sure is lovely. 👍👍
Top job! As annoying as they can be, I just love the platypus and water rats. They have more rights than me to our great waterways. Thanks for a great outing Robbie A.
Thanks mate, me too. I always get a real buzz whenever I see either of them..they're both beautiful Aussie creatures.
I’ve been watching your videos for too long Robbie! I went for a fish the other day and realised that every release I involuntarily say “see ya later mate” haha!
Hahaha that is so awesome, thank you so much mate. See ya later mate. Haha
Good session!
A tip: Those were JACARANDA trees, they are covered in thorns!
Ahh OK. I worked that one out the hard way. LOL 🤣
@@robbiefishing So I saw!
My kind of spot Rob! Awesome!
Thanks Les, mine too mate.
The best how your like hey you ! Your watching Robbie fishing
Nice Robbie 🎉
I think the 1st redfin was after his 15min of fame on camera. Lol 👍 🐕 🤠
Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣
You never know what you’ll get at times. I got a 37cm blackfish on a jig spinner and soft plastic in a pool near monbulk. Right next to snags. Couldn’t believe it.
WOW that was awesome. Unexpected catches are the best.
well done
i could be wrong but is that your softplastic coming out of the redfin at 13:14 ? looks like it to me
Thanks mate. Someone else said that. I will check it out for sure. 👍
Hey Robbie I love your videos I think I live near you. I live in Yarrawonga I’m bout to subscribe
Thank you so much mate. Yep, you sure do love near me. I'm in Wangaratta.
Nice you should come to Yarra one day with holly to go down to the green patch down the river their is cod carp and silver perch and heaps other fish
Nice work Robbie
Thanks mate.
Lovely Robbie ❤
Surprising the redfin didn't rise to lures, but its a fantastic stretch of creek you've found
Don't worry too much about the measuring, we saw you catch it and its good enough proof in my book
Thank you so much. I was surprised by the redfin too. They're usually the first to hit a soft plastic.
What an awesome creek mate
Thanks mate, it's an absolute ripper for sure.
Seems to be the Redfin at 13min that you caught seem to chuck out your soft plastic you lost ?
Yes, I agree. A.few other people have said thst so I went and looked. WOW That is incredible.
that first redfin took off slow, i think i saw it washing the taste of your knuckle out of its mouth hehe
Haha quite likely. Knowing me it probably tasted like chocolate because that was probably the last thing that I ate. Haha
Hi Robbie I was wondering what size fastach you use 🍻🎣
Hi mate, I can't remember the number, but I like the second largest ones. I think they are size 4 but I could be wrong.
Dam i wish I could go fishing like robbie he goes everywhere, I just stay at the Murray River in Tocumwal 😂
Great days fishing mate
Thanks Jeff. Holly and I went back with cod lures a few days later. WOW 😲
Just came back from a creek fish this time I Brang, my bait caster and me and my two mates got two trout cod and one Murray cod seems that they are heading up the creeks I haven’t got a cod on lure out of the rivers since Christmas Eve
The flushes of rain we are getting are triggering them to move into the headwaters and creeks. The Yebblies are on the move too.
Thanks mate, yeah I have only caught a couple on the rivers myself. The constant storms and unsettled water conditions are not helping.
@@robbiefishing and people where saying it was going to be a dry summer but it kinda fun fishing the tiny creek for cod
You lads have gotten some nice fish.Cannot comment on your stuff, but I do watch it :D @@JobeCurrie
Awesome content mate 🔥
Thanks mate. 👍
I was fishing there with jobe and my other mate there today and ended with 3 nice cod
Awesome, well done mate.
Hey robbie, im about to start a new youtube channel about fishing and travelling and wonder how you get lure hook sets on camera espically for cod when they just ho BANG
Cheers
Hi mate, just keep that camera rolling as you fish..
Hey Robbie what line clips do you use for your lures?
Hi mate, when using this light spinning gear I just tie the mono line straight to the lure. I rarely use line clips for trout and redfin fishing.
Course it was stunned looking at your face 😅😅
Hahahaha that's enough to stun anything. LOL 🤣🤣
Hello Robbie do you know where you can catch yabbies around Albury wodonga it’s near lake Hume
Or any good fishing spots in the Riverina cheers Robbie
Hi mate, Check out Billabong Creek, it is full of fish and yabbies. Most are carp but there may be a sneaky yellowbelly or cod in there as well..
Great Vid Robbie as always.
So picturesque the streams you fish.
How good to see a Platypus in the wild.
But please Mate...you go0tta learn how to mute the audio when showing slow Motion.
I keep turning to look at my Kids in the loungeroom exppecting to see them hanging off the ceiling asling me to join them with the maggots in hell.🤣🤣🤣
Hahahaha thanks mate.
Done really well despite being warmer water. I excalty know where that spot is done better than me i only caught carp after carp haha. Last night I went to the Basin for a swim and a fish the reddies i got was fish fingers all over got way to many. So this morning at 4am decided to try greens lake that was a better outcome big reddies took 3 Home for breakfast haha. Its just weird though its like they knew the boats was hitting the water cause they sokn shut off when a boat hit the water and that was at 6.30. crazy people and the water skiing in a big thunderstorm hahaha
Awesome, thanks mate. It's great to hear that Greens Lake is fishing OK again. I love that place.
In your area do you require a licence to fish a natural water way or just dams.
Hi mate, I am not sure what the laws on saltwater fishing are, But I am pretty sure that you still need a licence.
We need one to fish everywhere in freshwater Victoria..
Cool. Cod on plastics.
Thanks Phil. 👍👍
Mad dog 👍🤙
Hey Robbie I live in the macedon Ranges and I would like to do some cod fishing do you know any good spots around me. I would love to know
Hi mate, I'm not sure how far away it is but the Goulburn River is a great spot. There are cod in Lake Eppalock as well.
Thanks robbie
Please remind us where you got your satchel
Hi mate, do you mean my black bag? My friend Jeff sent me this one as a generous gift.
@@robbiefishing yes t the black bag
* Lip smack * NOICE!
Your wrong hahaha
Dad extreme jokes
Hahaha
Love the vid
Thanks so much mate.
At 13:14 the redfin throws up a yellow curl tailed grub
Or salt as well.
Pumped
Beautiful private property stream mate… you lucky bugger
Thanks mate, I sure am very lucky.
@@robbiefishingthanks for sharing your adventures with us, i dont fish much these days as too many people nowadays but enjoy these memory invoking videos mate, it’s greatly appreciated the effort you put in to your channel and you deserve any success you get, cheers from Mypolonga SA
Reminds me of the Onkaparinga Gorge about 25-30 years ago, thumper reddies and a few nice trout as a bonus
What’s red fin taste like?
Absolutely beautiful. They're a very good table fish.
@@robbiefishing I wish my folks liked fish
it looked like that second redfin spat your plastic out that got snapped off. love the vid mate keep it up.
Yes, I agree. I didn't notice it until a few others pointed it out. Isn't that amazing.

Great fishing Robbie, put some length marker's on your fishing rod that way you'll have a rod ruler. 📏
Hey mate thanks for the great tip.
Great work!
