Artist at work - how I make my sculptured mirrors

Have you ever seen a sculptured mirror made from one piece of a tree!
As you may know, I love creating things out of Wood, the process I enjoy the most is working with complex and difficult shapes. One because nature gives us something that is difficult to harness and if you work with the wood, it allows the wood to speak. So in my work it’s not me that is the main creator. It’s the Tree and that’s a really important point in my work.
Over a 100 years to grow the tree
Three years to dry and stabilize the wood
60 hrs plus to carve and finish.

I created this video which shows the timelapse of me working with the wood to Create a mirror the actual tree ring took over three years to dry and I’ve made numerous mirrors and sculptures from the tree that it came from.
