    Happy Friday everyone! Just wanted to make a slight correction, the Enclave does in fact have LED rear turn signals, which you can see in the video. As nice as this car is, we struggle to find a reason why you'd choose this over the Telluride, Atlas, or upcoming Hyundai Palisade. Even the Chevy Traverse makes more sense, mostly because of the price tag that Buick is asking for this car. It is about $10,000 more expensive than a fully loaded Telluride, Atlas, Ascent, Pilot, Traverse, etc but to us, it didn't really feel like it. We also disliked how even our top trim Enclave Avenir was missing adaptive cruise control and at $57,000, it should be standard. Still a great choice in the segment if you like the design and want something bigger, but we question the value here with so many options to choose from now! Thanks for watching everyone and enjoy your weekend!

    I agree with what you said about the font. Each brand needs their specific font style. They also need different dash chimes! No matter which GM brand you choose, the same damn BONG, BONG, BONG. The smallest details can change the overall brand perception. I think Buick and Cadillac with these small details, could start to differentiate themselves a little more from Chevrolet. When you're driving a Buick or Cadillac, you shouldn't feel like you're driving an overpriced Chevrolet.

    Good review as usual. As someone who was in the market comparing the Enclave, Acadia, and XT5 I have to say that the 3.6 L V6 in the Enclave and Traverse is not basically the same as what's in the XT5 (Acadia or Blazer). The larger vehicles on this platform use the first generation V6 (LFY) @ 3564cc and the smaller three vehicles use the larger V6 (LGX) @ 3649cc which has a larger bore and increased bore spacing. So though they are both nominally 3.6 liters in displacement they are completely different engines.
    The two engines also produce peak torque at very different RPMs---5000 for the new one versus 2800 for the Enclave/Traverse engine.
    I found the new 3.6 to be more refined (smoother) than the one in the Enclave. (The Grand Cherokee 3.6 seemed smoother than the LFY 3.6 in the Enclave.) I guess the lower-rpm torque peak in the LFY vs. the LGX is the reason to leave it in the the larger, heavier vehicles.

    Center console where the keys are lifts out. You also missed the spot of the console by your feet. That's where the space went and an additional outlet. Buick softness is what it should be, living room on wheels is what they started out as. As for extra options, most folks with BMWs barely use all the buttons and are just happy they have a BMW. Same for this, GM markets and gets away with what people will buy because they are solid GM loyal folks and will not cross shop.

      THANK YOU for pointing out all of the additional storage areas that he missed in this ENCLAVE REVIEW. It's frustrating when someone complains REPEATEDLY over and over (center console design, dashboard design, lack of storage) when the complaint is due to lack of actually becoming familiar with the vehicle. My guess is instead of actually checking out pricing there will be another 200 comments saying "OMG, this is so expensive and I would never pay $57k for this!" As if they aren't currently 16% off. This vehicle is probably around $50k. Only slightly more expensive than the smaller loaded Telluride which 30 people have commented on thus far claiming it's a huge value relative to this. If the pricing info isn't going to be represented accurately there is no point in bringing it up. The new explorer is going to costs just as much well equipped. Even a loaded Pilot is nearly 50 grand

    5 years later and the 2019 Avenir is holding up well even in the re-sale market. Granted today's price is no where near original sticker but what car is? Ours has 78 thousand miles on it and every option that was available including the adaptive cruise control you mention and it's still valued at a respectable 23-24K. Original sticker was 61K. Most important though is the car still functions perfectly, even all the high tech gadgets have been trouble-free. The car has been given by-the-book maintenance since day one and I'm sure that plays a role in its longevity but my main point is we love the Enclave, this was a step up from a 2011 Enclave for us and the evolution from 2011 to 2019 was mind-blowing.

Acura has had some issues with their automatic transmissions over the last 8 to 10 years or so, so I personally steer clear because of that. Also, the RX350 has that ridiculous device that you use to control the center info screen, it's a terrible design and works awfully. Thanks for your review. I always liked your reviews but for the past few you seem to end up confusing me. Specs for cargo volume are 97.6 for the Buick, 96.8 for the VW Atlas and 86.7 for the Kia Telluride. 3rd row leg room specs are 33.7 for the Atlas, 33.5 for the Enclave and 31.4 for the Telluride. You said here that the max cargo for the Buick is about 10 more than the Atlas and Telluride. In your last review of the 3 row comparison you gave the Telluride the win for the 3rd row legroom over the Atlas. Now is there a way for you to have the 3 way comparison with exact equal tests not having one with 2nd row pushed forward while others are pushed all the way back. This would be greatly appreciated as it would give the readers/listeners the right and great information

    • @theredline
      @theredline  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for catching that, we actually filmed this review about a month before we did the 3-way comparison and forgot that the Atlas had about 10 more cubic feet of space versus the Telluride. So this vehicle and the Atlas are similar which makes sense because they are closer in size while the Kia is a bit smaller. With 3rd row legroom, the numbers may show higher on the Atlas and Enclave, but we found the real world space in the Telluride to feel roomier. Hope that helps to clarify a few things and thank you for watching!

      Redline Reviews thanks for replying. I have sat in all 3 and I am 5:11 to me the Atlas was more comfortable in the 3rd row than others. The seat felt higher. I can say that when I moved the 2nd row forward on all 3 to be comfortable the second row legroom was equal between the Atlas and the Enclave while the telluride felt a bit more cramped. Front row was set to my driving position. Right now overall the Atlas seems to be the winning combo for me. And leaning to get that above the others.

    Tested out an Ascent, Pilot, Telluride, Atlas and Acadia before settling on the Enclave. To us the interior felt bigger than the Atlas without the lumbering feel the Atlas had. We ended up with an Avenir with the tech package and towing package for just under 49k. The price discussion is severely misleading as I tracked these for 4 months while never seeing one top out at over 51k. The point being, a fully loaded Telluride was within 3000 of this car, and it provided significantly less cargo space. The Atlas has questionable fuel economy, with some test putting its average between 17-18. The Pilot simply felt bland, the Subaru was nice, but it didn’t feel spectacular in any way. Bottom line is all of these vehicles sit in the mid to high 40s for the very top trim. And Buick is no different if you actually research the prices within the segment.

    Here's the thing: Unlike an automotive journalist, most consumers don't drive dozens to hundreds of different vehicles in a year's time. So they're not repeatedly exposed to "similar looking key-fobs" nor instrument cluster lay-outs that "resemble each other too much." Those are problems (being generous with that word) which might be annoying to someone driving countless automobiles day-in and day-out, but not especially relevant from a typical driver standpoint.
    Sure, it might feel nice to see something more distinctive from time to time, to break up the monotony. But if it's proven to be a great design that looks & works well (whether we're talking dash displays or key fobs), then why would you necessarily change it - and even better question -how does it need to change?
    That aside... I agree that it is overpriced. All of Buick has become overpriced, and has blurred its way into Cadillac's price segment. If you want to be an attainable luxury brand, you need to keep its pricing on-point. This is not helped by the fact that Chevrolet's price points have gone up, too.
    We own a previous-gen Regal, love it. Our SUV, a 2004 Bravada Final 500 which had just hit 100K, was broadsided last year... saved my husband's life but was totaled out. We checked out Buick, naturally... This Enclave, and the previous were both available - and too large. We considered the Envision (a bit too small, but we were open to it) and the GMC Acadia Denali. When we sat down to discuss price, and - just two years after a good deal with the Regal - found that we were dealing with a new Buick-GMC price category... one that was, not exaggerating in the slightest, stepping into Cadillac price territory.
    We now very happily drive a Santa Fe Ultimate, first non-GM car for us in over a decade... So if we were looking for a 3-row (which we will probably never, ever need), we'd definitely consider the Telluride or Palisade over this. GM is losing its way when it comes to value vs. competing brands.
