Theres an ancient waka here in new zealand thats called takitimu! That was built in savai'i samoa, it was a very tapu waka no woman or food allowed because of the high chiefs and powerful tohung'a on board! It also had special treasure and special people who held the knowlegde of our people and our gods it was also the leader of the great fleet of seven waka which was te arawa, tainui, mataatua, aotea, tokomaru and kura haupo the waka takitimu was so big, fast and powerful that it was the only waka able to break the tide so the rest of the waka could get through but before the wakas voyage to aotearoa it was sent to every island in the pacific to be blessed before its great journey in the pacific ocean! This waka ended up in the south island of new zealand but on its way through some of the people stopped in certain areas it is the main waka of the maori people today the ngai kahu!
