About Aaron Jenkins:
After discovering high-end audio in the mid-2000s, Aaron got hooked when visiting the California Audio Show -- where he entered a ballroom expecting to see an opera singer he heard from the hallway and instead found a pair of YG Acoustics Anats. While he doesn't have the space (or budget!) for such mega speakers and their accompanying hardware, he's been trying ever since to re-create some of the magic of that experience in real-world rooms.

Great review. I have the original black Dragon Fly dac. Looking forward to your upcoming reviews.
This presentation is beautiful, very detailed and to the point !!!! THANK YOU !!!!
I've had it forever, not getting rid of it anytime soon.
One of the coolest products this industry ever built. Absolutely amazing sound, so useful, and so inexpensive. I love mine.
Bought my Dragonfly Cobalt this past January after seeing some review videos and having the new price drop. Never experienced or used a DAC before....but since getting and using...im NEVER going back after i heard what the hell im missing in my music. Amazing product!
got the original black over 10 years ago. loved the improvement with powered speakers and my akg 240's. with the purchase of hifiman anandas, was blown away by the planar design. but with the cobalt, everything was taken to the next level. now i'm spending way too much time listening to my music and smiling a whole lot more than ever.
Excellent reviews thanks a lot
Well done!
I love my Cobalt DAC!! It sounds fantastic!!! The build quality is good, but I have had one of my 2 units get “loose” where USB is connected. Still sounds great!!! I’ve never heard anything close for the price!!!
The 'loose' issue has plagued the Cobolt. Fortunately not the others.
Good review. I have the Black and the Red and they're a fantastic so I will have to get a Cobolt. Well, I was going to get a Cobolt until my local retailer showed me the Chronos made by German company, Violectric. After a lengthy audition, I bought the Chronos and have not been disappointed. Still, the Cobolt beckons...Thank you.
Good expose, I have the Red and no issues. At the moment on the market for a dac. This has the diminutive size thats provides desktop and pocket solutions in one which is great, I could plug this into a PC leave it there with e 3,5mm jack to twin RCA plug it into the amp and forget it whilst retaining the portable phone option. My other two choice are the Topping DX3 Pro Plus and the Fiio K11. The Fiio K11 is the best value here and probably wont fall short in delivery of sound either.
Would be good to know how does it compare to EarMan portable DAC. My cobalt gave up after 3 years, the jack socket just went loose and it's ratling inside the DAC. Soundwise it's amazing. Mechanical built is not great.
good morning, what adapters do you recommend, when it is not possible to connect with cables?? Thank you very much
Would you say that the Schitt Modi 3E is better option for PC applications when you connect it to your stereo using the RCA cables?
I bought dragogly red and hook it up to pc. Over you tube it was better with huge amount of bass and better clarity and dynamic. But when I use it with/over Tidal properly set up, I couldn’t belive! Now I am up for cobalt….
How does the Cobalt compare to the basic Apple dongle, worth the $200?
the audio is very low volume when i use mine
What about the Questyle M15 ?
Whataboutism is a concerning disorder. Might want to get that checked out. 😂
@@_fakeklg, kindly repeat that in ENGLISH, Miss.☝️
Incidentally, Slave, are you VEGAN? 🌱
@@TheVeganVicar was the reply not “vegan” enough for you?
Careful with that “slave” word there vicar. Even though your “god” condones such actions, most don’t take kindly to that term.
Stick to your vegan bible and leave “interneting” alone for a while.
I got one from Amazon after listening to a friends Cobalt for a few songs, but it was probably defective. After A-B testing against an Apple DAC, it was missing some frequencies in the mix so I returned it. I now have a Chord Mojo2 and I’ve been happy with it. Amazon is a good way to get gear due to the liberal return policies.
Another explanation for your analog friend's reaction to the digital sound. That is my reaction no matter the cost of the DAC. Digital is just plain inferior and I can detect it 100% of the time.
With some images I could show the linear timing shift of high frequencies compared to the lows which causes the artificially enhanced "detail" of digital. e.g. the click of the pick gets separated from the resonance of the guitar string. So yes suddenly the pick becomes more noticeable.
Still worthy in 2024?
My favorite go to DAC for everyday use. Not spending hundreds on a dedicated DAP anymore, absolutely not needed. Even music that are encoded MP3s in 320Kbps has almost all the details as 24bit 96Kbps files. Even when I use an iPhone with a Grado RS1, it absolutely shines just as a dedicated set up. Worth every penny.
Good video, but I gotta say, for a channel that does audio content the sound quality from your microphone is really shit.
There are no long vowels in “SUNDARA”. 🎧
Did you learn pedantic elocution at vegan school?
@@_fakeklg, Good Girl! 👌

@@TheVeganVicarslave eh? Calm down Cromwell.
Go preach your negative vegan attitude elsewhere. Ta ta sweetie.
No real comparisons to a D90 or D10s or any other popular DACs under $1000 or $10k or $20k like mola mola
Would be nice to know if the DAC gets you to say ie 80% of what a Mola Mola can do ...
I just know it measures very poorly, so make sure to listen to it before you buy one.
If you are bored you are boring
This is a very poor dac. The Apple dac that cost 10-20 bucks is wastly superior. It’s also reflected in the measurements that are very poor.
Ahh, yes, an internet comment expert. Does that require a degree or is it a learned skill?
no it’s a poor dac. All the products from Audioquest are ridiculous. A battery on a speaker cable. I rest my case.
@@AlbertKel sounds like you’re the self proclaimed alpha an omega of all things DACs. The audiophile jesus. Congrats.
@@_fakeklg keep babbling, it suit you
@@AlbertKel that’s rich coming from the know-it-all commenter spewing unprompted absolutisms no one asked for in the comments sections of random videos. Is hypocrisy trending these days? Jog on.

I heard something called “Mr Beast” just posted a video. Maybe that’s more your speed, comrade.
