IMO, Alice Cooper can do pretty much whatever he wants. One of the things that helps is he's obviously figured out what works for him as a performer at his age. He's got his show worked out, so he knows where he has to be on stage and when, so he moves at the right time to get there without having to run or jog, so it keeps his breathing good and level, which in turn keeps his vocal performance tight.
My best friend Kris Davis is and has been the lead Carp for Alice for a few years now. He builds that castle for every show and also plays some of the characters that inhabit the stage throughout the show. The band and crew work their asses off every night to put on a killer show. Alice took good care of his crew during the shut down and made sure nobody had to starve it out, and the minute they could get back out there and bring it to the fans he did. I’ve got nothing but respect for the man and how he does things. Love the show. Please keep it coming.
That's a great insight into the difference between the selfish opportunist class and genuine hard working artists. Big respect to Alice Cooper, clearly a sound geezer! 👍
His contribution to this multi-artist charity gig in Australia at the start of 2020 deserves a mention too. A top performance most certainly. Professionally filmed video of the full set here: ua-cam.com/video/cWhlNJDiDks/v-deo.html
This is crazy but true. I saw Alice Cooper twice. The shows were literally 20 years apart. That isn't the crazy part. Both times I won the tickets on a radio show. The only times I ever won anything. That still isn't the crazy part. The crazy part is, the 2nd time, Alice was just as awesome, energetic and just as much as a showman as he was the first time.
Reminds me of a bizarre music coincidence of mine. So only twice in my life have I heard a large group of people break out into song. The first time was at a party, and everyone sung Karma Police together. The second time, I heard an entire city square start singing, yep, Karma Police 😆
Fun fact, both you and Alice Cooper played a small festival in my hometown (Guilfest) in 2003. Cooper didn't like any of the food they had backstage so my friend's mum who was working there had to drive him to KFC!
Alice has to be the greatest frontman because he hasn't lost a thing since day one. He's 74 and still killing it. Mick Jagger is only 4 years older ( also still killing it) but looks way older...
Alice Cooper has always been top tier. His current band is phenomenal and he still delivers. It's crazy to think it's been a half century since I first saw him live with his band that put them on the map.
The first rock band I ever got into when I was in school, phenomenal, then and now! 😁👍 You can tell Alice/Vince really enjoys his work so very much which is evident in his performances. I have read there are a few rock gods who enjoy a round of golf too! ⛳
I’ve seen Alice Cooper live probably 10 times in the last 5 years. I think, other than the original band, this is the best lineup of musicians he’s had supporting him and he NEVER disappoints. Great selection of songs each night (which is hard to do with 28 or 29 albums now), his voice is still incredible and he does exactly what you want him to (the guillotine, the props etc). If anyone here hasn’t seen him live, go see him! Even if you don’t know that much of the music. You will not be disappointed!
I was lucky enough to see the original Alice Cooper Band on their School's Out & Billion Dollar Babies tour's.There are no word's to describe how amazing those shows were as a long haired punk teenager during the early 70's. Just mind blowing!!!
Legend. Lovely man. Amazing seeing him at Brighton in 2019. Love his voice and how, on his earlier records, it goes from the snarl to the deeper voice. It's addictive to listen to.
Alice/Vince has it. He will always have it. He had it before people knew that it was desirable to have. He'd stockpiled a huge quantity of it before anyone even knew the gold rush was in full swing. He's a remarkable individual. Added to the fact that he's a world class musician is that he's a world class golfer. The man is 74 years old and he carries a 4-handicap! He's the radical rock 'n roll relative I've always wanted.
Good morning Justin Hawkins thank you for everything you've done and Happy Father's Day, even if you don't got any of them. I'm sure a lot of people still look up to you.
I enjoyed the golf discussion - you really never know where these videos are going to take you which is part of why I enjoy them. You're doing an excellent job.
There was a "naughty" version of the Poison video that used to be shown late at night on the German satellite TV channel SAT1 back in the late 80's early 90's.
I just saw him perform for the first time a couple months ago, and he was awesome! I have always been a fan, and never had an opportunity to see him live in the past. Great show ! Also - big fan of yours as well Justin - love your UA-cam channel and glad I found it !
I've seen Alice 17 times, met him and his entire family on multiple occasions. I'm 45 and he's 74. I've been a fan since 1989, when I was 12. He has more energy than I do. I don't believe Steve Stevens plays on "Poison." A lot of that guitar work on Trash was done by a washed-up guitar player named Guy Mann Dude, where Alice would make a guest appearance on Dude's one and only album. Alice could run for mayor of Phoenix, if he wanted to. He's that town's golden child. He pays it forward. He fills the room when he walks in, yet he's unassuming. They say you should never meet your hero, but Alice has never disappointed me. Those belts are not only meant for style, but they offer lumbar support. He's been wearing the big belts since the late 90s, starting with the Rock and Roll Carnival tour. I have hours upon hours on tape of him telling his stories. I could sit and talk to him and listen to him tell stories for an entire day. They're so interesting, and you can link him to nearly everyone. I remember one time backstage in 2005, he was quite taken with the blazer I was wearing. He wanted to know who made it, where I got it. And then Rick Allen walks in.
I've seen Alice live more than any other act - nearly 20 times, now. Never miss him! He really is one of the greatest live performers, and yes, he surrounds himself with the best stage musicians consistently. No "dialing it in" for him and his band, long and diverse setlists and stage setups. Worth every $ for the ticket, which is not something you can say of many "top" rock acts.
I did a Meet and Greet with Alice a few years ago and he was awesome !!!!!!! We talked like we were buddies. He couldn't have been any nicer. Taking pics and talking and signing everything I gave him. It was a great night. He was always one of my all time favorites from day one. If you get the chance to do a Meet and Greet with him......DO IT !!!!!! You'll be glad you did.
I saw him in Birmingham a few weeks back at resorts world arena supported by The Cult. I'm a 31 year old musician now and Alice was my first ever "big gig" when I was young. My step dad took me to monsters of rock back in something like 2003 I think, and Alice was headlining. I can safely say I've never seen an act like his and every time (even with age), he does a great show that's consistent both around his vocals and frontman presence. It's dude's like Alice Cooper that set that bar for older musicians and artists to aspire to I think. This is a man who met Elvis, got the attention of Frank Zappa and introduced the niche of shock rock here in the UK and around the world. As a musician myself, every time I've seen his show (4 times now), it just makes me want to keep playing live and keeps the magic of a big rock show alive. I hope he continues performing into his 80's and long live the Coop! Great show as always Justin and I hope your well.
3 things: 1) Happy Fathers Day, Justin! 2) I remember an interview w/ Alice Cooper where he said that Groucho Marx came up to him after a show and said he totally got what Alice Cooper was doing, and he said that was the best compliment he could've gotten. 3) Have you seen the documentary, Supermensch, about his manager, Shep Gordon? It was really fascinating...
I've seen him a couple of times recently, and it was simply perfect. Amazing musicians, great stage presence, some deep cuts in the setlist for the die hard fans... Superb show to watch.
I saw a lot of cool concerts last year (surprisingly😅) and his was one of the best, no question. He’s still got it. Voice and presence, utterly masterful. His band has to be the best in town, but Nita Strauss, in particular, is just mind blowingly good. She’s unreal. Literally, like a perfect rock guitar goddess hallucination come to life. Overall, a very entertaining show. Planning on seeing him again for sure. Think a fair amount of his longevity has to do with his relatively early sobriety. This persona is an act, he acknowledges it, everyone knows it, yet he does it so well, makes it all the more impressive. Master showman 👍🏼
@@tonychavez1733 not really, she’s great at taking the spotlight when needed, and then disappearing into the background when the focus should be elsewhere. Very professional and generous performer.
To me he will always be Vincent Furnier. Alice Cooper was a BAND. The singer, Vincent, booted the musicians, who wrote all the music, took the name, took all the songs, and became a multi millionaire for himself. I just cant forget that. I loved the whole band, not just the singer. But thats just me..
Alice Cooper’s writing and performances shaped my musical development. I will not live long enough to forget my first impression. 1971, Pirates World in S. Fla, standing next to the FOH console before a pitch black stage, the first sound a repeating thunder “boom boom…. boom boom boom…. boom” his vocal mic slamming against the steel base of its stand “Sun Arise… come every morning” “Sun Arise… come every morning” over a unison pair of open low E guitar notes ripping their Marshalls, chorusing against each other. The volume was breathtaking, the space between a black hole. Alice knew drama and music, rarely employing either alone. I learned so much from this 30 second adventure that I’ve used that lesson on literally hundreds of records. Please tell him this next time you see him.
I have 2 teenage daughters and they never ask me to take them so see someone shit. They wanted to see Alice Cooper so that's who they got to see at Birmingham a few weeks ago and the show blew their minds. First time I've seen him live too. Awesome! The oldies are still the best. Great vid
Saw him just a few years ago for the first time. What a great show musically and theatrically! He is still leaving it all on the stage. Go see him. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks for sharing!
I've met every member of his current band. They are SO freaking cool! Generous with their time. Just top notch people! Nita is such a down to earth person. Glen spent so much time answering my drum questions etc that I felt guilty afterwords for taking up so much of his time.
A much earlier pioneer of Shock Rock, and your namesake actually, is a man called Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who was the main influence on Lord Such, and ultimately Alice Cooper 🙂
I am so glad you did this, I have recently had in my YT feed a bunch of twats saying artists should quit cause they are old....Who the fuck should ever stop doing what they love doing (as long as it isn't harming anyone of course)?
So many of his late 80s, early 90s songs. Might have to catch him again. He's a treasure. Not only an amazing performer, but one of the best all-around people I've ever met.
Seen cooper loads of times, last time at the 02 his voice was shot after 3 songs but he still has it. I also brought a darkness t-shirt to support the channel, every little helps 👍
I absolutely love Alice. I saw his twice already, the first show was one of the best I've ever been to. He recently played in the country I moved back to and unfortunately I had to miss the show. Hundreds of shows I've attended for the last 10 years drove me almost to the point of bankruptcy 😐
Seen heaps of your videos, love all the Aussie band reviews AC/DC, Amyl and the Sniffers and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Please can you do a review of The Angels Marseilles or Rose Tattoo Scarred for Life would be great to hear your perspective and listen to what you think, I know you’re an AC/DC fan so it’s definitely up your ally. Cheers from Australia.
I saw Alice 3 years ago before the big lockdown and i have to say it was one of the best concerts ive ever seen in my life, and ive seen hundreds of concerts. This guy knows how to put up a show. Now this year im thinking about going again to watch him with my wife in Madrid next week
I've been to see Alice a couple times, always a great show. Everything is on point. He was never a screaming vocalist, so his voice sounds basically the same as always.
Love your vids Justin, but Steve Stevens didn't have anything to do with co wtiting poison or playing on the track, it was Al Pitrelli who did the trash album and Desmond child co wrote it with Alice! Steve Stevens obviously did Top Gun and Dirty Diana by MJ! Saw you guys at download seeing you come out with steel panther was amazing! Loved it, my ex band King Creature actually played eith you in Glasgow for a private Marshall event! I even leant Dan my Les Paul! At NAMM in LA for the week! Have a great festival season and what a banger closing with don't let the bells end in June haha! All the best 🙌
Two of my very first Rock records (vinyl) were Schools Out and Welcome to my Nightmare. Still have them. Still listen to them. Brilliant. Love his work. I hope he never stops.
alice has always been amazing live. saw him at manchester couple of weeks ago and he didn't dissapoint. hope he continues for a very long time to come. hail alice !!
Your a hard working man. I love your videos they are always entertaining. You have taught me a lot and I enjoy your positive attitude. It’s made me look at myself and change my attitude. I like that you are still a fan. I’m 48 and I still act like a kid about my musical heroes . You need to cut holes in the hat to accommodate headphones.
Alice! Always a great stage show and great music. I think my favorite Album of Alice is DaDa. Its absolutely genius. If you haven't heard it then I suggest you do. its an amazing journey.
As a lifelong (now ancient) music lover, I wouldn't dream of ever suggesting any artist give up performing especially due to reaching a certain age. We need all artists everywhere to keep on playing - performing as much and for as long as they can do. Giving thought to how the pandemic affected so many bands/performers - musicians, and how the loss of being able to gather and see bands play affected so many, I hope whatever age they are, that they just keep on getting back out there. If people don't appreciate what they produce - don't watch, don't stay, don't go. The older generation of our artists deserve full respect in my opinion. Not for any of us to make judgements over when they retire - or over the 'life' of their voice/ability. If your passion and love is to perform, then long may you continue.
I've seen Alice a few times and my takeaway has always been that I've rarely seen a group of musicians having so much fun onstage. They're so into it and that's infectious. Absolute legend.
I caught this tour when it came around this past February. It was amazing. So glad he's still out there killing it! Even catching covid did nothing to diminish the experience.
One of the most interesting concerts I ever attended. At the end of the show AC tossed his a sequined cowboy hat he was wearing into the audience, and it landed on me…it was a pileup to take the prize, and I ended up with the hat. Cool momento that I wear every Halloween
I've seen Alice several times. I last saw him in Swansea (UK) this year. He's just as good, if not better. If you ever get the chance to see him live I'd highly recommend it.
Alice Cooper is what I consider now the father of Rock and roll what a great guy he is and a very wise and intelligent man he deserves his golden years
We can but aspire to be as excellent as Alice Cooper, we even licensed and released a version of Poison. He was absolutely brilliant on both the last two tours, and long may he continue. The attention to detail re putting on an engaging show is unparalleled. Nita is awesome too!
The hat is real snazzy, keep up the good work of these videos. And hope I'll see many more concerts where someone will request Christmas time and you allow the on the stage so you can tell them to buzz off afterwards
I’ve seen Alice at least eight times live. He’s the ultimate showman and always delivers a fantastic show. I think he’s marvellous for 74! Long may he continue to rock & roll!
I saw Alice Cooper perform at the Australian Firefight Concert in Feb 2020 [right before restrictions happened]. He was just incredible and younger people were absolutely in awe of him. He will keep going until he cannot.
Hey Justin. First album I ever bought, of course, permission to land. Really enjoyed watching you over the years and now hearing your personal insights into music. Thanks alot man, great to hear from you.
Saw Alice with The Hollywood Vampires. All the musicians had a blast at that show playing their favorite covers. He sounded great and had total command of the stage.
Alice is my all time favourite and you did him justice. No wonder you and The Darkness are among my favourites as well. 😁 I'm glad that you personally hit it off. Cheers.
After losing Phil May of The Pretty Things, I now depend on Alice Cooper to prove that age doesn't deny new creative music. His body of work (30 albums!!!) is incredible and widely varied. Alice is one of those restless musicians like Neil Young. Just today I made a CD length mix for each of his 3 eras (AC band, 75 to 83, 86 on.) Great fun rock.
Hell yeah!!!
He looks great at 74! He’s got a presence out this world. His voice sounds great too.
Great comment!!! Thanks for sharing such a cool story, too.
That's a great insight into the difference between the selfish opportunist class and genuine hard working artists. Big respect to Alice Cooper, clearly a sound geezer! 👍

I want to upvote you but you’re currently at 69 thumbs up (thumb ups? Thumbs ups?) and I’m apparently still 13.
This is crazy but true. I saw Alice Cooper twice. The shows were literally 20 years apart. That isn't the crazy part. Both times I won the tickets on a radio show. The only times I ever won anything. Saw him one time opening for Black Sabbath...............he was Fucking Great.
Perfect!
I never won anything but an Alice Cooper "Fashion" LP in a quiz at a bar😃
Fun fact, both you and Alice Cooper played a small festival in my hometown (Guilfest) in 2003. Cooper didn't like any of the food they had backstage so my friend's mum who was working there had to drive him to KFC!
Haha - What did the locals of Guildford think seeing Alice walk in to the local KFC?😂
He always had a thing with chickens.
That’s pretty terrible backstage food if KFC was preferable…
How cool would that be to drive Alice to KFC? Maybe have some chicken with him!
I was there for that. Guilfest, that is... not KFC.
Still has it. Fan since '73. Welcome To My Nightmare Tour saw Alice in 77. Alice... then Kiss "Love Gun" tour concert. Life was very good!
The world needs people like Alice Cooper. That's it
Alice has to be the greatest frontman because he hasn't lost a thing since day one. He's 74 and still killing it. Mick Jagger is only 4 years older ( also still killing it) but looks way older...
Alice looks his age. Sorry, but it's true.
Roger Daltrey lead singer of The Who still hasn't lost a thing
I cant help but wonder whether he'll crank out a version of "I'm Eighty" (not Eighteen) when he turns 80. That could be cool.
Legend. :)
Hell yes!
For sure and he do what he wants cos he's 80!!!!
@@DavidEdwards-e6m Hahaha! Yeah! 😂

Another one of the OG shock rockers, whom I think Alice took a lot of inspiration from, is Arthur Brown
Saw him in Birmingham at the end of May with The Cult and Creeper! 5th time I’ve seen him. He was awesome! Always has a great band behind him too!
I was at the same show. We missed Creeper because it was a long drive to get there but The Cult and Alice Cooper and his band were fantastic.
I was at the London show this year and it was my first time seeing Alice Cooper. I was blown away; he was fantastic!
The ballad of Dwight Fry was by far a deep look into Alice the character! Love it to Death still one of my favorite LP's
I was lucky enough to see the original Alice Cooper Band on their School's Out & Billion Dollar Babies tour's.There are no word's to describe how amazing those shows were as a long haired punk teenager during the early 70's. Just mind blowing!!!

Saw him in NJ 2022 and yeah he and the band were freaking amazing. I also caught a pick from nita strauss, that was pretty cool
Seen cooper loads of times, last time at the 02 his voice was shot after 3 songs but he still has it. I also brought a darkness t-shirt to support the channel, every little helps 👍
I saw him in Albuquerque about I think it was three years ago, he nailed every note, just killed it. It was amazing!
Love Alice. Still got it. Amazing.
Always loved listening to Nights with Alice Cooper
I absolutely love Alice. I saw his twice already, the first show was one of the best I've ever been to. He recently played in the country I moved back to and unfortunately I had to miss the show. Hundreds of shows I've attended for the last 10 years drove me almost to the point of bankruptcy 😐
Well done Justin! Happy Father’s Day my friend
So glad you gave Nita Strauss her well-deserved shoutout.
Love the reference to Screaming Lord Sutch, an absolute icon.
I miss his old band though, those early albums were brilliant and the singing on them was just incredible.
The original band was unlike anything else when I was a teen in the 70s.School's out and B.D.Bs were anthems in H.S.
Alice! Always a great stage show and great music. I think my favorite Album of Alice is DaDa. Its absolutely genius. If you haven't heard it then I suggest you do. its an amazing journey.
Jazz drummer Max Roach was once asked how he was able to outlive his contemporaries like Charlie Parker. He said, “ I play golf on the weekends.”
I saw Alice live right before covid lockdown in 2020. He was freaking awesome!
I saw him in 2003. Great band, great stage production, fun show!
He was superb in Swansea. A master-class in headlining
Alice Cooper is what I consider now the father of Rock and roll what a great guy he is and a very wise and intelligent man he deserves his golden years
Welcome to my nightmare. Brilliant album
saw him at Wembley with the stranglers as support fuxking brilliant....
We can but aspire to be as excellent as Alice Cooper, we even licensed and released a version of Poison. He was absolutely brilliant on both the last two tours, and long may he continue. The attention to detail re putting on an engaging show is unparalleled. Nita is awesome too!
about 3 and half seconds into the Alice footage you rolled it was a definitive, hell no he shouldn't stop, from me. He's absolutely rocking it.
Have been fortunate to have seen Alice Cooper many times. "Go to hell" is my favorite Cooper song.
The hat is real snazzy, keep up the good work of these videos. And hope I'll see many more concerts where someone will request Christmas time and you allow the on the stage so you can tell them to buzz off afterwards
Was listening to the killer album whilst bathing today, been a fan since the early 70's, what an expressionly amazing voice, such growl and power.
I've seen him 4 times since 96, Nita Strauss is fantastic, Alice is STILL kicking ass.
Saw Alice Cooper In February this year. ROCKED!!
I love Alice but truly Screaming Jay Hawkins opened the door for this type of an act. Thanks Justin
I’ve seen Alice at least eight times live. He’s the ultimate showman and always delivers a fantastic show. I think he’s marvellous for 74! Long may he continue to rock & roll!
Of course Alice shouldn't stop. Why should he when he is still able to do it and is having fun as well. Love Alice!
Thank you for mentioning screaming lord sutch, such a great artist!
I saw Alice Cooper perform at the Australian Firefight Concert in Feb 2020 [right before restrictions happened]. He was just incredible and younger people were absolutely in awe of him. He will keep going until he cannot.
Alice can STILL deliver, xsaw him a couple of weeks ago and he is still delivering in spades. Amazing for a 74 year old!!!
Hey Justin. First album I ever bought, of course, permission to land. Really enjoyed watching you over the years and now hearing your personal insights into music. Thanks alot man, great to hear from you.
Alice cooper is one of the most down to earth rockers out there.
Saw Alice with The Hollywood Vampires. All the musicians had a blast at that show playing their favorite covers. He sounded great and had total command of the stage.
Alice's vocal range wasn't so high or low. Perfect for when he ages.
Alice is my all time favourite and you did him justice. No wonder you and The Darkness are among my favourites as well. 😁 I'm glad that you personally hit it off. Cheers.
Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's in THE DARKNESS....Thank you for sharing your thoughts about Alice Cooper. Keep up the great work!
