Magic was a conductor of a symphony. The greatest conductor of a symphony. A one-off playmaker. Optimized, synergized team-play like no one else before him, during, or since. Controlled the flow of the game, its pace, like no other. A Mozart of a passer. Seeing plays developing that most playmakers couldn't imagine. (Caitlyn, though, has the potential to develop into a "second coming" of Magic.) Chick was so good. Perfect for Showtime. No one else could've done it as well, such a fast pace, such quick, intricate ball movement, and Chicky was able to paint such a vivid picture. Modern play-by-play announcers can't hold a candle. So sloppy, miss so much of the action verbally, so inexact, so inadequate. The deficiency, when compared to Chick, is so stark.

How would they have faired individually and team wise? If those two players were the same age and in the same draft, which one do you pick first?
@@williamwalsh1533 I think Worthy is a great forward but Kevin McHale is an absolute demon. There's not many power forwards in NBA history I'd put over him. There may be at least 10 small forwards better than Worthy though. Kevin McHale is near unstoppable on both ends of the floor which you can't even say about Charles Barkley, and McHale is similarly deadly at scoring. If you foul him he also shoots 80% from the line while getting 2 blocks on most nights. I can't think of a single team who doesn't need his talent

Regarding Worthy, I read a biography on Jerry West and it said that he wanted to draft Dominique Wilkins but Magic didn't want him so West went with Worthy instead. Big Game James did well in big games. He shot 52% from the field on 10.5 attempts with a 17.6 PPG average for his career. Wilkins shot 46% on 20.1 attempts with 24.8 PPG. Do you think Worthy would have put up the same scoring average if he were the focal point of the Hawks offense and had the same shot attempts? Would Worthy have been just as efficient with more shot attempts? How would Wilkins been as a Laker? Would Wilkins have had less shot attempts? Would his efficiency gone up or remained the same?

Not only that, Manic stretched his game even more and started shooting 3s and his 20 footer was automatic.
I firmly believe these showtime Lakers teams could still wreak havoc today. Especially with the spacing and lax dribbling rules.
