A lot of plastic in the ocean got drug in there because the tsunamis when the water was going back into the ocean from the land it's sucked a lot of garbage back out into the ocean with it... I know there are people that throw crap in the ocean too and they shouldn't be but you also got to realize what nature does on its own... So happy you kids have a safe trip in spite of the weather... Thanks a bunch for sharing this video. I have a Ben 40, a very similar boat with the same engine. It is very strange that the alternator mounting bolt failed. I always thought that the mounting scheme was a bit weak. Makes me consider keeping the belt guard off of the engine during passages so that everything can be visually inspected easier. Enjoy the Carib.
I would suggest you should change the bolts to grade 8 bolts or equivariant as soon as possible. you won't have this problem again if you do this change. Good look.
Almost becoming second nature these ocean crossings for you guys - done good! The sea surface vision from the cockpit really is quite stunning. Appreciate the glimpse of an environment I would not otherwise see. Just curious, when you jumped off the back of Zephyr how deep is the water? Probably not something I would want to dwell on lol! I just didn’t feel the danger sitting here in the dark naked eating these coco puffs leaching off my mommas wifi here in her basement.... may be different in real life 1000 miles from dirt losing 2 of my 3 firms if propulsion ... correction....2 of 5..... forgot we could all pile in the dinger an unbolt our HV steering system an motor off into the sunset.... or just swim...but I doubt it be any different....🤣😂🤣 Yal keep doing what u doing ... let us armchair troll captains bicker among ourselves !!😁
Hey Rod! We arrived into the island of Antigua....it was one of the only islands at the time that counted your time at sea as your quarantine period so that once we arrived we were allowed off the boat straight away! Thanks for watching mate 🤩🤩
I think their scary moment was when the Wisker pole broke and it damaged the fiberglass. But they didn’t capture the pole breaking or the damage to the boat ... just the pole repair. Or maybe it was the engine about to break but again they didn’t show the leaks or the rattling ... so yeah.
*_ Someone asked why they have a Hydrovane and never make use of it, I think it's his hair that sucks the common sense out of his brain and can't make him comprehend the actual use of the Hydrovane that they have onboard! _*
Haven't watched any of this channel except this episode. I didn't see mounting for HydroVane in video *7:00* maybe out of view offset on port ? It's kind'da strange you mentioned hydrovane as I was thinking to myself viewing the wishlist, *he should ask for a HV on his wishlist as everything else is on there* .... then I read your comment .... LOL

Lock-tite may help. LOL
At the very least, paint a line from bolt to case with nail polish or even just a wax pen. Lets you know if bolt is loosening.

Given that your net has a blue material around the inlet- could it be the source for the blue plastic you found?
I did find some of the blue strands in there too! But this one was def a bit of fishing line tangled in the sargassum. Thanks for watching Bill!

I didn’t see mounting for a hydrovane.
Maybe they were mistaking the outboard motor mounted on the back for a wind vane system.
